The whole Echidna family was getting ready for Valentine's Day. It was
only
February 1st, and they were already getting ready for the main Holiday,
and
as you know, the main Holiday in February is Valentine's Day.
But since Moonwatcher's love couldn't be there for the Holiday, he had
an
idea of how to still give her a valentine. He would make her a
valentine,
just like any other, and place it on her grave. It was the best way he
knew
how to give her a valentine.
Everybody else had someone to give a valentine to, except, of course,
for
Dylan, Lynz-Si, and Harlan. They were way too young to be thinking
about love
right now. All they were looking forward to was the big valentine party
they
would have on Valentine's Day, filled with all kinds of sweets and
goodies
that would interest them.
Moonwatcher decided that his valentine to Lyssa-Ra had to be a good
one. He
still didn't know what it would look like. It seemed that everyone had
an
idea for a valentine except for him. Kay-Si came into the room, and she
saw
her son looking down at a blank piece of red and pink construction
paper.
"You still dont know what to make Lyssa-Ra for a valentine, do you?"
Kay-Si
asked.
"No, my mind is completly blank. I can't think of even one idea for a
valentine." Moonwatcher replied.
"Well, you've been sitting there trying to figure it out for a very
long
time. Why dont you get to bed? Maybe you will have an idea in the
morning. It
is getting late anyway, and everyone else is asleep." Kay-Si told her
son.
"Okay." Moonwatcher said with a sigh, putting down the red and pink
construction paper.
Moonwatcher hoped his mother was right, he hoped that he would have an
idea
in the morning. There was only thirteen more days until Valentine's
Day, and
twelve when morning came. And he had to have an idea before Valentine's
Day!
And he wasn't off to a very good start.
In the morning, when Moonwatcher came down for breakfast, he
immediately
said, "I have an idea!"
"An idea for what?" Kay-Si asked.
"An idea for my valentine to Lyssa-Ra." Moonwatcher replied.
"Whats your----" Kay-Si began, but Moonwatcher had already rushed out
of the
room.
Kay-Si sighed.
"Sometimes I just dont get him." She said to herself.
Moonwatcher came back with the same construction paper he had been
staring at
for so long the other day. He immediately began to write something on
it, but
Kay-Si couldn't see what.
"Uh, would you mind doing that in the living room? The kitchen is the
place
for eating, not making valentines." Kay-Si told Moonwatcher.
"Oh, sorry mom!" Said Moonwatcher, then he grabbed his supplies for
making a
valentine, and ran into the living room.
Kay-Si shook her head at him and went back to what she was doing. In
about an
hour, Moonwatcher came into the kitchen, where his mom was doing the
dishes,
and told her that his valentine was finished.
"It took you an hour to finish your valentine?" Kay-Si asked.
"Yes, it had to be just right." Moonwatcher explained.
"Okay. Can I see?" Kay-Si asked.
"Yeah." Moonwatcher said, and he took his valentine to Lyssa-Ra out
from
behind his back.
It looked like a card, and on the front was a decorated heart with pink
and
white glitter, and on the heart, written in pink glue(hmmmm, I wonder
how he
got it pink?:P) was "TO LYSSA-RA" in really big bold letters. In the
corner
of the valentine were the words "I will love you every moment of my
life".
"It's very pretty." Kay-Si complemented.
"Thanks, but you haven't seen all if it yet." Said Moonwatcher, and he
opened
up the valentine.
Inside of the valentine was a poem, and there was a pink glittered
border
around it.
"That's very lovely, Moonwatcher." Kay-Si told her son.
"Well I wanted to do something special." Moonwatcher explained.
"That is special alright." Kay-Si said.
"Yeah, and even though Lyssa-Ra probably never will really see it, I
made it
anyway... it makes me feel better, like she's still here." Moonwatcher
told
his mother.
"Oh but she is still here, hon. She is in your heart, and that's where
she'll
always be. She'll never leave you. She never really did." Kay-Si
explained.
"Maybe." Moonwatcher said.
"She is. If you didn't love her, she wouldn't be in your heart. And
then she
would've left you. But she didn't leave you, because you love her. She
is in
your heart. Even though you can't see her, hear her, or talk to her
anymore,
she is still with you. And will always be." Kay-Si said to Moonwatcher.
"Thanks. I feel a little bit better." Moonwatcher said.
"Okay, now why dont you have something to eat? You didn't eat breakfast
and
it's already nearing lunchtime." Kay-Si said, changing the subject.
"Okay." Moonwatcher agreed.
As days went by, it got closer and closer to Valentine's Day.
Moonwatcher was
anxious for it to come, but nervous as well. The last time he had been
to the
cemetery was when Lyssa-Ra first died, and he was going to feel very
uncomfortable going there again. All he wanted to do was drop off the
valentine then leave, for he was afraid he would start grieving over
Lyssa-Ra's death again. From that moment, a long time ago, when
Lyssa-Ra
first died, and Moonwatcher seen her in her coffin, Moonwatcher hated
cemeteries. He hated them so much. They just reminded him of that awful
day
he saw Lyssa-Ra laying in her coffin, so lifeless. That was the most
horrible
thing he ever had to deal with, was his wife's death.
But now it was February 9th, and only five more days until he would
visit
that awful cemetery again. Life was tough, he knew. But right now he
didn't
want to think about life and death. He wanted to think about how happy
Lyssa-Ra now probably was, because she's probably in a much better
place,
Moonwatcher knew.
And Moonwatcher also knew that someday he would join her. But right
now, he
had to think of the happy times he shared with her. Grieving over
Lyssa-Ra's
death was becoming a rerun for him, and he didn't want to think about
death.
He didn't even want to utter that terrible word.
Everyone else was happy that Valentine's Day was coming. They were
making
valentines for their loved ones, or just snacking on valentine goodies.
The
whole house was soon decorated with hearts, cupids, and anything else
involving the holiday Valentine's Day, and who had the decorations and
decorated the house with them was none other than Kay-Si Echidna.
"Please, mom! No more decorations. Everywhere I go I see hearts."
Moonwatcher
said.
"I know, honey, but everyone else is excited about the holiday and even
though your love, is er, um... deceased, it's no reason you can't be
happy
too." Said Kay-Si.
"That's easy for you to say! Who you love isn't dead." Moonwatcher
said.
"Remember last Christmas? I thought you said you was going to remember
Lyssa-Ra by the happy times, remember? It's what she would want. It's
what we
would all want for you. It has already been over a year since
Lyssa-Ra's
death. Dont you think it's time you have gone on with your life? I
mean, yes,
there's going to be times when you miss her, but just try to be happy
once in
awhile, okay?" Kay-Si said to Moonwatcher.
"Yeah, I guess your right. But everytime a holiday that involves family
and
love comes up, I start to think about her." Moonwatcher explained.
"I know, honey. But holidays are suppose to make you happy, not sad.
Just
try to be excited about the holiday, please try." Kay-Si said.
Moonwatcher nodded his head, and slowly walked back into his room.
Kay-Si
only hoped that Moonwatcher would be happy again. Everytime a holiday
came
up, he'd get sad because he'd think of Lyssa-Ra. She just hoped that he
would
start to get excited about the holiday like everyone else was. It just
wasn't
normal for Moonwatcher to be sad when a holiday was near.
And the days quickly passed. Soon Valentine's Day was there.
Moonwatcher woke
up, and sighed, knowing that this day was the day he would be going to
that
awful cemetery. He got out of bed and found his valentine to Lyssa-Ra.
He
slowly walked into the living room;he was not anxious to get to the
cemetery.
"Oh good, your up." Kay-Si said, looking up from her book that she was
reading(as always:P).
"Yeah, I'm ready to go to the cemetery." Moonwatcher lied.
"Okay, but would you wait until everybody else is up first? And atleast
get
something to eat." Kay-Si told Moonwatcher.
"Okay. What, father is still in bed?" Moonwatcher asked.
"Of course. You know he takes the day off on holidays." Kay-Si told her
confused son.
"Oh, yeah. I forgot. Today really doesn't seem like a holiday to me.
More
like a nightmare." Moonwatcher said.
"Oh dont be silly, Moonwatcher. Of course it's a holiday." Kay-Si said.
"Well it sure doesn't feel like one." Said Moonwatcher.
Moonwatcher ate his breakfast and headed outside, sitting down on the
front
porch, waiting until everybody else was ready to go to that horrible
cemetery.
And about ten minutes later, everyone else came out. Moonwatcher sighed
and
got up, not very excited at all about the holiday.
When they got there, Moonwatcher walked into that cemetery that he
dreaded
going to again. He found Lyssa-Ra's grave, and very slowly got out his
valentine, and sat it gently on the grave. He just stayed there for
awhile,
staring into space, then finally, got up and went to go back home.
But while he was doing so, he heard a noise. He turned around and
looked back
at the grave of Lyssa-Ra. Then he noticed that the valentine was gone.
How did that happen?! He wondered.
And then he figured that maybe he shouldn't know how it happened. Maybe
it
was just better that way;maybe some things would remain a mystery
forever.
He raced home and then his family had their valentines party and
exchanged
valentines. He tryed to have a good time for once.
Everybody else seemed to have a great time. So he tryed to do the same.
And
it actually made him feel better for once. He was actually enjoying
himself.
And he was happy about it. It had been a long time since he enjoyed
himself
or anything like that.
Everybody got a valentine. No one was left out. Moonwatcher got his own
valentine, thinking about the happy times him and Lyssa-Ra shared. That
seemed like Lyssa-Ra's valentine to Moonwatcher.
Valentine's Day passed quicker than Moonwatcher had anticipated. And he
went
to bed early that night, a lot was on his mind. He was hoping that in
the
morning he'd feel a bit better and more rested than the night before.
He was
very exhausted.
He climbed into bed and shut his eyes. He was soon fast asleep.
THE END
I hope you liked that short Valentine's Day fanfic. I will try to make
more
Holiday fanfics in the future if you like them. If not, I will just
make
regular fanfics. Please, let me know! It would be most helpful.
