Vacation, Wish it Would Never End
By: SnowPuppy
Kay-Si was in the living room cradling baby Dylan, when her husband and
son
came into the room.
"I have an announcement to make." Spoke up Kay-Si's husband,
Steppenwolf.
"What is it?" Asked Kay-Si, looking up at him.
"Well... we are going on vacation!" Said Steppenwolf.
"Vacation? But we just went on vacation a few months ago." Said Kay-Si
confusingly.
"Yeah... but this time we are going on a winter vacation, instead of a
summer
vacation. We are going up to the mountains. And luckily for you, we
dont get
on a boat this time." Teased Steppenwolf.
"Oh... how are we going to get there, then?" Wondered Kay-Si.
"By plane." Replied Steppenwolf.
"Oh... hey, I've never been on an airplane before..." Said Kay-Si.
"Ugh! Here we go again." Said Steppenwolf.
"Oh, I can't wait! Does Dylan get to come?" Asked Moonwatcher.
"I think he's still a little too young, honey." Replied Kay-Si.
"Oh. Well, when are we going?" Asked Moonwatcher.
"Next week." Replied Steppenwolf.
**A week later**
Steppenwolf, Kay-Si, and their son, Moonwatcher, were on the airplane,
and
Kay-Si wasn't too sure about this. She was just getting used to the
boat and
now she had to try something new again.
But Moonwatcher was anxious as to what riding in an airplane felt like.
Finally, the airplane took flight.
"I dont think I like riding in airplanes very much either." Kay-Si
managed to
say.
"I like it. Kind-of, anyway." Said Moonwatcher, looking out the window
of the
plane.
Moonwatcher looked down. He noticed that they were getting higher.
"Gosh!! We must be pretty high up, huh?" Moonwatcher said.
"Yeah, I'll bet." Said Kay-Si.
"Your right on that, we ARE high up." Said Steppenwolf, finally saying
something.
"Yes, we are! I dont think I like riding in planes anymore," said
Moonwatcher, "when will we be there?"
"Probably a few hours. Airplanes are a lot faster than boats." Replied
Steppenwolf.
"Good. I dont think I could spend two or more days in an airplane! I'd
get
sick." Said Kay-Si.
"So would I." Said Moonwatcher.
But soon, hours later, they finally got to get off the plane. And when
they
seen where they would be spending their winter vacation, they were
amazed.
They loved the sight.
"Wow! Look at all these mountains! I feel so small." Said Moonwatcher,
looking around.
"Yeah... but, it is pretty cold out here." Said Kay-Si, shivering.
"We should get inside." Said Steppenwolf.
"Where are we going to be staying? I dont see a hotel or anything."
Said
Moonwatcher confusingly.
"We're going to be staying in a cabin." Replied Steppenwolf.
"Oh. I see now." Said Moonwatcher.
Finally, they all got to go in the cabin. Kay-Si was right;it WAS cold
out
there. Since it was pretty cold up there, Kay-Si made them all hot
chocolate.
Moonwatcher was most delighted at this. Then, he looked out the window.
"Wow, there's snow everywhere out there!" Exclaimed Moonwatcher.
"Yes, up here it gets so cold that it snows all the time." Replied
Steppenwolf.
"Wow, I sure wouldn't wanna live up here! I'd get cold all the time."
Said
Moonwatcher.
"I agree with you, honey. You probably would be cold all the time."
Said
Kay-Si to her son.
"Well, I'm going to go get some fire wood. I'll be back." Said
Steppenwolf.
"Okay, just be careful." Said Kay-Si.
Then he went out the door. Kay-Si sighed, and layed down on the couch.
She
was exhausted from the long day.
And then, Moonwatcher started to yawn. Kay-Si looked at him.
"You should get to bed, sweetheart. You look tired." Said Kay-Si.
"Okay." Agreed Moonwatcher.
Moonwatcher then got in bed and fell fast asleep. He woke up at 1:00AM,
and
he was no longer tired. He stared up at the ceiling for awhile and
sighed.
He heard his parents talking in another room. He was curious as to what
they
were saying, so he carefully got out of bed. He slowly opened the door,
and
peered around the side of it. Then he quietly walked out, trying not to
let
his parents hear him.
Then he walked into another room, and peaked around the side of a
corner. He
heard his parents talking about something. He listened closely.
"Kay-Si, I just think you should take a break, thats all." Said
Steppenwolf
to his wife.
"Yes, I know, but I dont mind really." Said Kay-Si to her husband.
"But you look tired all the time, Kay-Si. This is a vacation. Your
suppose to
take a break once in awhile." Said Steppenwolf.
"But really, I can handle it." Said Kay-Si.
"Just, please. Take a break once in awhile, okay?" Said Steppenwolf,
getting
up.
Moonwatcher then turned back and walked as fast as he could, back into
his
room. He sure hoped that his parents didn't hear him. He got back in
bed, and
thought for awhile.
What if they're talking about me? What if I'm what's making mother all
tired?
She should have a vacation. She should. Because, this is suppose to be
a
vacation... and it seems like mother doesn't act like it's one! Maybe I
should give her a vacation... and time to rest. I'll just go out and
spend my
vacation outside or something. It would be like giving mother a
vacation.
I've got to do that. Thought Moonwatcher.
He took his bag, and looked outside into the cold. He decided he'd
better
wear something warm. He took his coat out of his bag and put it on. He
waited
until he was sure both of his parents were back in their room, then he
walked
out.
He went into the living room, then stopped at the door that leads to
outside.
He slowly opened it and went out, into the cold.
He walked across the snow and looked all around. There was snow
everywhere,
and mountains everywhere. The wind was blowing really hard at him. He
looked
for a place to stay. Finally, he decided he would just build an igloo.
So he
did. He went inside of it and went to sleep, uncomfortably.
When he woke up, he looked out of the igloo. The wind wasn't blowing as
hard
as the night before, but there was still snow all around, which
Moonwatcher
knew there'd be.
He decided he would just go out and try to find something to eat. So he
did.
He got out of the igloo, and went to go find some food.
But he wasn't lucky. It was hard to find any food in the cold. He
decided
that there was only one thing he could do;he had to go back into the
cabin,
without his parents knowing, and grab something to eat.
He ran around the side of the cabin and peered into the window. His
parents
were still asleep.
Good. They're still asleep. He thought.
He then walked back to the entrance of the cabin, and slowly went in.
He
looked for something to eat, and finally found his favorite;oranges. He
took
them and ran out of the cabin, and back out into the cold. He went back
in
his igloo and ate one of the oranges.
When Moonwatcher's parents woke up, they soon found out Moonwatcher was
missing. Kay-Si started to worry about him, as usual.
"He's out there... in that cold. I hope he's alright. Oh, I got to find
him!"
Said Kay-Si.
"I'll go with you." Steppenwolf insisted.
So they both searched for him. Moonwatcher soon heard their calls, and
decided to move to someplace else. He grabbed his bag, and ran out of
the
igloo. He had to get far away from there;that way they would never find
him,
and that way his mom would get a vacation.
He ran up to one of the tallest snow-covered mountains.
They'll never find me up there. Thought Moonwatcher.
He slowly began to climb the mountain. Finally, after much time, he
made it
to the top. He looked over the edge.
Wow! I'm way high up! Thought Moonwatcher fearfully.
He took a blanket out of his bag and covered himself up in it. Then he
took
out an orange, and ate some of it.
It's going to be hard, living up here on a mountain and all. Thought
Moonwatcher.
He then took out some hot chocolate that was in a thermos, except it
wasn't
hot anymore. The cold weather had gotten it cold.
Oh well... I guess I'll just have to drink cold chocolate then. Thought
Moonwatcher, but he really didn't like that idea.
After that, he decided all he could do was go to sleep. He curled up in
his
blanket, and fell asleep.
But in the middle of the night, while he was sound asleep, he had
turned
over. And he was at the edge of the mountain. He was about to fall! And
what
a terrible fall that would be.
But it was too late. He was beginning to roll down the mountain. And
then he
hit the ground with a thud. But, luckily the snow acted as a pillow for
him,
for he was still breathing, lucky him!
But, what wasn't lucky, was he was bleeding. He needed help fast, but
no one
was there to help him. Finally, there was a good sign for him. A young
skier
was passing by, and she happened to spot the fallen Moonwatcher.
"Oh my! What happened here?" Said the young skier, looking down at
Moonwatcher.
She turned him over and looked at him.
"Oh, I better get you to a hospital." Said the skier, picking
Moonwatcher up
carefully.
The skier took Moonwatcher to the nearest hospital. She didn't know who
this
was, but she hoped that he would be okay.
When Moonwatcher woke up, he seen a female, pure-white echidna looking
down
at him.
"Who... who are you?" He asked.
"My name is Lyssa-Ra. Yours?" Said the white echidna.
"I'm... Moonwatcher. What are you doing here, though? I dont know you."
Said
Moonwatcher confusingly.
"No, but I'm sure your going to know me very soon. I was just skiing,
and I
was passing by, seen you laying on the ground bleeding, and I had to
help
you!" Answered Lyssa-Ra.
"Well, thank you! If it wasn't for you, I think I'd probably be dead by
now!"
Said Moonwatcher shockingly.
"Well, anyway, I brought you to the hospital so they could take care of
you,
but one problem. I dont know where you live. So I couldn't take you
back to
your family." Said Lyssa-Ra.
"Thats okay. You see, my family and I came here for a vacation. And, I
overheard my parents talking, and my dad thinks my mom needs more of a
vacation, he says she deserves to rest. And so, I began to think that
if I
ran away she would get more of a vacation. And I happened to run away
to the
top of a mountain. And then I fell down the mountain when I was
asleep... and
you found me. And so, here I am in the hospital." Said Moonwatcher.
"Oh. But haven't you ever thought of that running away wouldn't make
things
better? It would actually make things worse. I know, because I've ran
away
before. But it didn't help anything. I think you should go back home."
Said
Lyssa-Ra.
"I'd love to, Lyssy! But I really want to give my mom a vacation." Said
Moonwatcher.
"Well, believe me, you WONT be giving her a vacation by running away
from
home. It could worry her so much that it might even kill her. You've
got to
go back, Moonwatcher. You have to. That's where you belong. Not outside
in
the cold." Said Lyssa-Ra.
"Okay, I guess your right. But I left my bag with my stuff in it on the
top
of the mountain! How am I ever going to get it off?!" Said Moonwatcher,
panicking.
"Just leave that to me. You go on home." Said Lyssa-Ra.
"But, I dont want you to hurt yourself on a count of me, Lyssy! Even if
we
just met, I dont want you hurt!" Said Moonwatcher.
"Oh, dont worry about me. I do stuff like that all the time. I'm a
skier. So,
dont worry about me. I do more dangerous stuff than that." Said
Lyssa-Ra.
"Okay... but be careful!" Moonwatcher told Lyssa-Ra.
"Dont worry, I will." Lyssa-Ra reassured Moonwatcher.
Once they said it was okay, Moonwatcher got to go home. He knocked on
the
cabin's door, afraid of what his parents might say. But he still wanted
more
than anything to be back home where it was safe, and warm.
His mother opened the door. She looked at him happily.
"Moonwatcher! Your alright!" Said Kay-Si, hugging her son tightly.
"Yeah, I fell down a mountain, but I was rescued by a girl named
Lyssa-Ra,
and I'm alright now!" Said Moonwatcher.
"What?!" Said Kay-Si shockingly.
"Dont worry, mom. I'm alright now." Said Moonwatcher.
"Dont you ever do that again, you hear me?!" Said Kay-Si to her son.
And just then, Steppenwolf came into the room.
"Moonwatcher! There you are! What happened to you?!" Steppenwolf asked
Moonwatcher.
"Well... one night I happened to overhear a conversation you two had.
And I
thought that if I ran away, I would give mother a vacation." Admitted
Moonwatcher.
"Sweetheart, running away wouldn't solve anything like that! Infact,
instead
of giving me a vacation, you'd be doing the exact opposite!" Said
Kay-Si,
crying now.
"Why are you crying?" Asked Moonwatcher.
"Because I'm just so happy your okay!" Said Kay-Si happily.
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry I ran away. I will try my best to never do
anything
like that ever again." Said Moonwatcher.
"Okay, well, you better not." Said Steppenwolf.
"I wont." Promised Moonwatcher.
"Hey! Moonwatcher!" Said Lyssa-Ra, coming over.
"Lyssy! I thought you went to go find my stuff?" Said Moonwatcher
confusingly.
"I did. Here's you stuff, Moonwatcher." Said Lyssa-Ra, handing
Moonwatcher
his bag.
"Thanks... but I still dont get how you could've done that that fast."
Said
Moonwatcher.
"Well, I did. I have had a lot of practice climbing mountains. It's a
cinch."
Said Lyssa-Ra happily.
"Speak for yourself!" Said Moonwatcher.
"I've heard that you saved Moonwatcher, Lyssa. Please come in." Said
Kay-Si,
welcoming Lyssa-Ra in.
"Thanks!" Said Lyssa-Ra, entering the cabin.
Kay-Si shut the door and then Lyssa-Ra looked around.
"Nice cabin." She said.
"We're just vacationing here." Said Kay-Si.
"Oh, yeah. Moonwatcher told me. And you must be his mother, no?" Said
Lyssa-Ra.
"Yeah, I'm his mother." Replied Kay-Si.
"Well, pleased to meet ya. I'm Lyssa-Ra Ernings. We're just vacationing
here,
too. We come here every year." Said Lyssa-Ra happily.
"Hey, Lyssy! We have just met, and I dont know much about you." Said
Moonwatcher.
"Well, I guess I can tell you a bit about myself then. I'm sixteen
years old,
and love to ski. Mostly ski. Nothing beats skiing! Did I mention I like
to
ski?" Said Lyssa-Ra happily.
"Yeah, I kind-of figured that out." Said Moonwatcher with a giggle.
And so, Moonwatcher had a new friend. She came over almost every day.
Then,
one day that she came over, Moonwatcher had to tell her something.
"Uh... Lyssy..." he began.
"What is it?" Asked Lyssa-Ra.
"We're leaving for home today. Like I told you, we were only spending a
vacation here. We dont live here or anything." Said Moonwatcher.
"That's okay. Where do you live? Maybe I can come visit you sometime."
Said
Lyssa-Ra.
"We live on the floating island." Replied Moonwatcher.
"Oh, I know where that is! Dont worry, I'll come visit you!" Said
Lyssa-Ra.
"Okay." Said Moonwatcher.
"See ya!" Said Lyssa-Ra, walking out the door.
"Vacation, I wish it would never end!" Said Moonwatcher.
"Well I'm sorry honey, but it does. We have to go home now." Said
Kay-Si.
"Alright." Said Moonwatcher.
And so they got back on the airplane, and hoped to be home soon. Both
Kay-Si
and Moonwatcher really didn't like riding in airplanes, almost as much
as
they didn't like riding in boats.
When they were home, they were very happy. It had been a long vacation,
and a
very exhausting one. It was good to be home again.
At night, about 9:00PM, when they were getting ready to go to bed,
Moonwatcher heard a knock at the door.
He decided to answer it. So he got up. Who he saw before him startled
him.
It was Lyssa-Ra!
"Lyssy! What are you doing here at this hour?" Moonwatcher asked her.
"I came to visit you, like you said I could." Replied Lyssa-Ra.
"Yes, but at this time?! My parents are already in bed, and I was just
about
to get in bed myself." Said Moonwatcher.
"Oh. Sorry. I didn't know you went to bed this early." Apologized
Lyssa-Ra.
"Of course we go to bed this early. My father is the guardian of this
island
and he goes to bed early because he gets up early. And we go to bed the
same
time as him, is what my mother insists." Said Moonwatcher.
"Oh. I forgot that your father is the guardian. Completly left my mind.
Sorry." Said Lyssa-Ra.
"That's okay. As long as your here, why dont you come in?" Asked
Moonwatcher
poilitely.
"But I thought you said you were going to bed?" Said Lyssa-Ra
confusingly.
"I was, but now that I'm awake again it will probably be difficult for
me to
go back to sleep. And besides, you can only stay for about fifteen
minutes.
It's the least I can do." Said Moonwatcher.
"Oh, well, thanks! That's very sweet of you!" Said Lyssa-Ra.
So Lyssa-Ra stayed for about fifteen minutes. When she left,
Moonwatcher went
back to bed. He just hoped that his parents didn't hear Lyssa-Ra come
in at
9:00PM.
When Moonwatcher got up, he went to go visit Molly-Ca. He hadn't seen
her in
awhile and wanted to see how she was doing.
Moonwatcher rang Molly-Ca's doorbell.
Instead of Jessie-Ca answering it like she usually does, Molly-Ca
answered it.
"Hey, Moonwatcher! Long time no see. Please come in." Said Molly-Ca
politely.
"Thanks, Molly." Said Moonwatcher, coming in.
"How was your vacation?" Asked Molly-Ca.
"Great. It was terrific. I made a new friend named---" Began
Moonwatcher, but
he was cut off.
"Hey there! Your mom said you came over here, and I wanted to see how
you
were doing!" Said Lyssa-Ra, walking up to Molly-Ca's house.
"Who are you?" Molly-Ca asked.
"My name is Lyssa-Ra." Replied Lyssa-Ra.
"Yeah, she's the new friend I made." Said Moonwatcher.
"She is, huh?" Said Molly-Ca suspiciously.
"Yeah. And who might you be?" Asked Lyssa-Ra.
"Molly-Ca. Molly-Ca Bils, ms.innocence." Said Molly-Ca angrily.
"I beg your pardon?" Said Lyssa-Ra.
"You heard it. Ms.innocence. Thats just who you are! You try to act
like your
innocent and dont know anything, when you do! I cant believe you!" Said
Molly-Ca upsettingly.
"What are you talking about?!" Snapped Lyssa-Ra.
"You, you know what I'm talking about!" Said Molly-Ca.
"No I dont. What are you trying to say?!" Asked Lyssa-Ra.
"You should know what I'm trying to say, boyfriend stealer." Said
Molly-Ca.
"Boyfriend stealer?! No way! Molly-Ca, your mistaken. Lyssa-Ra is just
my
friend." Said Moonwatcher.
"No, she is more than "just a friend". I can see it in her eyes. Look
in her
eyes, Moonwatcher. You will see the truth." Said Molly-Ca.
"Molly-Ca, cool it! She's not trying to take me away from you!" Said
Moonwatcher.
"Yes she is. You know what I'm talking about, dont you, Lyssa? DONT
YOU?!"
Shouted Molly-Ca.
"Stop it, Molly-Ca! Your scaring her!" Said Moonwatcher.
"Well if I'm scaring her, then good. She should be scared. Because no
one
does this to me, and gets away with it!" Said Molly-Ca angrily.
"Tell her, Lyssy. Tell her you have no idea what she's talking about."
Said
Moonwatcher to Lyssa-Ra.
Lyssa-Ra stared in space. She was silent.
"Look at her face, Moonwatcher! You can tell she knows everything that
I'm
talking about!" Said Molly-Ca.
"Lyssy! Please tell her that you dont! Tell her that your not trying to
take
me away from her! Tell her!" Said Moonwatcher.
"I cant, Moonwatcher. Because... it's true." Said Lyssa-Ra in a very
low,
frightened tone of voice.
Moonwatcher looked at Lyssa-Ra. Then he looked at Molly-Ca. He didn't
know
what to do!
"There you have it, Moonwatcher! She just admitted that all this was
true! I
told you! It's as plain as day, right there on her face!" Said
Molly-Ca.
Lyssa-Ra then ran off. Moonwatcher ran after her.
"Moonwatcher! Get back here!" Yelled Molly-Ca.
"Sorry, Molly! I have something else to take care of first!" Yelled
Moonwatcher.
"Ugh! How dare he!" Said Molly-Ca to herself.
"Lyssa! Lyssa-Ra, come back here!" Shouted Moonwatcher, running after
Lyssa-Ra.
"What is it?" Asked Lyssa-Ra, finally stopping.
"Why'd you run away like that?" Asked Moonwatcher.
"Well, can you blame me! That Molly-Ca would've probably killed me if I
hadn't!" Said Lyssa-Ra.
"No she wouldn't!" Said Moonwatcher.
"Yes, she would! I can tell! She was about ready to strike." Said
Lyssa-Ra.
"Tell me, Lyssy. Is it true what you said? Do you...?" Asked
Moonwatcher.
"Yes, it's true. I have a crush on you, I admit. Now, if you dont mind,
I'd
like to head home now." Said Lyssa-Ra.
"Oh, of course. Bye." Said Moonwatcher.
Moonwatcher then walked home and went into his room. He added a new
entry to
his "Family Memories" book:
An entry:
Today is the most difficult day I've ever had in my whole intere life.
Two
people have a crush on me, and I dont know what to do! Who should I
pick? I
dont know what to do! I'm so confused! Well, I better go now.
'Til next time,
Moonwatcher
He went into the kitchen, where his mom was making dinner.
"Mother, I have a problem." He said.
"What is it, honey?" Kay-Si asked him.
"Today I found out that two people have a crush on me;Molly-Ca and
Lyssa-Ra!
I dont know what to do, mom!" Said Moonwatcher upsettingly.
"Well, sweety, I'm sorry. I would like to help you, but I can't. You
have to
figure this out on your own." Said Kay-Si.
Then, Moonwatcher heard the phone ring. He went to go answer it.
"Hello?" He said through the phone.
"Moonwatcher? It's Molly-Ca." Said Molly-Ca.
"Oh, Molly, I'm sorry about what happened today." Said Moonwatcher.
"Dont be. I have something to tell you, something I should have told
you, and
something I shouldn't have done." Said Molly-Ca, crying now.
"What is it?" Moonwatcher asked.
"I think you should pick Lyssa-Ra." Said Molly-Ca.
"No, Molly---!" Started Moonwatcher.
"Pick her, because I did something awful to you. All those times, that
I told
you, I loved you... it was just a fib. I do care about you, but I dont
love
you, love you. I was just using you because your the future guardian!
I'm so
sorry! Take Lyssa-Ra;I'm sure she loves you, I can see it in her eyes.
But
me, I never have. I'm very sorry, Moonwatcher! I really am!" Said
Molly-Ca,
sobbing hardly.
"What?!" Said Moonwatcher, shocked.
"It's true. I dont deserve to be your girlfriend any longer. All I did
was
use you, I never loved you. So please pick Lyssa-Ra;if you ever did
love me,
you'll pick her! Please!" Said Molly-Ca.
"Does this mean your dumping me?" Asked Moonwatcher.
"Yes, I'm dumping you. I'm sorry, but I just can't go along with this
anymore! It's eating me alive! If you picked Lyssa-Ra, it would make me
feel
a lot better." Said Molly-Ca.
"I dont really want to do this, but I guess I have no choice. Talk to
you,
later, Molly-Ca." Said Moonwatcher.
"No. There will be no later. I'm sorry, but I can't ever see you, or
speak to
you, ever again! It brings back those awful memories of me lying to
you;and
I'm so sorry! But this is just the way it has to be!" Said Molly-Ca,
then she
hung up.
Moonwatcher then slowly put down the phone. He couldn't believe what he
was
just told.
