Forever and Ever
By:SnowPuppy
Kay-Si was gently rocking her newborn baby, Lynz-Si, when she heard the
door.
Her husband and son were back in, from guard duty.
Moonwatcher had actually sold his house that he bought not too long
ago. He
decided to move back in with his parents. His house reminded him too
much of
Lyssa-Ra. He still deeply and dearly missed her. And he would never
stop
missing her. He was also sad that his son Harlan would never know his
mother.
But he was glad that Harlan would know his grandmother, because Kay-Si
didn't
die while giving birth to Lynz-Si... although, it did take a lot of her
strength.
Kay-Si soon noticed that her son Moonwatcher was dripping wet.
"Did it rain?" She asked him.
"No, you see, we were walking by the stream to get a drink and I
accidently
fell in." Moonwatcher explained.
"Oh, I see." Kay-Si said.
"Yeah." Moonwatcher said.
"But I would still feel better if---" Kay-Si began.
"Yeah, I know. I'll dry off." Moonwatcher said.
"Waitaminute," Kay-Si told him, "there's something I wanna know first."
"What is it, mother?" Moonwatcher asked her.
"How'd you fall in the stream?" Kay-Si asked her son.
"That's kind-of difficult to explain." Moonwatcher told his mom.
"Then explain it the best way you know how." Kay-Si said.
"Well, we were walking over to the stream and I accidently tripped over
a
rock and fell in." Moonwatcher explained.
"Oh... and THATS difficult to explain?" Kay-Si asked.
Moonwatcher shrugged.
Kay-Si rolled her eyes at him and went back to cradling Lynz-Si.
"Well you just go dry off while I get a bottle for Lynz-Si." Kay-Si
told
Moonwatcher.
Moonwatcher nodded but Steppenwolf looked at his wife worriedly.
"What is it?" She asked, as she noticed him looking at her like that.
"Well, I think I should get the bottle for Lynz-Si." Steppenwolf told
his
wife.
"Why? I'm not gonna die getting Lynz-Si a bottle." Kay-Si said with a
sigh.
"Yes but your weak, Kay-Si. You need your rest. Giving birth to Lynz-Si
has
already taken most of your strength." Steppenwolf told Kay-Si.
"Okay, okay." Kay-Si agreed, knowing her husband, she didn't want to
argue
with him.
While Kay-Si was feeding Lynz-Si from the milk bottle, Steppenwolf and
Moonwatcher were going to go back out. But before they did, Kay-Si had
something to tell them.
"No falling in any streams this time, okay?" She told them.
"Okay, mom." Moonwatcher agreed.
When they were gone, Kay-Si looked at her newborn baby happily. When
Lynz-Si
was finished with the milk, she started to go to sleep. Kay-Si
carefully got
up and put Lynz-Si back in her crib.
"Kay-Si?" Asked Susan, coming into the room.
"Oh, Susan! I forgot you were still here." Kay-Si said.
"Yeah. I go back home in a couple of days, though," Susan said. "So,
how are
you doing?"
"Fine." Kay-Si answered.
"You look exhausted, Kay-Si," Susan told her, "maybe you should get
some
rest."
"That's what Steppenwolf has been telling me to do all day." Kay-Si
told
Susan.
"Well, he's right. You DO look tired." Susan told her cousin.
"Well---" Kay-Si began, but the sound of the doorbell cut her off.
Kay-Si sighed. "Hold on while I get that."
Kay-Si walked over to the door and carefully opened it. There stood a
male
echidna, who looked much like Felix, except he had a different outfit
on.
"Felix...?" Kay-Si asked.
"No, ma'am. I'm Felix's twin brother, Rudy." Explained the stranger.
"Okay, what do you want?" Kay-Si asked. "There's no poodles named
Sweetheart
here, if thats what your looking for."
"No, I just stopped by to warn you." Rudy told Kay-Si.
"Warn me? About what?!" Kay-Si wanted to know.
"That's for me to know, and you to find out." Said Rudy, then he ran
off.
Kay-Si was confused as to what he meant. She shut the door and walked
up to
her cousin.
"Who was it?" She asked.
"Someone named Rudy. Twin brother of Felix. He told me he was here to
warn
me, but I have no clue as to what." Kay-Si explained.
"Well, whatever it is, I hope it's nothing dangerous." Susan said.
"If he's related to Felix, it probably is." Kay-Si told her cousin.
That night, while everyone was sound asleep, a noise woke Steppenwolf.
He
turned to his wife.
"Kay-Si! Kay-Si!" He whispered to her.
"What?" Kay-Si asked, waking up from her sleep.
"Did you hear that?" Steppenwolf asked her.
"Hear what?" Kay-Si wanted to know.
"Well, I heard something," Steppenwolf told his wife, "I'll be right
back."
Steppenwolf got out of bed and put on his shoes. He turned to his wife
and
gave her a gentle kiss. He walked out of the room and shut the door.
Kay-Si
sighed and tryed to get back to sleep.
But when Steppenwolf got back, he woke Kay-Si back up.
"I was right, Kay-Si. I did hear something." He told her.
"What?" Kay-Si asked.
"Kay-Si, your not going to like this, but..." Steppenwolf began.
"Just tell me." Kay-Si said with a sigh.
"Dylan is... gone." Steppenwolf told his wife.
"Gone?! What happened to him?!" Asked Kay-Si, now wide awake with fear.
"Well, dont freak out, Kay-Si. He's safe. I found this note taped to
the
wall." Steppenwolf said, handing his wife a small piece of paper.
Kay-Si gasped at what she read on the piece of paper. This is what was
written on it:
Dear Mr. and Mrs.Echidna,
Your young son Dylan is here at the island's cave. Dont worry about him
he's
safe... for the time being, anyway. I'll give him back, if you do a
little
something for me. I wish to achieve what my brother has never
achieved... I
want that echidna named Kay-Si! Yes, I want YOU, Mrs.Echidna, in a
trade for
your son. Get here, fast, or your son will DROWN and die a terrible
death.
Signed,
Rudy
Kay-Si folded up the piece of paper. So THATS what Rudy meant when he
stopped
by earlier this evening! She thought.
"Kay-Si, I've got to go to the cave and get him," Steppenwolf
explained,
"WITHOUT trading you."
"I'm coming with you, Steppenwolf." Kay-Si said.
"But Kay-Si, your still very weak." Steppenwolf told her.
"I dont care! He's my son, too." Kay-Si said.
"Alright. I guess there's no use arguing with you. Come on, then."
Steppenwolf said, pulling his wife on to her feet.
They went to the cave, and they noticed that it would be hard to find
the
exact location of where Rudy and their son were. But Rudy was watching
them
on his TV-type-things, from his secret hideout.
"They have no idea that their every move is being watched, because I've
hidden cameras in these cave walls," said Rudy, "and, I've also hidden
machines. I can make a cave-in right in that very cave, using the
machines
I've hooked up."
Rudy then pushed a button, and he was right. A cave-in began. Kay-Si
looked
up, and noticed a boulder that was about to fall right on Steppenwolf!
Before
it did, she pushed Steppenwolf out of the way and the boulder hit her
instead.
"Kay-Si!" Steppenwolf said, rushing to her side.
There was blood all over her forehead. Steppenwolf's eyes started to
swell up
with tears.
"Oh, no! She can't die. Or I wont have what I want!" Rudy said angrily.
And in a tank, there was young Dylan, water pouring into the tank every
second. Steppenwolf and Kay-Si had better hurry up!
"Kay-Si, dont die." Steppenwolf told her.
Steppenwolf started to shed tears even more, and they fell right on
Kay-Si's
face. She stirred, and Steppenwolf was more than happy when she opened
her
eyes.
"We've got to get you out of here, Kay-Si." Steppenwolf told his wife.
"Who's Kay-Si?" Kay-Si asked confusingly.
"You are. Oh no, you didn't get amnesia, did you?!" Steppenwolf asked
Kay-Si.
"Yes! If she's got amnesia, then she might come over to me instead of
that
wretched guardian!" Rudy said happily.
The noise was enough to wake Dylan. He woke up from his slumber, and
soon
noticed that he was in a tank that was getting filled up with water.
He looked over to the TV-type-things, and saw both his parents.
"Hey, thats mom and dad! What are they doing here... and what am I
doing in
this tank?!" Dylan asked shockingly.
"Aw, put a lid on it, pipsqueek!" Rudy said to Dylan.
"No, I'm alright, Steppenwolf. I just lost my memory for a minute
there."
Kay-Si explained.
"Thank goodness your alright!" Said Steppenwolf, pulling Kay-Si up in
his
arms.
"Darnet! She got her memory back! No matter. I'll just create another
cave-in." Said Rudy evilly.
"No! You can't hurt my parents!" Shouted Dylan.
"There's not a thing you can do about it, pipsqueek." Said Rudy, then
he
pushed the button again.
And another boulder fell. Steppenwolf tryed to run out of the way of
it, but
it hit his shoulder blade. He fell to his hands and knees and his wife
came
rolling out of his arms. Kay-Si pulled herself up and looked at her
injured
husband.
"Steppenwolf! Your hurt!" She said with most panic.
"You think I haven't noticed that?" Steppenwolf said to his wife.
"Steppenwolf...! What about our son? We've got to find him!" Kay-Si
said, and
she tryed her best to walk in a straight line.
"I'm... coming." Said Steppenwolf, and he slowly got up.
Kay-Si then stopped and leaned on the cave wall for a second. Thats
when she
realized she wasn't leaning on the cave wall at all, she was leaning on
a
door! She fell through and her husband went in after her.
They then saw Rudy who was tinkering with some sort of machine. And
they
looked the other way and they saw their son trapped in a tank which was
getting filled up with water very quickly!
"Dylan!" Kay-Si said, and she ran over to him.
Steppenwolf followed her.
The water was up to Dylan's neck! They had to find a way to get him out
of
there!
"Well, well, well. So you've made it to my hideout. Give me her,
guardian!"
Said Rudy.
"No way!" Steppenwolf said, blocking Rudy from getting to Kay-Si.
This gave time for Kay-Si to free her son. She looked at the tank he
was in,
and then saw a whole bunch of buttons and knobs and stuff like that
below it.
She figured one of them must stop the water from going into the tank.
She
pulled a stick, but it only shut the door. She then found a button that
said
"WATER STOP" on it. She pushed it and the water stopped.
"Thanks, mom! Now can you please get me out of here?" Said Dylan to his
mother.
It seemed like there was no way out of the tank, and Dylan was all tied
up in
a rope so he couldn't climb his way out. Kay-Si then did all she could
do.
She climbed to the top of the tank and leaned over the side. She pulled
on
Dylan, and the tank fell over. She untied Dylan and he came crawling
out of
the tank. Then he stood up, and like a dog he shook all the water off
of him
which got on Kay-Si, who was now wet.
Kay-Si looked over her shoulder, and noticed that Rudy was gone. She
was too
busy rescuing her son from the watery tank that she forgot all about
Steppenwolf and Rudy. At first she wondered what happened there, but
then she
decided that it didn't matter.
"Come on, you two. Lets go." Said Steppenwolf to his wife and son.
Kay-Si nodded and her and Dylan followed Steppenwolf out of the cave.
Kay-Si was happy that they were finally getting out of that cave. She
didn't
like it;not one bit. After all, who would? It was terrible in there,
and she
never wanted to go back, because she now knew that this cave would
remind her
of her son almost dying, and it would also remind her of that terrible
echidna Rudy, and those terrible cave-ins. And she didn't want to think
of
any of those things any more.
But before they went home, they went to the hospital so their injuries
could
be tooken care of. They were out in no time, and soon got to go back
home and
be with their family.
And before they went to bed, Steppenwolf had something to say to
Kay-Si.
"I can't believe it... you risked your life, for me." He said
astonishingly.
"Yes.. and I would do it again, too." Kay-Si said.
"But why?" Steppenwolf asked.
"Because I love you, and I will love you forever and ever." Kay-Si
answered.
