Moonwatcher and Lyssa-Ra By:SnowPuppy Moonwatcher still couldn't believe what he heard Molly-Ca telling him... that she was only using him. He couldn't believe it! He still couldn't. All those times... all those times he thought that she really loved him. He wrote in his "Family Memories" book, now what he would believe was his journal, and tears stained the pages. This is what he so sadly wrote: Dear Journal(I'm changing the name again), Today something happened that I thought never would. I got a call from Molly-Ca. But it wasn't one of the regular calls that you get from your date. She told me that... that she was only using me;because I'm the future guardian. I didn't believe it at first, but now I do. Why did she have to do this to me...? Why? She told me to pick Lyssa-Ra, the teenage echidna that I have recently met. I will have to talk to Lyssa-Ra about this, and see if she does want to go on a date... but still, I miss Molly-Ca. Until next time, Moonwatcher He didn't want to re-read his new entry this time;it would hurt him even more to read those so-painful words one more time. He shut his journal, and placed it on his desk. He just couldn't see why Molly-Ca would do this to him;lie to him, and hurt him. He tryed not to think about it, but it somehow found it's way back into Moonwatcher's thoughts. He decided just to call Lyssa-Ra, and see if she really did want to go on a date, for Lyssa-Ra had left Moonwatcher her phone number. Maybe it would actually make him feel better;maybe Lyssa-Ra would understand, he hoped. (For more information on this "Lyssa-Ra", check out the fanfic "Vacation, Wish it Would Never End".) So he called her, for the very first time. "H-hello?" He said through the phone. "Hello, who is this?" Said a voice. "Moonwatcher. I wish to speak with Lyssa-Ra, please." Said Moonwatcher, his voice still a little shaky. "This is Courtnee-Ra, Lyssa-Ra's mother. Hold on, please." Said Courtnee-Ra. Moonwatcher waited. Finally, he heard the voice of Lyssa-Ra. "Hi there." She said. "Hi, Lyssa-Ra?" Moonwatcher asked. "Yes, this is her. What do you want?" Asked Lyssa-Ra. "Well, earlier today, Molly-Ca called and she... dumped me." Began Moonwatcher. "Oh, I'm so sorry! Why'd she do that?" Asked Lyssa-Ra, shocked. "Because... she told me she was, only using me. That she never really loved me... and it would be better off if we never seen each other again. It just tore me apart;and I decided to call you, to ask you something." Replied Moonwatcher. "And what is that?" Lyssa-Ra asked. "Well, Molly-Ca told me that I should just pick you, because it would be better off for me." Replied Moonwatcher. "And...?" Asked Lyssa-Ra. "And, so, I'm deciding to take her advice. Will you... go out with me?" Asked Moonwatcher nervously. "Well... um... yes... if you think it's whats best. Sure, I will!" Answered Lyssa-Ra, half shocked and half excited. "Thanks! Why dont we... go to the highest hill on the floating island, at 7:00PM? That was mine and Molly-Ca's official first date. Though, it wasn't really our first date... but it was our first official one. So... how about it?" Asked Moonwatcher. "Sure! Sounds nice. When?" Lyssa-Ra wanted to know. "Well... tonight, but if your busy, then how 'bout Saturday?"Asked Moonwatcher. "Oh, I'd love to tonight! I dont have any plans. So, thats great. And my mother says it's okay. See you then, then." Replied Lyssa-Ra. "Okay! Umm... bye!" Said Moonwatcher. "Goodbye!" Said Lyssa-Ra. Moonwatcher sat down the phone, and started to think how it would be going out with someone other than Molly-Ca. Molly-Ca was the only person he had ever went out with in his whole life, and he didn't know how it would feel going out with someone else. He was happy that his parents let him go out with Lyssa-Ra instead of Molly-Ca, and he thanked them for it. When it was time for their date to begin, Moonwatcher got a little nervous. He still wasn't too sure about going out with someone else. But he knew it was for the best, so he tryed to stay calm. He went to the highest hill on the floating island, but Lyssa-Ra wasn't there yet. He figured that she was still getting ready, and decided to wait for her. Finally, she showed up. Moonwatcher was happy that she didn't have any second thoughts about their date. "Hey there!" She said, coming up to him. "Hey, Lyssy. How are ya?" Moonwatcher asked. "Great. Look, I'm sorry about... what happened." Lyssa-Ra told Moonwatcher. Moonwatcher was hoping that she wouldn't mention it, but since she did, he had to give her a reply. "It's okay, Lyssa-Ra. It's not your fault." Said Moonwatcher. "Yes it is... if I hadn't stopped by Molly-Ca's to see you, you never would have been in such pain... and Molly-Ca never would've dumped you." Said Lyssa-Ra. "That's what I want to thank you for." Said Moonwatcher. "Thank me...? I dont understand." Said Lyssa-Ra confusingly. "Well, if it wasn't for you I would have been in even more pain. It's a good thing that Molly-Ca dumped me now... because if she didn't, she would still be lying to me, and then it would probably lead to marriage, and then if she ever did tell me, we would probably end up getting a divorce... its a good thing you did what you did before any of that ever happened." Explained Moonwatcher. "Oh, well, I'm still sorry for the pain that it caused you." Said Lyssa-Ra. "I would have gotten hurt either way anyway, Lyssy. It's just better off to get it over with now... and it finally is. But I still wish that Molly-Ca never would have done this... I still question myself about it;about why Molly-Ca would do such a thing. And now... I know what my mother's quote meant." Said Moonwatcher sobbingly. "What quote?" Asked Lyssa-Ra. "Well, when I was a bit younger, my mother told me about this quote she made up, and how it was true." Explained Moonwatcher. "What's the quote?" Lyssa-Ra asked. "'You think you know someone, but you dont really know them until your heart does.' And now I know what it means... and it's so true." Said Moonwatcher. "Oh, Moonwatcher, I really am sorry!" Said Lyssa-Ra. "That's okay, Lyssy. What's done is done, and once it's done it cannot be undone. So... can we please talk about something else now?" Asked Moonwatcher. "Sure, Moonwatcher. What do you want to talk about?" Asked Lyssa-Ra. "Well... how about we do what people on dates do...?" Asked Moonwatcher. "Go ahead." Said Lyssa-Ra. So they did, they kissed. When they thought that could never happen, it did. And for the rest of their date, they talked about things, and had a few snacks that Moonwatcher just happened to bring(which I bet you can guess what those snacks were!), and soon it began to get late. So they both headed home, so they wouldn't worry their families. Moonwatcher climbed in bed, and he had a terrible dream that night. It was an awful dream, about Molly-Ca. He woke up with a start. He just couldn't get what happened off of his mind. It was haunting him. He tryed his best to not let that terrible thought enter his mind, but each time, the terrible thought won the battle. He just couldn't help it! He couldn't get this whole situation off his mind. But as each day went by, Moonwatcher and Lyssa-Ra started to go on more and more dates. Soon, Moonwatcher began to forget about what happened between him and Molly-Ca so long ago. And soon, Moonwatcher had his seventeenth birthday. And what he couldn't wait for was when he turned eighteen;when he was dating Molly-Ca he told her that he'd propose to her once he turned eighteen, but since Molly-Ca was no longer his girlfriend, he decided he was going to ask Lyssa-Ra to marry him, once he turned eighteen. And now, he had only one more year to wait! He couldn't believe how fast time was going by. He was turning into a grownup right before his eyes! He just couldn't believe it. It was all too unbelievable. But he still didn't know if he was ready for that yet. He was relieved that there was still a year left of his childhood. He smiled and blew out the seventeen candles on his birthday cake. "What'd you wish for?" Lyssa-Ra asked him. "If I tell you, it wont come true!" Said Moonwatcher. "Oh, yeah! I forgot." Said Lyssa-Ra. After that they all had cake, and Moonwatcher had something to ask Lyssa-Ra. "What is it?" Lyssa-Ra asked him. "I was wondering if you got me a birthday present." Replied Moonwatcher. "Oh, Moonwatcher, how rude of you to ask for a birthday present! But since you asked, I'll give it to you." Said Lyssa-Ra, and she kissed Moonwatcher. "Thanks, Lyssy! That was the best birthday present I've had yet!" Said Moonwatcher happily. "I'm glad you like it." Said Lyssa-Ra. Moonwatcher still couldn't believe how him and Lyssa-Ra had turned out to be boyfriend and girlfriend, because of the weird way they met;in the hospital.(For more information on that, check out the last fanfic, "Vacation, Wish it Would Never End".) But now he and Lyssa-Ra were just as happy as ever, and have put the awful things that happened before behind them. If they were ever going to get married, they needed to have happy memories, not sad ones. And at the end of Moonwatcher's birthday party, and when everyone went home, Moonwatcher was exhuasted, and decided to go to bed early. When he awoke, he saw someone staring down at him. It was his mother. "Mom, what are you doing?" He asked her. "Just checking to see if your awake yet, and by the looks of things you are." Replied Kay-Si. "Oh. Well you didn't have to stare at me until I woke up." Said Moonwatcher. "I wasn't. I just came in here a few seconds ago." Said Kay-Si. "Oh." Said Moonwatcher. "Well get up, sweety." Said Kay-Si to Moonwatcher. "Okay, okay." Said Moonwatcher, getting out of bed. Moonwatcher then had his breakfast and went to help his dad with guard duty, as usual. Kay-Si was in the kitchen feeding Dylan from a milk bottle when she heard a knock at the door. She opened the door and there stood her cousin, Susan-Na. "Susan! Oh yeah, I forgot... you come over once every two months." Said Kay-Si. "Thats right. And the time has come for me to pay you a visit again. I haven't seen you in like four months because you were on that vacation two months ago." Said Susan. "Yeah... well it's good to see you again. Come on in." Said Kay-Si, greeting her cousin in. "Thanks." Replied Susan, entering the living room. "So... anything new?" Asked Kay-Si. "Not much really. What about you?" Replied Susan. "Not a lot... Moonwatcher's seventeenth birthday was yesterday." Replied Kay-Si. "Oh, was it? He's certainly growing up fast, isn't he?" Said Susan to her cousin. "Yeah... and when the time comes for him to start his own family I'm gonna miss him." Said Kay-Si sadly. "Well, Kay-Si, dont worry about that. I'm sure he'll come visit you, and besides, he's still got a whole year yet." Said Susan. "I know. Everyone grows up, I know that... but I'll still miss him, even if he comes over here every day." Said Kay-Si. "Oh... you mean you'll miss him as a kid?" Asked Susan. "Yeah... but he's growing up, and I have accepted that." Said Kay-Si. "Well, good... enough of these mushy stories, lets talk about somethin' else." Said Susan. And then, they heard the door. Moonwatcher came into the room followed by his dad. "Hi great-cuz Susan! Long time no see!" Said Moonwatcher to Susan. "Good to see you again, Moonwatcher," Replied Susan. "By the way, happy belated birthday." "Thanks!" Said Moonwatcher. "So, how about we all go in the kitchen and have some hot chocolate? It is a very cold day." Suggested Kay-Si. Everyone agreed to Kay-Si's idea, so they all went into the kitchen and had hot chocolate. When they were done, Moonwatcher grabbed a few oranges(I guess Kay-Si still hasn't changed the fruit like she said she would back in the fanfic "The Days of Their Lives". Heh, heh.:P) and then him and Steppenwolf went back outside for guard duty. Kay-Si sighed as she continued on throughout the day, but she had help since Susan was there. "Can't we do something else? I'm the guest!" Complained Susan. "You may be the guest but it doesn't hurt to work once in awhile, Susan. Stop whining like a five-year-old." Said Kay-Si to her cousin. "I'm not whining." Said Susan. "Yeah, now your not." Said Kay-Si. After that, Kay-Si and Susan ended up in a big argument(which, if you didn't know by now, Susan and Kay-Si have a lot of disagreements!) but it was no big deal since stuff like that usually happens. And soon, both Kay-Si and Susan ended up getting tired and they both took a rest. When Steppenwolf and Moonwatcher came back in they looked at the two tired echidnas that were trying to rest. "Exhuasting day, huh?" Steppenwolf asked them. "Yeah." Both of them replied at once. "Well I'm sure you both will feel better after a rest." Said Steppenwolf. "Thats what we've been trying to do!" Said Susan exhaustingly. Then the phone rang. Kay-Si reached her hand over and picked it up. "Hello?" She said. "May I speak to Moonwatcher? This is Lyssa-Ra." Said Lyssa-Ra. "Okay, hold on," Said Kay-Si. "Moonwatcher, honey, Lyssa-Ra is on the phone." Moonwatcher quickly took the phone out of his mother's hand. "Hello?" He said. "Hi, Moonwatcher. Lyssa-Ra here." Said Lyssa-Ra. "Yeah, I know that," Moonwatcher said, "what do you want?" "Do you have a computer?" Asked Lyssa-Ra. "I was just wondering, because I got one today." "Yeah... I got a computer, at... oops, um, yes I got a computer." Said Moonwatcher, careful not to tell Lyssa-Ra where the computer WAS, and he almost told her, but luckily he caught himself. "Cool! I was just wondering, because we could like talk to each other on the computer." Said Lyssa-Ra. "Thats a great idea!" Said Moonwatcher. And so, Lyssa-Ra gave Moonwatcher her e-mail, and Moonwatcher began to e-mail his friend. He was talking to her so much on the computer, that he forgot what he was actually supposed to be doing. And his father noticed this, and decided to have a talk with him about it. "What is it that you want to talk to me about, father?" Asked Moonwatcher, throwing a tennis ball up in the air and then catching it. "I have noticed that you've been talking to your friend a lot more now." Said Steppenwolf, grabbing the tennis ball in midair before it could land in Moonwatcher's hand. "Yeah, we've become really good friends." Said Moonwatcher. "Yes, but that doesn't mean you have to talk to her all the time." Said Steppenwolf. "What are ya talking about?" Asked Moonwatcher. "Well I've noticed that you've been talking to her more than doing what your suppose to be doing." Explained Steppenwolf. "I have?" Asked Moonwatcher. "Yes, you have." Replied Steppenwolf. "Gee, I'm sorry. I will try not to talk to her so much next time." Said Moonwatcher. "Good." Said Steppenwolf, throwing the tennis ball back to Moonwatcher. And so, this began to work out... for awhile. Soon, Moonwatcher had forgotten all about what his father had told him, and began to go back to what he was doing before, talking to Lyssa-Ra more than anything else. Steppenwolf, again, noticed this. He decided that he was going to have to talk with his son about this, again, one last time. "Moonwatcher?" Began Steppenwolf. "Yes, father?" Moonwathcer replied. "Remember what I told you?" Asked Steppenwolf. "Told me what?" Asked Moonwatcher curiously. "About talking to Lyssa-Ra on the computer. You know, you can talk to her, but not every second. Take some time to do what you suppose to be doing in the first place." Explained Steppenwolf. "Oh, have I done that again? I'm really very sorry. I guess I just... forgot. But I wont this time, I promise. I will try to do what I'm suppose to." Promised Moonwatcher. "Well, I hope so." Said Steppenwolf, walking out of the room. Moonwatcher then called up Lyssa-Ra and told her that he wouldn't be able to talk to her as much. Lyssa-Ra understood, and told him it was alright, they could still talk to each other, atleast. Moonwatcher got out his journal, and carefully wrote his entry for the day: Dear journal, I did it again;I can't believe I did it again! I talked to Lyssa-Ra on the computer more than I was suppose to... I'm so disappointed in myself! How could I have let this happen? I've let my father down, and I'm so sorry for doing so. But now, I'm going to try to focus more on what I'm suppose to be focusing on;the island's protection and the security of the emerald. After all, someday I'll have to take my father's place. Well, I guess I will go to bed now;I am very tired. Until next time, Moonwatcher He then very carefully re-read it with his pencil, and then sat the journal back on his desk, and got in bed. THE END To be continued in the next fanfic, "Moonwatcher's Last Year".
