Only IP addresses are kept (a) during the voting for the Master Emerald Awards or the monthly polls to catch those who may be voting multiple times and (b) on the message board. After the results for the awards or polls are finalized, the IP addresses are discarded.
Knuckles Haven is mainly a G-rated site in the informational areas concerning the video games, comics, and animation. In regards to fan submissions, I do allow anything PG and at times accept something that is PG-13 at my discretion. I definitely do not accept anything that would be rated higher than PG-13. If something is borderline, it will usually contain a warning from either myself or the author/artist as well. Since I am going by the ratings used in the United States and the internet has a global reach, definitions of the ratings are provided below to make everything is as clear as possible.
G: Something with this rating contains material that is considered suitable for all ages, but it does not mean that it's only for kids. There is little to no violence, little to no sexual situations (example: nothing more than kissing), and no strong language (no swearing/cursing).
PG: Something with this rating contains material that parents may find unsuitable for younger children. The theme itself may call for parental guidance and/or one or more of the following is present: moderate violence, some sexual situations, infrequent coarse language, or some suggestive dialogue.
PG-13: Something with this rating contains material that parents may find unsuitable for children under the age of 13. One or more of the following is present: intense violence, intense sexual situations, strong coarse language, or intensely suggestive dialogue.
1. May I link to images/music from this website for my own?
No, you may not. There is a firewall in place.
2. May I use information from this website for my own?
If it is something I have written in the games, comics, or animation areas of the website, you may use it. However, do not copy it word for word and credit would be nice. If it is something that has been provided to me by someone else, you may not use it unless you ask that person. You may not take anything from the fans area of the website without asking the creator's permission.
3. Can I affiliate with you?
It will depend on your website. I would have to see it first though I will not accept many. If it is new, the answer will be "no." If it is not related to Knuckles or Sonic characters in some manner, the answer is going to be "no" unless you present a very good reason (or reasons) to change my mind. Instead of looking to be an affiliate, if your website is a Knuckles/Sonic-related website, go read the instructions in the links area and it will probably be added to the links page during an update. I only reject websites if I notice something clearly illegal on it, or it has an adult feel to it.
4. Why didn't you respond to my email?
I am a busy person, so I do not respond to every email that is sent to me. Whether or not I respond has to do with several factors including what the email is about and what is going on in my life at the time it is sent. Realize that any question sent to the fan submission account will never been seen by me until I decide to update that particular section given in the subject of the email. Also realize that emails without the proper subject will usually end up deleted unless I recognize your email account as legit. These accounts do get spam, and if I'm in doubt, I delete it. As a rule of thumb, questions should always be sent to my main email account for Knuckles Haven: truered@lycos.com.
5. I sent [insert submission] weeks/months ago. Why isn't it up yet?
I am a busy person and my life comes before any website work. I am also responsible for Sonic HQ and I split time between the two websites a lot.
6. Can I join this site?
No, this will stay my own personal website. However, if you have information that you would like to contribute/provide that I do not have, you can always check the help wanted section or email me about it.
