Trust and Loyalty By:SnowPuppy After the Christmas Holiday, things settled down a bit. (For more information, read the last fanfic, "Memories".) The decorations got tooken down, and all the food from the Christmas dinner was pretty much already all eaten. And of course, the tree was gone from the house. Kay-Si was feeding her baby Lynz-Si, and Moonwatcher and Steppenwolf were out for guard duty. Susan had left for home a long time ago. So everything was pretty much like it was before. When Lynz-Si was sound asleep in Kay-Si's arms, she got up and put Lynz-Si back in her crib. She was very tired herself, and decided to go to bed early. It was only 8:00PM, but Kay-Si was very tired. It had been an exhausting day for her, taking down the Christmas decorations and all. The noise of the door woke her up. Her husband and son were back in. She just turned over, and tryed to get back to sleep. She just wanted the night to be over and morning to come. And in the morning, she had a very disturbing alarm clock. She had accidently hit her hand against a glass of water that she had forgot to pour out the night before, and the water spilled all over her. She woke with a start, and went to go dry herself off. She looked into the mirror and put her hand on her forehead. Boy, do I need a vacation! She thought. Her husband came into the room and looked at her worriedly. "Bad day?" He asked her. She slowly nodded her head. Steppenwolf laid a hand on her. "It'll be okay," he told her, "you just need a little break, thats all." Kay-Si agreed with her husband's words. She did need a break. Or a vacation, more like it. She sighed. There were so many things for her to take care of;the house, Lynz-Si, Dylan, and of course, her son's son, Harlan. She loved being a housewife, a mother, and a grandmother, all three, she really did, but she just needed a break from it all. And Steppenwolf noticed this from the expression on his wife's face. "You'll be alright, in time." He told her. "But, I just wish I could get a break, or more like it, a vacation, thats all. I have so much work to do, all day, every day." Kay-Si told her husband. "I know. And you do deserve a vacation. You work so hard and deserve one." Steppenwolf said to his wife. "But how can I have a vacation when I'm the only one around the house that can take care of the house, Lynz-Si, Dylan, and Harlan? You and Moonwatcher are always out, so that leaves me." Kay-Si said. Steppenwolf put his hand under his chin like he was deep in thought. Then, he spoke. "What about your sister Nick-Ol or your cousin Susan-Na? You could get one of them to take care of the house while you are on your vacation. You need one, Kay-Si. I can see that you are overworked." He told his tired wife. Kay-Si agreed. But not too long of a vacation, because she was the one that was really suppose to take care of the house and her family. She decided a week would be enough. A whole week of peace, quiet, and relaxation is what she needed. But what she didn't know was, that her "vacation" was going to be filled with more action than she ever dreamed. Vycky-Na was up to her old tricks again. And right when you thought we'd seen the last of her! "I'm getting about fed up with this! It's like that wife of the guardian has nine lives or something! Every time I try to get rid of her, she ends up surviving! I still dont get it. I have got to think of something else other than killing her. There has got to be another way to tear her and Steppenwolf apart!" Said Vycky-Na to herself. Then Vycky-Na had an idea. "I've gotta find some way to get them to go against each other! But how? Hmmm... I know! I have just the idea. I heard that Steppenwolf, and his cousin, Menniker, used to be really good friends. But then they went against each other because Menniker turned out to be just like his dad, evil! So maybe I can find some way for Steppenwolf to believe that his precious wife isn't siding with him anymore! But how? Those two could win the most-loyal-couples-award when it comes to trust and loyalty!" Said Vycky-Na to herself. Vycky-Na thought for a moment. Then she had another idea. "I know! I can write a letter to Steppenwolf telling him to watch out because his wife is starting to believe in what dark legionnaires believe in! Then I'll sign it, "an old friend". It'll be perfect! And even if Steppenwolf doesn't believe a word the letter says, it'll still make him wonder. A perfect way to separate those two for good!" Said Vycky-Na happily to herself. She then began working on the letter. This is what she wrote: Dear Steppenwolf, I came to warn you. Your wife is going against you. She is starting to side with the dark legionnaires. You better divorce her before she hurts you! I thought I'd warn you, because she isn't who she seems. Signed, An old friend Vycky-Na then folded up the letter and sat it by the door. She knocked on it and ran and hid. Steppenwolf came out and found the little piece of paper just laying there. He picked it up and went back inside. What he read on the paper shocked him. He couldn't believe his wife would do something like that. Infact, he didn't believe it. He decided he would just ask his wife about it first, and see what she had to say about this. "Kay-Si, I need to ask you something." Steppenwolf said to his wife. "What is it?" Kay-Si asked. "Read this." Said Steppenwolf, handing the piece of paper to Kay-Si. Kay-Si was shocked at what she read. "Is it true?" Steppenwolf asked her. "Of course not! I would never do something like that!" Kay-Si said upsettingly. "I know you wouldn't, but it still makes me wonder." Said Steppenwolf. "Why?" Asked Kay-Si. "Because I had a cousin named Menniker, and he was like a really good friend to me. Until I found out he went against me. I would be hurt if the same thing happened between you and me." Steppenwolf replied. "But I would never do something so horrible, Steppenwolf! I love you! I would never hurt you." Kay-Si told her husband. "Then why does this letter say you did, and why is it signed 'an old friend'?" Asked Steppenwolf. "I have no clue, but it's all a bunch of lies! Because I would never do something like that!" Kay-Si said upsettingly. "Well if it turns out to be true, I dont think I could ever love you again." Steppenwolf said. Those words hurt Kay-Si. She didn't know who wrote this letter, but whoever it was was trying to separate her and Steppenwolf, she knew they were. And she also knew that Steppenwolf couldn't make up his mind about if what the paper said was true, or if what Kay-Si said was true. Kay-Si's eyes started to swell up with tears. Who would do this to them? Who would hurt them so badly like this? Then one name came in mind. Vycky-Na. Vycky-Na had always been trying to separate her and Steppenwolf. She wouldn't be surprised if Vycky-Na was behind this, too. "Steppenwolf, I dont know what to say to you except this: I love you, and always had. I would never go against you. I love you too much. Someone like Vycky-Na probably wrote this, to separate us. She is always trying to separate us, and she never stops. Please believe me. What the letter said wasn't true. Believe me. If you love me, and if you ever loved me, then you'll believe me." Kay-Si said to Steppenwolf. "I do love you, Kay-Si. You have always been a good wife to me, and it's very hard for me to believe you'd turn on me." Said Steppenwolf. "Then dont believe it. Believe me. I love you, and I'm not going against you." Kay-Si said to her husband. "I believe you." Steppenwolf said with a smile. And then they both kissed. Vycky-Na was watching from the window. "I cannot believe this! I worked hard thinking up a plan and then Steppenwolf goes and listens to his wife! And to top it all off, he gives her a kiss! What is this world coming to?! I just cannot believe it. They are too loyal and trustful to each other;I'll probably never be able to separate them from how it looks! I need another plan. But I'll have to sleep on this one." Said Vycky-Na, then she ran off. "I knew you wouldn't go against me, Kay-Si," Said Steppenwolf. "Can you ever forgive me for doubting you?" "I will forgive you, if you give me another kiss." Replied Kay-Si. "It's a deal." Agreed Steppenwolf, then he gave Kay-Si another kiss. "Okay, I forgive you." Kay-Si told Steppenwolf. "Good, because I dont think I could ever stand it if you didn't forgive me." Said Steppenwolf. "Well, marriage IS suppose to be about trust, loyalty, love, and devotion." Said Kay-Si. "Yes and we have all those things." Said Steppenwolf to his wife. "I believe we do." Said Kay-Si happily. "So lets just show each other." Said Steppenwolf. "How?" Asked Kay-Si. "Another kiss." Said Steppenwolf. "Okay, I completly like that idea." Agreed Kay-Si. They then both kissed, again. And then, Kay-Si got off of her vacation. Even if the week wasn't over yet, she still felt rested and better. And she wanted to do all the things she used to do again. And so she did. Steppenwolf, Moonwatcher, and Dylan were all glad that Kay-Si was feeling better again. She was, indeed, back to her own self again. And that's when Steppenwolf decided that they should go to the park. They all needed some fresh air anyways. It was a beautiful day out. Dylan went to go play in the sandbox, Steppenwolf was watching him, Kay-Si was reading a book, and Moonwatcher was writing something. Lynz-Si and Harlan were in their strollers next to the bench Kay-Si and her son Moonwatcher were sitting on. "Hola!" Said a familiar voice. Kay-Si turned around and saw her cousin Susan. "Susan! What are you doing here?" Kay-Si asked her cousin. "I just happened to be here in the park to get some fresh air!" Susan answered. "What a coincidence, thats what we're here for, too!" Kay-Si exclaimed. "Cool!" Susan exclaimed. Susan stayed for awhile but soon had to go home. Kay-Si said goodbye to her cousin, and figured they'd better go home, too. It was getting late, and they didn't want to be outside in the dark. So they went home. They did the usual(Steppenwolf and Moonwatcher out for guard duty, Kay-Si reading and taking care of the children, etc.) and soon they went to bed. It had been a long day and they all needed a good night's sleep. When morning came, Kay-Si got up and started her day as usual. But she didn't seem to mind this time. But when Kay-Si was in the house all alone(except for Dylan, Lynz-Si, and Harlan, of course!), she heard a strange noise. She thought it nothing at first, but then she heard it again and again. She began to wonder what was making that noise. Then she heard that voice, that only she could hear;that she hadn't heard in a very long time. Dont go outside, Kay-Si! Stay inside. It told her. She gasped. Steppenwolf and Moonwatcher were outside! Yes, and it already has your husband and son. You must protect the rest of your family. Said the voice. "No! I want all of my family! I've got to go out there! I've got to save them from whatever your talking about!" Shouted Kay-Si. The voice spoke again. You'll be walking right into a trap, Kay-Si... "I dont care!" She told the voice. She opened the door, and she couldn't believe it... It was Vycky-Na! And she was holding a bottle. It read Paralyzing Powder. "What are you doing here?!" Kay-Si asked shockingly. "Isn't it obvious? I'm gonna... paralyze you." Answered Vycky-Na in a very low tone of voice. "Okay... your scaring me..." Kay-Si said. "If I am, then good. I have already paralyzed your husband and your son... you will be next." Said Vycky-Na evilly. "But why are you doing this?!" Kay-Si snapped at Vycky-Na. "I had to paralyze your son Moonwatcher, because he probably would interfere with my plans. And I know you would, so I have to paralyze you, too." Replied Vycky-Na. "But what about Steppenwolf? Why'd you paralyze him?" Asked Kay-Si. "It's so obvious, Kay-Si. I had to paralyze him, or else he would use his "chaos powers" and he would ruin my whole plan! If he's paralyzed, he cannot move. And if he cannot move, he can't use his chaos powers, now, can he?" Replied Vycky-Na. "Dont do this!" Kay-Si snapped at Vycky-Na. "Give me one good reason why I shouldn't." Said Vycky-Na. "Because, it's not right!" Kay-Si said to Vycky-Na. "So, who cares! And I'm not going to let someone like you interfere with my plans!" Shouted Vycky-Na. Kay-Si tryed to get away from Vycky-Na, but she had Kay-Si trapped in a corner. Then, Kay-Si saw the only way she could get away from her enemy. She ducked, and quickly ran, right into Vycky-Na, knocking her down, which created an escape for Kay-Si. She ran out the door, and Vycky-Na came running after her. Kay-Si then saw Steppenwolf and Moonwatcher, helplessly tied to a pole. She knew they couldn't move, so there was no way for them to get free. Their only hope now was for someone that wasn't paralyzed to untie them, and that someone was Kay-Si. She was the only one that could rescue them now. She ran over to where they were, and tryed to untie them. But the ropes were tied too tight. Then she looked over her shoulder, and saw a bottle that said "antidote" on it, laying on the picnic table. She ran over to it, but Vycky-Na noticed what she was after. She ran over to Kay-Si and pushed her down on the ground. Kay-Si exhaustingly got up, and headed for the antidote bottle once more. "Oh no you dont!" Said Vycky-Na, trying to stop Kay-Si from grabbing the antidote bottle. Vycky-Na swung her hand forward and the antidote bottle was knocked on the ground. Kay-Si ran over to where it lay, and picked it up. Vycky-Na soon noticed that Kay-Si had the antidote bottle in her hand. "Give me that!" Said Vycky-Na, rushing over in attempt to grab the bottle. But Kay-Si moved out of the way just in time and Vycky-Na fell right on the ground. Kay-Si soon noticed she only had so much time left. She ran over to her paralyzed husband and son. She gave them the antidote, and after a few minutes they could both move again. They both stuggled to untie themselves, and with most effort, they succeeded. Vycky-Na backed off as she saw the three echidnas, Kay-Si, Steppenwolf, and Moonwatcher, whom all three were her enemies, staring right at her with most hatred. "It was only a joke... can't you t-take a joke?" She asked. They all three still stared at her. She got the message and got the heck out of there! "Thank you, Kay-Si. You really saved the day." Steppenwolf told his wife. "Yeah! If it wasn't for you, we would all be gonners!" Moonwatcher said. "Well, ummm, thank you. I dont know what else to say." Kay-Si said. "We're the ones who should be thanking YOU, Kay-Si!" Steppenwolf said, and he gave his wife a kiss. "Awwwww!" Kay-Si said happily. And after that, they all went inside to get some rest. It had been a long day and they all needed it. THE END
