Archie Knuckles/Sonic Comic InfoMy note: This has been a busy news day. ^_^ This info is straight from Ken Penders:
I announce that the story THE CHOSEN ONE is now on the schedule. Regretably, it won't be the 66-page epic originally planned, but it was either do it in 24 or nothing, so I accepted the conditions and put it on track. The storyline will see print in SONIC #94 - 96, followed by the return of the Dark Legion in SONIC #97 - 99, which leads into the SONIC/KNUCKLES crossover in #100. Look for the return of Dimitri as Enerjak, as well as other surprises.
As for SONIC #100, discussions have begun on what the story will be like, and this much I can say: it'll be a full-length story featuring practically every character we can shove in there, it'll be written by both Karl and
myself, and I'll probably be handling some of the art, but not sure what or how much just yet.
What it won't have: any weddings or engagements involving anyone from Knothole Village. Justin, Karl and I have been discussing the issue at length, and it was decided that most, if not all of the characters considered -- Sonic, Sally, Antoine, and Bunnie -- are simply too young for any serious relationships beyond simply dating. (I had been a proponent for at least Antoine and Bunnie getting engaged, but I'm afraid that is one aspect where I simply may have let all the fan interaction get to me, and just wanted that monkey off my back. You have no idea how tiring it gets to receive e-mail practically every day asking when Sonic and Sally are going to get married. When Justin and karl made their case against it, I couldn't help but agree. It would
be wrong for the series to proceed any further in that direction at this time.)
I'll have much more to say at my online chat. See you there.
There you go. The chat is on October 4th at 8PM (U.S. Eastern time). I'm gearing up for some MAJOR stories now. I think all us Archie fans will have a nice roller coaster ride to enjoy for Sonic #100. Things are definitely looking up.

Site News/RequestsThis is a bit long, but please read it all:
1) I closed down the Sega section because I'm going to be re-arranging stuff like crazy and I hate having dead links. So it's closed until I'm done with it. Don't ask me when that will be because right now I don't know.
2) If anyone has the capability to make screen shots, I would like to have one of Tikal. It's asking a lot I know, but I have a few new sections that I'm making and I plan on having her "host" one of them like I have Lara-Le host the polls. ^_^ I prefer using a screen shot to using a scan of Tikal from one of the comics, but that's what I'll use if it comes down to it.
3)
Contest Time: I would like a logo for the site and right now I can't think of anything for it other than using the Knux logo from the Sonic and Knuckles game for Genesis. So, to all artists, graphics designers, and anyone with an idea, send whatever it is that you think the logo for Knuckles Haven should be to
webmaster@KnucklesHaven.zzn.com. Send your pics or descriptions of your ideas to
that email address or post it
here. I'm taking stuff until January 1, 2001. You have plenty of time. Whatever I decide will be revealed on Knuckles' 7th birthday. ;)
4) A request: Please refrain from emailing me about when am I going to update fiction/art/etc. I'm one person and I do a lot of stuff, online and off. Only after I update the section and I didn't put your stuff up, then email me because I may not have received it (that happens sometimes).
Sonic ShuffleAccording to
IGNDC, Sonic Shuffle has a tentative Japanese release date set for Winter 2000.

STC #190From Ed:
I noticed issue 190 in the shops. It's got the shocking cover of Sonic battling a Porker-Metallix whilst balancing on the Miracle Planet's chain. Inside, Chaotix and Sonic head for the metal Miracle Planet but by the time they get there, Mobius is destroyed; and Knuckles battles the undead if it's "the Graveyard" part 2.

Sonic Adventure 2
Sonic Team has a Fall Festival going on in which they will be revealing stuff about Sonic Adventure 2 (among other things) for the next 10 days. Today they've released two new screen shots. This is the place to go:

Next Ken Penders' Online ChatKen Penders is having another chat at his website (
http://www.kenpenders.com) on Wednesday, October 4 at 8:00PM Eastern Time (in the U.S., adjust to your time accordingly). He requests that if you do come, not to have side conversations like last time. If you want to chat with someone there is a way to chat with them so that only you and the person you are talking to see it. Use that capability please unless you are asking Ken a question. ^_^

Must Read for Sonic cartoon fans, especially SatAMStraight from SonicHQ:
Increadible news for SatAM fans. We heard DiC was bought, well it was DiC who bought their independence. YOU MUST WRITE LETTERS TO CARTOON NETWORK NOW! Cartoon Network would be the best because they adopt series and above all they listen to their fans. They listened to the Sailor Moon petition so the SatAM petition could work. Okay, here's what to do. Here's what WB said:
"Write to CartoonNetwork AND Dic. For Cartoon Network you need to give them reasons as to why this series is so good and show them how many people are behind it. For Dic you need to convince them the benefits of airing it again, new episode possibilities (think of interest in Sonic Adventure 2, study demographics) and why Cartoon network would be a good place"
DO NOT ASK FOR NEW EPISODES YET!! That will come in time and I'll [Sonique] keep everyone posted. Here's the addy to cartoon Network:
Cartoon Network
1050 Techwood Drive
Atlanta, GA 30318
And for DiC:
DiC Entertainment
303 North Glenoaks Blvd,
Burbank CA 91502 (USA)
Phone #: (818) 955-5400
Fax #: (818) 955-5696
Executives:
Andy Hayward: President & Cheif Executive officer
Patricia Ryan: President of international sales
Joy Tahjian: President of worldwide merchandising
Robby London: Senior Vice President of creative affairs
The reason I say this is good news for
all cartoon fans is that means we have a very good chance to get all the cartoons aired on a station that actually CARES about it, unlike Toon Disney which would only air AoStH while it had the rights to all three (SatAM, SU, & AoStH). Cartoon Network also FINISHES series (ex. Sailor Moon, DBZ, etc.) so SU fans who are looking for the lost 25 episodes have a better chance of seeing them if Cartoon Network picks up the Sonic cartoons. If CN picks up SatAM, it'll take up SU and AoStH with it because 26 Sonic cartoon episodes aren't as appealing as 132 Sonic cartoon episodes (add 25 more to that number if they get the "lost" SU episodes).

News about another Sonic animated seriesThis comes from Ken Penders:
Right now, there is not one bit of support for another animated series by either Sega or any animation studio, which is crucial in getting a project started. At this point, Sega is much more interested in a Sonic film project than anything else. As for doing it anime style if such a project were green-lighted here in America, that's a tough call, as studio executives are not convinced that the vast American audience would support a film in the anime style.
Right now Sega is more interested in doing a movie project instead of a cartoon series, so everyone just be happy with the thought of seeing re-runs of your current fave Sonic cartoon, IF Cartoon Network picks it up.

Knuckles: 20 Years LaterNo, there isn't any news about when this special will come out. This is a just a message to all the fans who are interested in seeing this special see print:
It has recently come to my attention that Archie will not be printing Sonic Super Specials after #15. This means that Super Sonic Special (SSS) #16 or "Knuckles 20 Years Later" (K20L) will not get published any time soon.
Of course upon hearing this, I became quite disgusted. I could swallow "Knuckles the Echidna" getting cancelled and Super Sonic Specials getting cut (especially the SSS with some of the most ridiculous stories and bad art work ever) because of the comic industry slump. SSS #16 or K20L was another matter. This was going to be a high quality Ken Penders tale at its best. It also had a "following” of sorts. How could a company make such a financial blunder and cancel a popular, long-awaited product?
So I emailed Archie. I realized that Archie does whatever the bean-counters want verses the fans. I figured that my letter had a snowballs chance in heck of making a difference, but at least I tried. Then I found out that Sega still held the copyright to Sonic and all of the merchandise and franchises. I also learned that Sega had forced Archie to keep Princess Sally around after #50 (getting Archie to do anything is a miracle). It then came to my mind that I should go over Archie’s head and email Sega. Even if Sega agrees with Archie or is indifferent, it would still by way of the grapevine reach Archie that the fans REALLY wanted SSS #16. So I went to Sega’s website and sent them an email as well.
Here is my proposition, that everyone interested contacts Sega along with Archie by snail mail or email in hopes of getting SSS #16 printed. Saying something nice and explaining why K20L should be printed and perhaps we will see K20L one day.
If you are interested in writing Sega, here's the address:
Sega of America Dreamcast, Inc.
650 Townsend Street, Suite 650
San Francisco, CA 94103-4908
Archie's addresses (I know these):
Michael I. Silberkleit, Chairman & Co-publisher
c/o Archie Comic Publications, Inc.
325 Fayette Avenue
Mamaroneck, NY 10543-2318
Richard H. Goldwater, President & Co-publisher

Mamaroneck, NY 10543-2318
Sonic-Grams

P.O. Box #419

Just so that you know, none of us who have been waiting for the special have anything to lose by sending letters and all the most to gain. Anything that might get K:20YL published the way it's supposed to be is worth mentioning, especially since at the moment it might never see the light of day.
Sonic Team's Site TranslatedJust check out the news page of Sonic HQ right
here. One of the webmasters has figured out how to translate the Japanese into English (it's pretty good too for the most part). So go there to learn some things that's only known to the Japanese-literate fans.

Knuckles Haven's 21,000th HitCongratulations to Mary Echidna who was the 21,000th visitor to this site. ^_^
Sonic the ComicAs reported by Ed:
The latest STC cover is really neat, featuring Knuckles and Chaotix on it as well. It's also coloured by KNUCKLES artist Nigel Dobbyn. The KNUCKLES story inside, I believe, is "THE GRAVEYARD" (an all-time classic), and in SONIC the gripping "RETURN OF CHAOTIX" story begins.

Sonic #92A little blurb on the Knuckles story in Sonic #92:
"Bagging The Big One," As his search for the Floating Island continues, Knuckles discovers he's the quarry of more than a few interested parties, each racing to beat the other. Unfortunately for them, this isn't the Knuckles they've all dealt with before...
Sonic #92 ships on December 22.

Site NewsThe major focus of updates is toward the Sega section for now until it's done. ^^ I don't know when that will be, but if you keep checking it out you'll noticed that things are starting to be tweaked over there. Next focus will be on the new section (possibly sections) that I'll be adding and a bit of branching out that's going to be done. That's the main reason I asked if anyone wants a frames version of the site (I'd never get rid of this version) since I'm going to be doing a bit of re-organization anyway, might as well do it all at once instead of doing it twice. Note to Turbo: You'll be seeing the benefit of those scans you sent me in a couple of months. ^^
