The Ultimate Chao: by Noele Carballo (AKA Melissa “T2” Prower) Author’s notes: Just so you know, this story takes place a little after the whole Sonic Adventure series, and way before SSS #14. And another note, I’m also bad at writing Sonic fan fiction so this story will probably suck! :P Place: T2’s workshop “Oh, where the heck can he be?! Chaotic! CHAOTIC!!!” T2 yelled as she searched every nook and cranny inside her workshop. Her chao, Chaotic, had disappeared since this morning, and she can’t find him anywhere. She was beginning to get worried. T2 sighed. “Since I can’t find him here in my workshop,” she thought, “I might as well asked Knuckles and the others and see if they have seen Chaotic anywhere.” With that in mind, she went out of the door, and flew off to find her friends. * * * * * Place: Echidna Towers, Echidnaopolis “Dang, who’da thought it would be Robotnik that nabbed the Master Emerald and exploded the Chaos Chamber,” said Mighty as he, Knuckles and the rest of the Chaotix were sitting on the steps in front of Echidna Towers. Knuckles was telling the Chaotix about the events that had happened recently while the people of the Mysterious Cat Country held them captive. So far, he got to the part about Dr. Robotnik being behind what had happened, and it surprised everyone. Espio spoke up, “Last I recall, you told us he was good and dead, Knux.” “Yeah,” said Julie-Su, “and that the Robotnik we saw with Dimitri not too long ago was just a robot duplicate of him.” “I thought so, too,” Knuckles replied, “But then Constable Remington showed me and the Brotherhood a clip of the shadowbot attack in Echidnaopolis, with the Eggman leading them.” “We shoulda known it was ol’ Robo-Butt who was behind all o’ this!” Vector grumbled. “Bad enough we got plenty of trouble here. Now we gotta worry about him, too.” Knuckles rubbed his chin. “The Eggman also had a new look…” Vector cocked a brow, “New look? Whaddya mean, Knux?” “Well, he did look different than before. He didn’t wear his yellow cape, he had a red outfit that was totally different, he also wore small black glasses…” “Has anyone seen Chaotic?” asked a voice from behind them. The Chaotix turned around, only to find T2 standing in front of them, her arms akimbo. Espio shook his head, “No we haven’t, T2. Why? Is he missing?” “Yeah, and I can’t find him anywhere. I looked in my workshop, in the Sky Sanctuary Zone, in Rainbow Valley, everywhere I can think of that he would hang out. I thought I’d also check on Knuckles because I know he’d follow him.” Chaotic has a liking towards Knuckles, and followed him wherever he went, which made Knuckles feel a little uncomfortable. Knuckles never liked Chaotic very much, and is always aggravated when the little chao followed him around. He’d always tell T2 to put Chaotic on some kind of leash or something to keep Chaotic from tagging along with him. T2 sighed deeply, “Are you sure you guys haven’t seen him?” “Sorry, Prower. Haven’t seen any sign of yer lil’ onion head,” Vector exclaimed. “Oh. Thanks anyway…” She turned to go, but then T2 stopped. An idea just popped out of her head. She turned to Knuckles. “Knuckles, maybe you can help me search for him.” Knuckles’ jaw dropped. “Me?! Uh-uh! No way! I ain’t gonna find your freakin’ pet!” “Why not? I’m sure if you help me look for him; it’d be easier to find him. Cuz knowing that he likes you a lot - - “ He folded his arms across his chest. “That’s EXACTLY why I don’t want to go. One look at me, and that chao will end up following me for the rest of the day!” “Please?! Just this one time! If you help me, I SWEAR I’ll try my best to make sure Chaotic doesn’t follow you again. Please, K?! You gotta help me. Chaotic could be hurt…” Knuckles looked at her. T2 had her hands folded and looked at him, her eyes pleading. He sighed. He could see that Chaotic meant a lot to her. Knowing that T2 did a lot for him, like assisting him when he led the Forgotten Tribe to Albion, and helping him find the Master Emerald shards Robotnik stole, the least he could do is look for her pet for his friend, his partner. Knuckles stood up and said, “I just KNOW I’m gonna regret this…” T2 cheered, lifted him up and hugged him tight. “Oh thank you, Knuckles! Thank you! You’re a pal!!” Knuckles began gasping for air. T2 happened to be almost as strong as Mighty himself, and now she was squeezing the daylights out of him. “Okay! Okay! You can… let go of me… T2!” She put him down, and laughed nervously as he gasped and panted. “Heh heh heh…. Sorry, K!” T2 took Knuckles’ hand and zoomed towards the sky. “What’re we waiting for? Let’s go!” * * * * * Place: Near the entrance of the Master Emerald Altar Knuckles scratched his head and looked around. T2 told Knuckles to try looking for him in places he wouldn’t normally go to, while she again searched if she could find him in places he would often go to. He decided to go to the Master Emerald Alter. He knew he was the only chao that wouldn’t hang out at the newly improved Chaos Chamber, so he must be there. After Super Sonic defeated Perfect Chaos, a group of chao that came from Station Square’s chao garden came to meet with Tikal, Chaos and his family, before they departed. That group of chao happened to be the descendants of Chaos and his family. When Tikal, Chaos and his family left to return to the Mystic Ruins and the Black Emerald, the Chao clan descendants departed with Knuckles and T2 to live on the Floating Island. Two of the chao clan descendants were T2’s pets. ChaoZ, the water chao, was one. Unfortunately, she had to let him go so he can stay with the other members of the chao clan. Chaotic was her other chao. He didn’t want to stay with his fellow chao, and stayed with T2 in her workshop. ChaoZ and Chaotic, along with 3 other chao, are also the owners of the jewel pendants. There are 5 jewel pendants: The pearl, the amethyst, the sapphire, the ruby, and the emerald. When the chao have these jewels, they become powerful, and have incredible powers. The emerald pendant is the most powerful pendant. A chao who has this pendant is the most powerful chao. Chaotic happened to get the emerald pendant, while ChaoZ has the sapphire. Knuckles gave up. He saw ChaoZ and the other chao flying around the Master Emerald, worshipping it, but he didn’t see Chaotic with them. The chao obviously wasn’t around here and he started to glide back. Suddenly, something on the steps of the Master Emerald Alter caught his eye. “I wonder what that could be,” he thought to himself. He walked over to the altar to find out. * * * * * Place: Echidna Towers, Echidnaopolis The Chaotix waited for Knuckles’ return for finding Chaotic. T2 was with them. She already looked at the places she thought Chaotic would go to again and again, but she found nothing. She sat on the steps, sulking. “I sure hope he’s okay,” T2 said softly. Espio put a hand on T2’s shoulder, comforting her. “Don’t worry. I’m sure Knuckles will find him.” She looked up at him, “Oh, me, too…” Julie-Su suddenly saw Knuckles gliding towards them. Behind Knuckles was a glowing, emerald green ball followed by silver sparkles. “Look, T2. There he is. And it looks like Chaotic’s with him” T2 suddenly jumped up. “He’s got Chaotic?! Really?! Where is he?” “He’s about to land now.” Knuckles landed near the steps. T2 was getting anxious, “So where is he? Is Chaotic all right?” Knuckles scratched his head and looked up where the glowing ball is. “He’s up there… though, I’m not sure if he’s all right…” “What do you mean by that?” “You better take a look at him, T2. Seems to me that Chaotic had a serious makeover!” Chaotic flew down to the ground. By the time he reached the ground, the whole Chaotix group gasped in unison and gazed in awe. Chaotic’s skin was heavenly white. Each of his hands has grown 3, semi-pointy fingers, plus they are clear that you can see through them. The tips of his feet were colored pale yellow, green and blue. Chaotic’s stomach was pale blue, while in the back of him, pale yellow. At the tip of his head was pale light blue, and going down from the back it was stripped with pale light blue and yellow. His eyes were green, and the ball that used to be on top of his head was replaced with a ball of light. Chaotic had become… “The Ultimate Chao!” T2 whispered in awe, her eyes wide. Mighty looked at her, “The what chao?” “The Ultimate Chao,” T2 repeated. “You see, back at Station Square, I was at the public library and I picked up a book about chao. I read that there are different types of chao, but the Ultimate Chao was the rarest of them all. “The Ultimate Chao is also known as the Light or Chaos Chao. In order for a normal chao to evolve into a Light Chao, the chao must rebirth at least twice. During its first 2 lives, it should not get DNA from the animals which chao use to evolve; or else the process would not work. “When the chao hatches and begins its new life the third time, it will get the DNA of all the animals it needs in order to change into the Light Chao. There are about 15 specific animals it can get, and those 15 animals are the same kind of animals that other chao use to evolve into the several different types of chao I saw in the book. “After getting the DNA, the chao will wrap a cocoon around itself, and start to evolve. A sign that shows that the whole process was a success is that the cocoon will begin to sparkle. When the cocoon disappears, you have the Light chao.” “That’s amazing,” said Espio. “Do you think this is the reason why he disappeared this morning?” “I guess so.” Vector, who was listening to his walkman at the time when T2 was explaining all this, said, “So how did it evolve into that in the first place?” Everyone looked at him. “What?!” T2 slapped her hand on her forehead, and exclaimed, “I ain’t explaining this to him. Somebody else do this." Knuckles decided to get a closer look at Chaotic, so he bent down to look at the mini-Chaos face-to-face. They stared at each other for a while. Suddenly Chaotic poked Knuckles on the nose, which is his favorite hobby. Everyone laughed, except Vector, who was still completely clueless, and Knuckles, who was starting to get angry at Chaotic, but he decided to save it for another time. He rubbed his nose, saying, “It’s true what they say. Old habits die hard!” The others continued laughing (except Vector), and Chaotic flew up to Knuckles, poked him again, and sat on his head, feeling very content. Fin
