Their Wonderful Family By:SnowPuppy Kay-Si looked at Steppenwolf, and she was trying to say something but the words just wouldn't come out of her mouth. "Please tell me, Kay-Si. I cannot help you if you dont." Steppenwolf told her. "Okay... well.. I'm... I'm.." Kay-Si began. "Your what?" Steppenwolf asked her once more. "I'm... I'm pregnant." Kay-Si slowly said. "You are?!" Steppenwolf said shockingly. "Yes... no joke. I had a test, which was positive. We are going to have a third child." Said Kay-Si calmly. "You shouldn't have been afraid to tell me that." Steppenwolf told her. "Yes.. but remember? That agreement we had so very long ago?" Kay-Si said(for more information on that agreement, read the fanfic "Now They Are a Family".). "Yes but that agreement was already broken when you got pregnant with our daughter Tray-Si." Said Steppenwolf. "Oh.. yeah. But it's always difficult for me to tell you I'm pregnant, I got afraid of telling you when I was pregnant with Tray-Si, remember? That's just how I am." Said Kay-Si. "Well I for one am glad that we are going to have a third child." Said Steppenwolf. "Thanks." Replied Kay-Si. They then gave each other a hug and a kiss and went to go tell their firstborn Moonwatcher about the news. "Wow, I'm really going to have a brother or another sister?" Said Moonwatcher excitedly. "Yes, and he, or she, is right in there." Said Kay-Si, putting Moonwatcher's hands on her stomach. "Oh, I cant wait 'til it's born so I'll know if it's a girl or a boy." Said Moonwatcher delightfully. "Well you'll find out when it's born, but it wont be anytime soon, I've just conceived." Said Kay-Si. "Oh, so thats why you haven't been yourself lately." Said Moonwatcher. "Yes." Replied Kay-Si. "But I still dont get it. Why would being pregnant make you feel different all of a sudden?" Asked Moonwatcher confusingly. "Because, thats just what being pregnant does, honey. It's just like that." Replied Kay-Si. "Wow there's still so many things I dont know, and that was one of them!" Said Moonwatcher astonishingly. "Yes, sweetheart, there's many things in the world that hardly anyone knows. But most of them you will figure out sooner or later, and others you'll never figure out." Kay-Si told Moonwatcher. "I dont even understand some things you and dad say!" Said Moonwatcher. "Well, dont worry. You will someday. And if you dont, then you never were meant to." Said Kay-Si. "Yeah, well, I guess there's plenty of time for me to learn what I haven't yet." Said Moonwatcher. "Yes, honey. Plenty of time. Just dont worry about it right now." Said Kay-Si. "Okay. Can I...?" Asked Moonwatcher. "If you like, but be careful." Said Kay-Si. Moonwatcher slowly rubbed his hands across his mother's stomach. "Well it doesn't feel like a regular stomach, thats for sure." Said Moonwatcher. "That's because I'm pregnant right now... and right now, in there is more than just my stomach, there is also a new life in there." Kay-Si told Moonwatcher. "Wow.. it feels lumpy kind-of." Said Moonwatcher. "Yes, but it will get more lumpy soon. Remember when I was pregnant with your sister Tray-Si?" Said Kay-Si. "Yeah, I remember. Your stomach was way, way past it's regular size! But I never got to feel it before." Said Moonwatcher. "And the reason why it feels so lumpy is because thats part of the egg your feeling." Said Kay-Si. "So, when you get pregnant, what happens? I'm just curious." Said Moonwatcher. "Well the egg has to fully develop..." Said Kay-Si. "Has this egg fully developed?" Moonwatcher asked. "No, not fully yet. If it was, my stomach would be much bigger than this." Said Kay-Si. "Oh." Said Moonwatcher. "But why are you asking these questions? You cant ever get pregnant, your not a female." Said Kay-Si. "I know, I just was curious about it, thats all." Said Moonwatcher. "Well, okay. Hey, it's getting late. You should go to bed, hon." Said Kay-Si. "Okay, goodnight mom." Moonwatcher said. "Goodnight, sweety." Said Kay-Si, then she walked out of the room. Kay-Si walked into her room and got in bed. Steppenwolf got into bed soon after her. When they awoke, they were all in the kitchen, for breakfast. When they were finished, it was time for Steppenwolf and Moonwatcher to go out for guard duty, as usual. But before he walked out the door, Steppenwolf stopped in his tracks. "What's wrong?" Kay-Si asked him. Steppenwolf turned to face Kay-Si and said, "Can you give me a kiss before I leave?" Kay-Si laughed a bit and then they both kissed each other. But they didn't know that they had an audience. Outside, looking through the window, was Vycky-Na. It seemed that she had found out that Steppenwolf was alive and well, and she was up to her old tricks again. "The perfect plan, I got the perfect plan this time!" She said to herself. She took out a small bottle that said the word "poison" on it. Underneath it it said "very deadly". "I'll just offer that Kay-Si some lemonade, but she'll have no idea that it'll have poison in it! And I've got to disguise myself, if I dont those two wont trust me!" Said Vycky-Na evilly. She disguised herself as someone else, and knocked on the door. Steppenwolf went to go get it. "Hello my name is... Yvonne-Li. I was just passing by and wondering if your wife would like some lemonade." Vycky-Na said to Steppenwolf. "Why do you want her specifically, to have the lemonade?" Steppenwolf asked her suspiciously. "Because... ummm.. er.." Vycky-Na said, trying to think up an excuse. "Oh, you must've heard that I was pregnant?" Kay-Si asked. "Pregnant? Oh.. umm.. yes!" Said Vycky-Na. Pregnant? She's pregnant?! Just what I need! Now this is going to be even harder for me because they have another offspring! Just my luck! Thought Vycky-Na. "Well...?" Kay-Si said, getting impatient. "Oh, um, yes! Yes of course!" Said Vycky-Na, running into the kitchen. She squeezed some lemon juice in a glass, and when the lemonade was finished, she added the poison. She smiled evilly and went back into the living room. "Here's your lemonade, Mrs.Echidna." Said Vycky-Na, handing Kay-Si the glass of lemonade. "Thank you.. I guess." Said Kay-Si. "Well, go ahead! Drink it!" Said Vycky-Na, anxious. "Kay-Si.. I dont think you should drink that..." Said Steppenwolf, but he was too late. Kay-Si had already drank some of the lemonade. "Why... whats wrong?" Kay-Si asked him. "I dont know... I just get the feeling that you shouldn't of drank any of that lemonade." Said Steppenwolf. "Your husband is right, Kay-Si. Very right. My name isn't Yvonne-Li, it's Vycky-Na! And what you just got through drinking was poisonous lemonade!" Said Vycky-Na with a smirk on her face. "Poisonous lemonade...? That means I'm going to die! I'm going to die for sure because.. what I was told last time I was encountered with something fatal.. they told me... I would die. Now its true. I am going to die." Said Kay-Si, crying terribly. "What, will you miss your life?" Asked Vycky-Na. "No, I will miss my family. And the.. the baby! Oh I never will be able to give birth to it! And I wont get to watch Moonwatcher grow up.. this is terrible!" Said Kay-Si. "No, Kay-Si! You wont die if I get you to the hospital on time!" Said Steppenwolf, picking up the sobbing Kay-Si. When they got to the hospital Steppenwolf told everyone the whole story. He was now crying himself, there was stained tears and new tears all over his face. He didn't know what to do. Finally, nurse Kau-Mi came to tell Steppenwolf some news. "I'm sorry, but it doesn't look that good for your wife, Steppenwolf. Your child, however, is fine, for the time being. The poison didn't seem to get to the egg your wife is carrying. But, once she dies, the baby will die with her. The baby cannot live without it's mother to care for it, you know." Said Kau-Mi. "But.. no, she cant die!" Said Steppenwolf. "We've done everything we could for her. We'll have to give her a quick burial. Her grave is currently being prepared for her. And we have a casket for her, as well. Sorry, but your wife is dying... there's nothing we can do." Said Kau-Mi, then she walked away. More tears covered Steppenwolf's face. He ran to find Kay-Si. She was outside, and she was about to be put in the casket. Steppenwolf couldn't believe what he was seeing. He ran over to her. He put his hands on her chest, and felt a faint, very faint, heartbeat. -----Where Kay-Si is---- Kay-Si was currently in a place unknown to her. She looked all around. There, the angel, that same angel that she had seen before, appeared to her. "It's time to go, Kay-Si." Said the angel. "No... I cant... I wont.. I dont want to die!" Said Kay-Si upsettingly. "Sorry, Kay-Si.. but this time you have no option. It is the time for you to die.. I'm very, very sorry." Said the angel. "No! I cant! I have so much to live for! I need to stay with my husband! I need to watch Moonwatcher grow up! I need to give birth to my baby! I got so many reasons to live! Please, I dont want to go now;not yet!" Said Kay-Si. "I can see in your eyes that your love for your family is strong. I can see that you want more than anything to go back to them. But it is the time, Kay-Si! Now is the time!" Said the angel. "No;it cant be the time! It cant! It cant!" Said Kay-Si upsettingly. "Very well." Said the angel. "What? You mean I can go back?" Asked Kay-Si. "Yes, you can go back just this once.. but next time..." Said the angel. "Yes I understand. Just please take me back to my family!" Said Kay-Si, sobbing very hardly. "Okay, but you must hurry. Time is running out. You must get back into your body before your heart stops. All will be lost of you dont." Said the angel. Kay-Si then felt herself going down onto the ground. She looked around. There was her husband.. leaning over her?! She gasped. She saw her own self! She really WAS out of her body! She walked towards it. But the angel had not told her how to get back into her body. She just barely put her hand through her body and she got sucked back up in it. She coughed hardly. Then she opened her eyes and saw her husband right there, looking down at her. "Kay-Si! Your alright!" Said Steppenwolf, leaning down to hug her. Everyone was surprised about how Kay-Si recovered. But only three people knew how she had survived;Steppenwolf knew, Moonwatcher knew, and of course, Kay-Si knew. Ooops, I forgot to mention someone else;the angel knew, too, of course. And also, Kay-Si was overjoyed that her baby was alive and okay. As weeks and months flew by, Kay-Si's stomach got much bigger. Steppenwolf knew that Kay-Si would be giving birth to their baby soon. And one day, it happened. Kay-Si was ready to give birth to their baby. She was tooken to the hospital right away. But this time, Steppenwolf decided to watch this all happen. Kay-Si was in terrible pain, and, finally, the egg was out. She was relieved that this part of the birth of the baby was over. She just couldn't wait for the baby to hatch, that was her favorite part, she decided. "Kay-Si, how are you feeling?" Steppenwolf asked her. "Tired... exhuasted... wanting to rest... you get the picture." Said Kay-Si. "Yes, Kay-Si... I get the picture." Said Steppenwolf. They then held hands and patiently waited for their baby to hatch out of it's egg. And when it did, it was a boy. They named him Dylan. But then a terrible pain hit Kay-Si. They soon found out that another egg was inside of her. They were going to have more than one baby! Kay-Si thought about that dream she had long ago about having quadruplets(read the fanfic "Guardian in Training" for more information!), was her dream possibly coming true? Well, no, not exactly. Instead of quadruplets, she had twins. She, again, had to experience the painful part... AGAIN. But her second baby didn't survive. Kay-Si cryed about their loss, she only wished that she could've had that baby, too. But something terrible... very terrible... happened. One day when Kay-Si was coming in to see how her newborn baby was doing, she found out that he was gone. They called the police, but it didn't work. They didn't find baby Dylan. Kay-Si was in tears. "First I lose one of my twins.. now I lose the other one! And, remember when Tray-Si got killed? Oh why cant I have a second child?! They are always being taken away from me! Always! It's like a curse or something!" Said Kay-Si through her sobs. Steppenwolf and Moonwatcher both comforted her, but they, too, were devastated about this. It was true what Kay-Si said;it was like she wasn't aloud to have a second child. All three of them, Kay-Si, Steppenwolf, and Moonwatcher, were very silent. They had hardly said anything to each other since this terrible thing happened. Finally, something miraculous broke the terrible silence. There was a knock at the door. Kay-Si went to go get it. What she saw before her eyes brightened her spirit. It was Loren, the retired police officier, and baby Dylan! "We found your baby, ma'am. And because of you, I went back to my job. I see how much I'm helping helpless families such as yours. Here's your baby." Said Loren, handing Kay-Si the young, newborn child. Having Dylan back brightened up everyone's spirit. And it wasn't as silent anymore. Kay-Si was glad her baby was alright. Maybe she wasn't cursed after all! And Kay-Si was very happy that everything was back to normal.. well, not everything. Their family has changed... for the better! They now had a new member of their family. And one day, Kay-Si was in the kitchen, doing dishes, as usual. Her husband and son were out for guard duty. And she had to take care of Dylan, which delighted her. Dylan had a pacifier in his mouth, and he was in his high chair. He was sucking on the pacifier and watching his mother do the dishes. Then Kay-Si heard the door. Steppenwolf and Moonwatcher were coming back in. Steppenwolf kissed Kay-Si on the cheek and Moonwatcher grabbed another orange out of the orange bowl, which Kay-Si knew he was going to do. Moonwatcher always got an orange when he came in from his breaks. Kay-Si was certain that one day he would get sick because of eating too many of them. "You, my friend, are getting a vacation." Said Steppenwolf, taking the rag that Kay-Si was holding out of her hand. "How am I getting a vacation?" Asked Kay-Si. "We are all going on vacation, all of us. Well, except for Dylan." Said Steppenwolf. "Really?" Kay-Si asked. "Really. We are all going on vacation." Replied Steppenwolf. "To where?" Asked Kay-Si. "You'll see." Said Steppenwolf. About a week later, they were going on their vacation. And they had to get on a boat, which was wobbly. And Kay-Si did not like this. Neither did Moonwatcher. "It's really wobbly!" Said Moonwatcher. "You get that from your mother." Steppenwolf pointed out. Dylan couldn't come along on their vacation because they figured the trip would be too much for him. So Kay-Si's sister, Nick-Ol, babysat for Dylan for the first time. But Moonwatcher was old enough to come on the trip, and he was very happy because he got to go. It would be his very first vacation, since he has never gone on one before. Kay-Si kept asking Steppenwolf were they were going. But he wouldn't tell her. He told her it was a surprise. Kay-Si told him that she wasn't going to talk to him for the rest of the trip, but actually, it didn't work, because Steppenwolf got her to talk to him. And that amused everyone. Kay-Si was getting very anxious to see where they were going. Steppenwolf told her that she would just have to wait. Soon, Moonwatcher began to pick up his mother's habit and started to ask Steppenwolf the same thing. "You get that from your mother, too." Steppenwolf said. Everyone laughed. "But really! Where are we going?" Asked Moonwatcher. "Yeah, where?" Kay-Si asked. Steppenwolf shook his head. "Your both very impatient, you know that? Like I've told you before, you'll just have to wait." He told them. "I'm getting tired of that word." Said Kay-Si. "What, impatient?" Steppenwolf asked. "No, wait! I'm getting tired of that word. I'm getting tired of waiting!" Said Kay-Si. "Well, I'll say this, then. Be patient, okay?" Said Steppenwolf. Kay-Si and Moonwatcher sighed and knew that they weren't going to get it out of Steppenwolf. They would just have to wait after all. They all decided that getting something to eat would maybe take their minds off of where they were going. Kay-Si had what was called the "Green Bean Casserole Special". Moonwatcher thought that was icky so he decided to get something else. When the waitress asked Moonwatcher what he wanted, he thought for a moment. "I want... a banana split!" Said Moonwatcher happily. Both the waitress and Kay-Si looked at him funny. "Okay! Okay! I'll have... hmmm ... I cant decide." Said Moonwatcher. "Why dont you have what I'm having?" Kay-Si asked. "Because it sounds gross!" Said Moonwatcher. "Well, it's not. Why dont you try something new, honey? I remember a long time ago, before I met your father, long before I met him, my cousin was trying to get me to eat green bean casserole, but I thought it was gross, too." Said Kay-Si. "You mean your cousin Susan?" Asked Moonwatcher. "Yes. One of her favorite foods was green bean casserole and she wanted me to try it. Finally, I did, and I loved it!" Said Kay-Si. "Okay.. I guess I can try it." Said Moonwatcher, shrugging. "Okay. That's two green bean casserole specials. Got it!" Said the waitress, then she walked off. "Mother, where's father?" Asked Moonwatcher. "I dont know, honey. He said he went to go do something." Said Kay-Si. "Do you have any idea what he went to do?" Asked Moonwatcher. "Sweetheart, if I had any idea at all what your father was up to, that'd be a first." Said Kay-Si. "Well, I haven't seen him since this morning." Said Moonwatcher. "Well dont look at me, he's full of surprises when it comes to vacations." Said Kay-Si. "Do you think what he's doing is a surprise?" Moonwatcher asked. "How should I know?" Said Kay-Si. "Mother, can we have some banana splits for dessert?" Moonwatcher asked hopefully. "We'll see." Said Kay-Si. "Kay-Si!" Said Steppenwolf, walking over to the table. "I've been wondering where you were." Said Kay-Si. "Yeah, where have you been?" Asked Moonwatcher. "That's something that wont be told to you until later on in the day." Said Steppenwolf. "And whats that you got on your hands?" Kay-Si asked, noticing Steppenwolf holding up two plates with tissue paper covered over them. "That's another part of "where I was"." Said Steppenwolf, sitting the two plates on the table. "That's it! I get told nothing! I'm going to hold up a sign saying "this kid is in desparate need of being told stuff"!" Said Moonwatcher. "Oh Moonwatcher, dont be silly. You'll know what I'm talking about, just not now. If you knew right now, it would take the fun out of the surprise." Said Steppenwolf. "Well, okay, I was only kidding about that sign business anyway." Said Moonwatcher, grinning. "Well thats a good thing because if you were serious then I'd have to hold up a sign saying, "this lady is in desparate need of getting her son back"!" Said Kay-Si. "Well if that happened then I'd have to hold up a sign saying, "this echidna is in desparate need of getting his wife and son back"!" Joked Steppenwolf. They all three laughed and then the waitress came back with their orders. "Hey, father, you didn't order anything!" Said Moonwatcher. "That's right. He was at, wherever he was, when we all ordered our food." Said Kay-Si. "That's alright, I'm not hungry anyway." Said Steppenwolf. Soon, after they were finished eating, Steppenwolf announced that they was ready for the first part of the surprise. "You mean we finally get to know?! Okay, I dont want that sign any more!" Said Moonwatcher happily. "You get to know PART of it." Said Steppenwolf. "Okay, so what is it?" Kay-Si asked anxiously. "See for yourselves." Said Steppenwolf, pushing both of the plates either way, where both Moonwatcher and Kay-Si got one. "You mean we both get our own separate surprises? Oh, goody!" Said Moonwatcher, starting to take off the tissue paper. When he was finished taking off all of the tissue paper(believe me, there was alot of it.) he loved the sight he seen before his eyes! There were a couple of oranges on the plate and a banana split(that Moonwatcher had been begging his parents for). "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" Said Moonwatcher excidedly. Kay-Si was the next to find her surprise. She took off the tissue paper, and she, too, loved the sight she seen before her eyes. It was a couple of plums and a cinnamon role. "So that's why you told us not to order dessert!" Kay-Si noticed. "Yep, that's right." Said Steppenwolf. "But this still doesn't explain where you were." Said Kay-Si. "Isn't it obvious? I was in the kitchen!" Said Steppenwolf. "The kitchen? The kitchen in this restuarant? I thought only employees were aloud to go back there." Said Kay-Si in confusement. "They are. But I was aloud back there because I'm a guardian." Said Steppenwolf. "Oh, so that's why. But why didn't you just order it here instead of going in the kitchen?" Asked Kay-Si. "You'll find out." Said Steppenwolf. Kay-Si found out what Steppenwolf meant when she picked at the cinnamon role. There was a diamond necklace inside of it. "What a SWEET way to give someone a present!" Joked Kay-Si. And Moonwatcher's present was a pendant with his name on it. "So this is why you've been gone so long!" Said Moonwatcher. "Yes, but there's another surprise for you. You still dont know where we're going." Said Steppenwolf. THE END So... where IS Steppenwolf taking his family? Find out in my next fanfic!
