Next Online Chat
Ken Penders is having another online chat dealing Sonic #100, The Lost Ones, and other projects of his on Wednesday, November 8 at 8:00pm (Eastern time for the U.S.). Note, if you want to figure out what time that is for you, make a post here (this site's Testing Forum). The time that shows up underneath whatever name you use is the current time for the East Coast of the U.S. Two final notes: I'll be a little late like last time since my classes on Wednesday end at 8pm so if someone doesn't mind clueing me in on what I miss when I get there (via ICQ or AIM not the chat room) that would be nice. ^_^ The last note is that since Election Day in the U.S. is November 7 (vote if you can please!) and the fact that Ken doesn't mind some political discussion, the results of the various elections across the U.S. (mainly the Presidential & probably NY since he's from NY) might be mentioned. You've been warned if you hate that stuff.

Knuckles Haven's 28,000th Hit
Congratulations to Rebecky-Mo who was the 28,000th visitor to Knuckles Haven. ;)

Clearing up rumors regarding SEGA
I normally don't report news dealing with the "business-side" of Sega, however, there's a big rumor going around the 'net that needs to be cleared up. Check out IGNDC's article here, which also provides a link to Sega's press release about "seeing" Sega games on other systems (only if you consider a PC "other" systems). Since I'm reporting business news, I might as well mention that Sega and Nintendo are forming a joint company. You can read that article here.

SU Knuckles Plushies
Denny's, the restaurant chain in the US, is selling SU Knuckles and Sonic plushies for $3.99 when you buy something there. If there's a Denny's near you, you might be interested in going there to pick one up.

Knuckles Haven's 26,000th Hit
Congrats to Kany0n who was this site's 26,000th visitor! ;D

2nd Annual Sonic Emmy Awards
If you are interested in voting, it's taking place at TSSZ. It's for Sonic sites though and there really isn't a Knuckles site there, just like last year. So stay tuned, because there just might be a "Knuckles Emmy Awards" coming. I'm thinking about having one because there are tons of cool Knux/Chaotix sites that deserve some recognition, too.

Archie Tid-Bit
This has to deal with Sonic and Knuckles' names in Archie according to Ken Penders' post:
The Only Reason...

... Sonic has a name other than Sonic is that years ago the licensing department at Sega informed me that Sonic was merely a nickname, which is what led to me christening him Olgilvie Maurice Hedgehog at one point, and why it was mentioned in SONIC #53.

As far as Knuckles is concerned, that is his one and ONLY name. Bobby just doesn't quite cut it.

From what I've heard, Knuckles has been given the name Bobby some fans because of ReBoot, but I'm not sure. Now you know the deal with the names for sure as far as Archie's universe goes.

Sonic Shuffle
A new preview is available at IGNDC. There are also screen shots and four new movies to view. You need Quicktime to see them, but the other thing is that the movies are 12.6MB (the Shuffle opening), 4.9MB (battle on beach & the "funny" one--well Robotnik drops an 16-ton anvil on Sonic's head, no joke), and 3.6MB (nice and toon shaded).

Site News
1) The SEGA section has been re-opened, but it's only about 60% done. A big SEGA character information update is coming your way, which will be similar to "The EST Files" that I have going for Archie (including it's own section and host--brownie points if you can guess who that'll be ^_~). However, I finished fixing all the links and uploaded the nearly 100 screenshots (I lost count once I was in the 80s) from Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles, and Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Major thanks go to MoKat for providing them. ;)
2) I changed the look a little, which I'm sure you noticed. Check out the new section called Sonia's Stuff for the hit numbers and the petitions that I link to and support. Also, since it had been suggested by a few people, you can get free email (if you chose) in that section as well.
3) After SEGA, Fleetway is next. :)

Knuckles Haven's 25,000th Hit
A BIG congrats to 00dodger who was Knuckles Haven's 25,000th visitor! ;D Also, thanks to everyone who visits and contributes. ^_^ If someone told me in February that I'd have this many hits in 8 months, I wouldn't have believed them. More power to the Knux fans!

Ken's Oct 4th Chat Transcript
Ron Bauerle has released two versions of Ken Penders' chat. Version one contains all comments and conversations during the chat and the discussion that continued once Ken had left. Version two has all of Ken's statements during the chat, removes the side comments, has all the questions that Ken's comments belong to, and contains the discussion that continued once Ken had left (and we went on for about another hour too). Check whichever one you prefer or both. Version One and Version Two.

Sonic Super Specials
If you are an Archie fan, you are quite aware that the Super Specials end with #15, which is coming out in December. Like with Knuckles, there's a petition to Archie to get them back. Unlike with Knuckles, it won't be sent until it reaches 1,000 names. I'm not running this one. The petition is being run at Sonic Central. Check out the petition at http://sonicheadquarters.homestead.com/petition.html if you are interested in saving the SSS.

Sonic Adventure 2
According to an article at IGNDC, Sonic Team and Sega are planning a worldwide launch for SA2 in 2001, but Australia probably won't be included.

Status on K:20YL
Since I didn't get to ask during the chat, I asked Ken Penders about how we're going to see Knuckles: 20 Years Later in an email. At the moment, he's preparing it for back-ups in Sonic, but he says there's still a chance for the publishers to give an okay to the stand alone special but he won't know that for awhile (as in several months from now). Basically, keep writing and keep your fingers crossed.

Save Our Knuckles
Save Our Knuckles (SOK) was updated today. The most important sections that were updated were the Knuckles/Sonic comic availability and of course the names. Click the link above to check it out.

Sonic Team
Today, Sonic Team released a much better version of their new "Internet Live" feature. The Sonic Adventure 2 video (at the 26 minute mark) is slightly different and much better to look at. You can check it out at: http://www.bcast.co.jp/webevents/sega/sonic_300.asx

Chat Highlights
That chat ended at around 9:30PM. Here are some highlights:

1) Julie-Su returns along with Simon and Floren-Ca (her step-parents) in Sonic #98
2) Dimitri becomes Enerjak in Sonic #100
3) Charmy is back in Sonic #93 because Sonic #92 is going to be the Sonic Shuffle adaptation (thanks for the info Ellie-Za ^^)
4) Ken's not sure if Tikal will return
5) Nic and Nack aren't going to be the only ones hunting Knuckles in Sonic #91
6) Tails and Knuckles will be working together during "The Chosen One" storyline (now Sonic #95-97).

Also, since I was able to copy and paste parts of the chat, the other interesting information from the chat is here. Check out some direct quotes from Ken Penders there.

Chat Reminder
Today is Ken Pender's chat at Ken's Comic Book Stories and Art (http://www.kenpenders.com). It's at 8:00PM ET (United States). I'll be there a little late since my English class ENDS at exactly 8:00PM, but I will be there no later than 8:10. So whenever the chat is over expect some highlights posted at this site if you can't make it.

Sonic Shuffle
IGNDC has a bit of a hands-on preview of Sonic Shuffle. You can check it out here. You can also see the box art for the game here.

Sonic Team
Sonic Team's Fall Festival is over, but they have a new "Internet Live" feature at the Japanese site. I don't understand Japanese so I don't know what they're saying, but around the 26:00 minute mark (it's 28:05 total time) there's a Sonic Adventure 2 promo. It's very similar to the original download, but there are a lot of shots of Chao present in this as well as shots of Robotnik (Eggman) blasting "the enemy." My only problem with it is they took out "Knuckles the Echidna" and a bunch of his shots to fit that all in. Sorry, no shots of Tails or Amy so far for you Tails and Amy fans.

Sonic Underground Season 2
This isn't official and is totally fan based. Lots of things are happening and the first episode ("Taking the Fall") features one of the Hedgehog trio leaving and Knuckles makes an appearance. One tiny spoiler is that Tails will be brought into this fan project on Sonic Underground. If you want to check it out, go to http://www.su-tv.net/season2/.
