Surprise! By:SnowPuppy Kay-Si looked at Steppenwolf. "Why do we have to wait?" She asked. "Because you have to." Replied Steppenwolf. "I dont think that's a very good reason." Said Kay-Si. When they were finished there they went back to their room. Kay-Si was laying on the bottom bunk(she didn't want to lay on the top one;she was afraid she would fall off!) and just staring up at the bottom of the top bunk. Steppenwolf looked down at her. "It's already 10:00PM, and your not asleep yet?" He asked her. "I'm just thinking. No big deal." She replied. "Hey, when are both of you going to get to sleep? I'm very tired." Said Moonwatcher sleepily. "It's not my fault." Said Steppenwolf, looking down at Kay-Si. "Okay, okay! I'll go to sleep." Kay-Si said, turning over. "Good." Said Moonwatcher. When it was morning, they were all happy to know that they were there. Kay-Si was excited as she saw where they would be spending their vacation. It was Astonished Islands. The same place Kay-Si and Steppenwolf had gone to a long time ago(read the story "Now They Are a Family" for more information). "What is this place?" Asked Moonwatcher. "This is where me and your mother went to along time ago, for a vacation. Now we are going to have the same vacation, except the only difference is we got you with us and I've heard that this place has improved since last time." Replied Steppenwolf. "But I dont remember you two going on vacation to this place before. I dont even remember you going on vacation at all." Said Moonwatcher confusingly. "That's because you were only a baby when we went. But sence your old enough now, we can take you on vacation." Replied Kay-Si. "Oh. I see now." Said Moonwatcher. "This place HAS changed since the last time we were here." Said Kay-Si, noticing the changes. "Yep, it has." Said Steppenwolf. Finally, they had thereselves a hotel room. But the problem was, they all had a difficult time choosing beds. Espicially Moonwatcher. "I want this one! No.. this one! No, I want that one!" Said Moonwatcher, trying to make up his mind. "Just hurry up!" Said Kay-Si, getting impatient. "Okay, I want this one." Said Moonwatcher, finally making a choice. "Okay, good." Said Kay-Si. "No, wait--!" Started Moonwatcher. "Moonwatcher!" Said Kay-Si. "Okay, okay." Said Moonwatcher. Later on in the day, Moonwatcher was on his bed, reading a book. Kay-Si was doing the same. That's when Moonwatcher looked up and noticed someone was missing. "Mother, where's father?" Moonwatcher asked, noticing his dad was missing. Kay-Si looked up from her book. "How should I know? As I've told you before, he has ideas of his own. And he wont tell anybody what he's been up to 'til the last minute." Replied Kay-Si. "Just wondering. I thought you might've known, because your his wife." Moonwatcher said. "Yes I am his wife, but he doesn't tell me alot of things, because he always wants it to be a surprise. I'm as clueless as you. And right now, I really dont care where he is." Said Kay-Si. And right then, Steppenwolf came into the room. Both Kay-Si and Moonwatcher looked at him with a "where-in-the-world-have-you-been" kind of look. "What have you been up to?" Kay-Si asked. "I just got a few things at that souvenirs shop." Steppenwolf replied. "Really? What?" Moonwatcher wanted to know. "You'll find out later." Said Steppenwolf. "Your just full of surprises, aren't ya?" Said Kay-Si. "Well, from all the surprises here, I'd say yes, your right." Said Steppenwolf. "No argument on that." Said Moonwatcher. Kay-Si sighed and went back to reading. "Hey, why dont we go down to the beach so it will take your minds off the surprises?" Suggested Steppenwolf. Kay-Si and Moonwatcher both agreed to that. And when Moonwatcher was down at the beach, he couldn't believe who he saw! It was Molly-Ca. He went up to her. "What are you doing here?" He asked her. "Doing the same thing you are. I'm having a vacation." Replied Molly-Ca. "Well I never would imagined you would be here." Said Moonwatcher. "What a coincidence that both our families took us to the same place." Said Molly-Ca happily. "Yeah, well, actually my father took us here. My mother was just as surprised as to where we were going as I was." Said Moonwatcher. "Oh, yeah. Well thats the thing with fathers. They like to surprise their family. Well, I'll be right back, 'kay?" Said Molly-Ca, running off. "Okay!" Moonwatcher shouted to her. "Moonwatcher! Get over here!" Shouted Kay-Si. "Coming, mother!" Moonwatcher shouted to his mother. "What were you doing over there?" Kay-Si asked her son. "I was talking to Molly-Ca." Replied Moonwatcher. "I dont see anybody." Said Kay-Si. "That's because she went to go do something." Replied Moonwatcher. "Oh, I see. Do what?" Said Kay-Si. "She didn't tell me." Said Moonwatcher. "Kind-of like your father and his surprises." Said Kay-Si, looking at Steppenwolf. "Yeah, well, I'm gonna go wait for Molly-Ca, can I?" Asked Moonwatcher. "Okay, but be careful." Replied Kay-Si. "I will. Dont worry about me." Said Moonwatcher. "Okay, but dont you think it's natural for a mother to be worried about her son?" Asked Kay-Si. "I guess, but it's not like I'm going to get kidnapped or anything." Said Moonwatcher. "Okay, but stay with Molly-Ca's family. Dont go wandering off." Said Kay-Si. "I wont." Said Moonwatcher. "Dont worry, Kay-Si. He'll be alright." Said Steppenwolf. "I hope your right." Said Kay-Si. Steppenwolf laid his head on Kay-Si's and reassured her that everything would be okay, as long as Moonwatcher stayed with Molly-Ca's family. When Molly-Ca finally came back out, Moonwatcher noticed that she was wearing a bathing suit. "I'm going swimming, as if you didn't notice." Said Molly-Ca happily. "Yes, I kind-of figured that out." Said Moonwatcher. "Yeah, it's not too hard to figure out." Said Molly-Ca with a giggle. "Yeah, I know that." Said Moonwatcher. "Hey, are you gonna go swimmin' today? It's a very beautiful day for swimming!" Said Molly-Ca happily. "Maybe later." Replied Moonwatcher. "Well, okay." Said Molly-Ca, shrugging. Molly-Ca then went to go swimming. Then Zoey-Ca ran up to the waves of the water. "Zoey, dont go way out there, now. Your too young to be going that far out." Said Molly-Ca's and Zoey-Ca's mother, Jessie-Ca. "Dont worry about me, mom! I'm eight years old!" Said Zoey-Ca. "Yes but please be careful!" Shouted Jessie-Ca. It seems like everyone's mother is the same. My mother tells me to be careful, too. All the time. Thought Moonwatcher. Zoey-Ca then went to play in the gentle waves, but she wished she could've played in the bigger waves like her sister. "Moonwatcher!" Kay-Si shouted to him. "What is it now?" Moonwatcher asked his mother. "Your father is ready to show us his "surprise"." Said Kay-Si. "Oh, okay." Said Moonwatcher. Steppenwolf pulled out for Moonwatcher a pair of sandals that said Astonished Islands on them, which by now you probably know that that's the name of the beach they're at. "That's something that I cant figure out, why this beach is called Astonished Islands." Said Kay-Si. "I think I know why it's called that!" Said Moonwatcher. "Why?" Asked Kay-Si. "Because all the people that come here are astonished about all the neat souvenirs." Replied Moonwatcher. "Could be." Said Kay-Si. "But there's a souvenir in here for you, too, Kay-Si." Said Steppenwolf, reaching his hand into the bag. He pulled out a jewelry box with the words Astonished Islands on it(note:All the souvenirs on this beach have the words Astonished Islands written on them somewhere!). He handed it to Kay-Si. She was astonished(maybe Moonwatcher was right about why this beach is called Astonished Islands!) and took the little box from Steppenwolf's hand. Inside was a little chain necklace with a heart on it that said "I Love You". (I wonder what she does with all these necklaces? LOL!:P) "Thank you, it's beautiful." Said Kay-Si happily. "Your welcome. Hey, as long as we're all in a good mood why dont we go and get some ice cream? It's a pretty hot day anyway." Suggested Steppenwolf. Kay-Si and Moonwatcher agreed to that idea and they all got some ice cream. Moonwatcher got chocolate, Kay-Si got strawberry, and Steppenwolf got vanilla. "I love this ice cream!" Said Moonwatcher happily. "Yes but try to get some in your mouth. This reminds me of long ago when you were a baby, you got chocolate cake everywhere but your mouth!" Said Kay-Si with a laugh. "Yeah, well, everyone gets messy sometimes!" Said Moonwatcher. "Yeah, you got that right. I got messy before. Actually, it wasn't too long ago, now that I think about it." Said Kay-Si with a giggle. "Really? How'd you get messy?" Asked Moonwatcher. "Dont you remember? You were there." Said Kay-Si. "Oh, yeah! I remember now! It was when dad put that cake in your face on your birthday! Now THAT was funny!" Said Moonwatcher happily. "Yeah, so dont be ashamed if you get messy, everyone does sometimes." Said Kay-Si. "Who's ashamed? Atleast my face isn't so hot!" Joked Moonwatcher. They all laughed, but then Kay-Si told Moonwatcher that as soon as he was finished with his ice cream, he should go wash up. Moonwatcher agreed;the ice cream WAS pretty sticky! So he washed up and then went back outside with his family. They had a great day from then on. But soon day quickly turned into night. "Well, we should be getting back to the hotel now." Said Steppenwolf. "Yeah, it's getting pretty dark." Agreed Kay-Si. So they all went back to the hotel. But they didn't go to sleep right away. Kay-Si was reading a book(who couldn't figure that out!:P), Moonwatcher was writing in his Family Memories book, and Steppenwolf was copying something down on a piece of paper. It was only 7:25PM. But at around 8:45PM, Moonwatcher started to get yawny. Thats when they all decided to go to bed. When Moonwatcher awoke, he looked around the room. His mother was still asleep, and his father was no where to be seen. He looked at the clock, it was 7:15AM. He jumped out of bed and gently shook his mother awake. "Mother, where's father?" He asked her. "I dont know. I was asleep when he left." Said Kay-Si. "Oh, yeah I figured you might've been." Said Moonwatcher. "Yeah, I was." Said Kay-Si. "Oh, well sorry for waking you up. Just checking." Said Moonwatcher. "Oh, it's okay. As long as I'm up I might as well just stay up." Said Kay-Si. "Okay." Said Moonwatcher, shrugging. So they both got up to start the day. Moonwatcher then decided to ask his parents if they could go down on the beach again. They've been cooped up in the hotel ever since last night. "No sweety, not right now, I'm sorry. Maybe later. But we will go out later on today, because we are leaving for home in a few days." Said Kay-Si. "Okay, I guess I'll wait." Said Moonwatcher. When they went back out on the beach, it was pretty much the same thing. But their vacation came to an end quickly, soon it was time for them to be heading back home. And yes, they had to get back on that "wobbly" boat. They all couldn't wait to get home, for it had been an exhuasting week. Moonwatcher looked out the window. "Mom, when are we going to be home?" He asked his mother. "I dont know, sweety. And why are you so anxious to get home all of a sudden?" Kay-Si asked. "Because... I'm exhausted from all the excitement." Moonwatcher replied. "Yeah, I think we all are." Steppenwolf agreed. "Can we go out and look at the waves?" Moonwatcher asked. "Well, okay but I dont want anyone falling off the boat this time." Said Steppenwolf, looking at Kay-Si. So they all went out to look at the waves, as Moonwatcher suggested. "Wow, I bet that water is really deep!" Moonwatcher exclaimed. "You dont know the half of it. Your mother fell all the way to the bottom before." Said Steppenwolf. "Really? Why'd she do that?" Asked Moonwatcher. "I didn't do it on purpose, honey. It was just a really bad storm and I fell off the boat." Said Kay-Si. "Oh. Well, why were you out here when it was storming, anyway?" Asked Moonwatcher. "Well, it wasn't storming at first. It just happened." Replied Kay-Si. "Oh." Said Moonwatcher. Then the waves started to get really splashy and it started to get dark out. They all decided that they should go back in before another storm could hit;it could happen, you know. So they all went back in. Kay-Si went to bed early because the boat's wobbliness was really getting to her(as usual). When they were finally home, Kay-Si was happy. She didn't have to take that wobbliness anymore. And she was glad to see her son Dylan again, too. She thanked her sister for babysitting. And then, it was back to the usual, once again. Kay-Si taking care of the baby, Steppenwolf and Moonwatcher out for guard duty. They did have a great vacation, but Kay-Si was happy to be home. Everything was back to normal, and that vacation that they had, she would never forget. THE END
