------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------ Now They Are a Family By: SnowPuppy Steppenwolf, Kay-Si, and their newborn, Moonwatcher, were now a family. (Read the previous story, "Steppenwolf's Girl" for more information!) Kay-Si cradled her baby in her arms and rocked in the rocking-chair. The fire cracked in the fireplace. Their home now felt warm, and homey. Now that they were a family. It was early in the morning, and Steppenwolf was busy guarding the island. It was 4:00AM. Kay-Si cradled her baby to sleep. Good, Moonwatcher is finally asleep. She thought. She stood up and walked in Moonwatcher's room, and put him in his crib. "Nighty-night, Moonwatcher." Said Kay-Si. Kay-Si then walked into her's and Steppenwolf's room. She climbed into bed and went to sleep. She was exhuasted. Moonwatcher had kept her up most of the night. A noise woke Kay-Si up. Steppenwolf was coming back from guard duty. He walked in the room. "So you finally got Moonwatcher to sleep?" He asked. "Yeah..." She said in a groggy, tired voice. "Thats good. You should rest. You look tired." Said Steppenwolf. "Okay.." Said Kay-Si, falling to sleep as quick as she awoken. Steppenwolf knelt down and kissed her then went to check on Moonwatcher. Steppenwolf looked in Moonwatcher's crib, and looked at his newborn son. "My son." He said. Then he walked out of the room and went back outside for guard duty. Every now and then he would take a break from guard duty and check on his wife and child. It was Steppenwolf's job to guard the island, so he was on guard duty a lot. His alarm clock wakes him up at 4:00AM to start guard duty. He goes to sleep at 9:00PM that way he will get all the rest he needs. His guard duty starts at 4:00AM and continues through on the day, until 9:00PM when he goes to sleep. But he always checks on his wife and child every thirty minutes, to make sure they are doing okay, and so that they wont think that he's neglecting them. Kay-Si awoke at 7:00AM to start the day. She stretched and got out of bed. She walked in the kitchen and ate her breakfast. Then she heard a familiar cry. "Moonwatcher's awake." She said with a sigh. She walked in Moonwatcher's room and picked up the crying baby. "Shush, shush, it's okay, darling, mommy's here." She said, cradling the tiny baby in her arms. She took Moonwatcher in the kitchen for his breakfast. Moonwatcher stopped crying as the bottle was in his mouth. He sucked on it, getting all the milk he could out of it. Kay-Si heard the door. Steppenwolf was back in. "I see Moonwatcher is up and eating his breakfast. And he looks like he's pretty hungry." Said Steppenwolf. Kay-Si nodded. Moonwatcher drank all the milk, and was then crying again. Kay-Si put a pacifier in his mouth. Moonwatcher was then finally quiet. Steppenwolf noticed that Kay-Si could barely keep her eyes open. She had been trying to get Moonwatcher to sleep all night. "Let me see Moonwatcher for awhile. You go get some more rest. You need it." Said Steppenwolf. "But--" Started Kay-Si. "No excuses. Go on." Said Steppenwolf. Kay-Si handed Steppenwolf their son, and went back in the bedroom to go back to sleep. When Kay-Si woke back up, it was 9:00AM. She finally felt rested. She went in the living room, and there was Steppenwolf, cradling Moonwatcher in the rocking chair as Kay-Si had did the night before. "So your up." Said Steppenwolf. "Yeah..." Said Kay-Si. "Feel better?" Asked Steppenwolf. "Yeah, I do." Said Kay-Si. "Good." Said Steppenwolf. Moonwatcher went back to sleep and Steppenwolf went in Moonwatcher's room to put him down for his nap. Kay-Si was leaning by the doorway. She blinked her eyes and coughed. She fell to the floor and passed out. Steppenwolf turned his head and noticed his fallen wife. "Kay-Si!" He said, rushing to her side. He got a medic there. The medics done everything they could for her. The now-head medic, Donna-Da, shook her head. "We've done everything we could for her. Your wife is dead." She said. "No...! She cant be!" Said Steppenwolf. "It seems she has been poisoned. We got the poison out of her, but it seems we were too late." Said Donna-Da. "No. She cant be dead." Said Steppenwolf. He knelt down to Kay-Si. Tears were streaming down his cheeks. He shook his head. He didn't want to believe she was dead. "I'm afraid your going to have to give her a goodbye." Said Donna-Da. Donna-Da left them to be alone. "I dont want to believe your dead. But if I ever do find the person that did this to you.. they will pay. But.. you cant be dead... Kay-Si, if your still in there, do it like you always do.. fight the death..... like you've always done before." Said Steppenwolf, leaning down to kiss Kay-Si. He got up, then looked at her. Then he heard a sound he never thought he would hear. Beep, beep, beep. Her heart was beating again! Donna-Da came into the room. She had an astonished look on her face. "She's alive...! We never would have imagined..! But how...? We gave her all the possible medicines that would cure her..." Said the confused medic. "Love is the strongest medicine of all. And Steppenwolf gave it to me." Said Kay-Si, now conscious. Steppenwolf smiled. She had did it again, she had fought death and won, like she always had. "Your alright!" Said Steppenwolf, never thinking he would hear her voice again. "Of course I'm alright. I had the best medicine in the world, love. And only one person can give it to me." Said Kay-Si, she looked at Steppenwolf. "Kay-Si, I promise you I will find the person responsible for this... the person that almost made you die. They wont go away happy and proud of themselves for this... not if I have anything to do with it." Said Steppenwolf. "Yes I know. And I thank you for that." Said Kay-Si. The medics checked Kay-Si out, and she seemed to be perfectly fine, which was amazing. She got to go home the first day she was tooken in, which was also amazing. Every time Kay-Si ate breakfast, Steppenwolf would check if it had any poison in it, and every time it didn't, so that was a good sign. Hopefully whoever it was that did that to Kay-Si was long gone by now, thinking the job was done. Steppenwolf found out as days went by that the poison was actually for him, it's just that they put it in the wrong person's breakfast. And also, Steppenwolf found out who it was, a young dark legionnaire named Bonnie-Ta. Bonnie-Ta was reconized as the dark legionnaire that likes to kill by poisoning. Steppenwolf went looking for her. He had no luck the first time. "No luck?" Kay-Si asked him as he walked in the room. "No luck." Her husband said to her. Kay-Si sighed and went on reading her book. Steppenwolf walked in his son's room to see if he was alright. He was. He was taking his nap. He then walked out of Moonwatcher's room and returned to the living room where his wife was. "I'm going to go back out for awhile." Said Steppenwolf. "Okay." Said Kay-Si. He went out and shut the door gently, so he wouldn't wake up sleeping Moonwatcher. He went out and thought he heard something, it sounded like a gun. He moved out of the way and he saw the bullet hit a tree. He turned around, and who was there but, Bonnie-Ta! He stared at her for a minute without saying anything. But the silence was soon broken. "What are you staring at?" Said Bonnie-Ta. "You... your the one... your the one that almost killed my wife!" Said Steppenwolf angrily. "Oh is that who she is? I really didn't mean to try and kill your ugly little wife, I was trying to kill you. But it always backfired. I was also the one that shot her in the woods." Said Bonnie-Ta. "How could you...! And how did you get free?" Said Steppenwolf. "Free? Oh you must mean that lame-o portal-thing you sent my fellow dark legionnaires into. Well, you never sent ME into it. See, when you first came there, I went into hiding. I knew you was going to perform some crazy stunt, and I didn't want to be included in it. So I ran away. So I never really did get into that thing. And THATS why I've been trying to kill you. Because you sent my friends, and family, into that thing! And I'll probably never see them again!" Said Bonnie-Ta, tears swelling in her eyes. "Well I would've never sent them in there if they hadn't chosen the wrong path in life! Just as you have. Killing isn't the way to get back at someone... or anything else, for that matter. You could've killed my wife! I could kill you for that. But I'm not going to. You will live, but not here. If you want to see your friends and family again, then why dont you join them?" Said Steppenwolf. Bonnie-Ta knew what was coming. She was about to run, but her feet wouldn't move. She then noticed that Steppenwolf was circling his hands in Emerald green light, and he had stopped Bonnie-Ta from making a move. He also opened the portal again. He was going to send Bonnie-Ta into it. It sucked her up like she was nothing. Then Steppenwolf closed back the portal. Kay-Si came out of the house. "What was that all about?" She asked. "It was Bonnie-Ta. But she's gone now. We dont have to worry about her any more. She has joined her friends and family." Said Steppenwolf. "Oh, well, I'm glad that you found her." Said Kay-Si. Steppenwolf, knowing that his wife and child would be alright, went off to go back to his guard duty. Kay-Si sighed and went back in the house. When she entered, she heard crying. She knew Moonwatcher was awake. She went in his room and picked up the crying infant. It was back to the usual thing, now;Steppenwolf doing his guard duty, and Kay-Si taking care of Moonwatcher. Kay-Si sighed. Being the wife of a guardian was hard, but it was also nice, too. Because she knew that with the good came the bad, and she had accepted that along time ago. Moonwatcher cooed as he saw the milk bottle that would soon be entering his mouth. He drank the milk so fast that he got the hiccups. Kay-Si was used to this, because when it came to feeding Moonwatcher, he would eat.... FAST. She cradled her baby and soon he was back to sleep. Newborn infants need lots of naps, Kay-Si knew. She put him back in his crib, and sighed as she would continue her day. By nightfall, she was really exhuasted. She got in bed early because she was so tired. She heard Steppenwolf come in. She turned and watched the doorway until Steppenwolf was standing there. "How are you?" He asked her. "Okay, but tired." She replied. "Thats okay. You get some rest. I'll be back at nine, okay? Because I'm pretty tired myself." Said Steppenwolf. "Okay." Said the tired Kay-Si. Steppenwolf rubbed Kay-Si's forehead until she was asleep. He kissed her and went to check on Moonwatcher, which was sleeping and fine. He sighed and went back out to continue his guard duty until 9:00PM, the time that he came in to sleep, until 4:00AM. At 9:00PM, Kay-Si heard the door, but she wasn't aware of what was going on, because she was asleep. It was like she was hearing Steppenwolf come in in her dreams. Steppenwolf checked on Moonwatcher before he went to bed. He was doing fine, as usual. Steppenwolf then went to go to bed, and his wife was still asleep, and he kissed her on the forehead. Then he got in bed himself, and went to sleep. Kay-Si woke up at 2:00AM in the morning for some reason. She looked, and her husband was sound asleep. Her stomach hurt with pain, she wondered why. She started to breath hard, as if she was starting to go in shock. This woke her husband with a start. "Kay-Si, whats wrong?" He asked as he saw his wife breathing hardly. "I dont..know." She said. As crazy as it sounds, Steppenwolf had to get Kay-Si to the hospital... in the middle of the night. The new head medic, Em-Ma, looked at Steppenwolf. "Well...?" He wanted to know. "Your wife is, pregnant. Again, as I can see by the baby you are carrying in your arms. But it's different, this baby she is carrying isn't normal. There is something wrong with it. And it could easily kill her. We are going to have to get the egg out of her before it does. I'm sorry, but you have lost this baby. It will have to be taken out of her imidietly." Said Em-Ma. "Oh. I see, well, go along with it." Said Steppenwolf. The medics went to go operate on Kay-Si. She had to be asleep during this operation, because she might go in shock even more and die. The medics cut her open and got the egg out, which was a dud, and which was somehow putting pain on Kay-Si, pain that made her go in shock. They sewed Kay-Si back up, and soon she was fine, and back to normal. Steppenwolf came in to see her. "Are you alright?" He asked his wife. "A bit shaken, but, besides that, yes." She said. "Good." He said. Later on, they got to go back home. Steppenwolf told his wife that for the good of things, they shouldn't have any more children. Kay-Si knew he was right. That last egg took alot out of her. It took most of her energy, so she had to rest to gain it back. As months flew by, Kay-Si was back to energy, and soon Moonwatcher had his first birthday. Moonwatcher played in the cake, which amused Kay-Si. She cleaned it up, which didn't bother her one bit like it usually does. It seemed like Moonwatcher understood that this was his special day. It was exactly one year since Kay-Si had her first child. Moonwatcher got an extra bottle on his birthday, which delighted him even more. Three months after Moonwatcher's birthday, he said his first word. Which was, baby. "Bay-bee. Bay-bee.. baby!" He said. He pointed to himself when he said this word. His parents knew he meant himself. One night, Kay-Si was watching Moonwatcher play quietly on the floor. She smiled at him and went back to reading her book. Steppenwolf was gone for awhile, and Kay-Si knew he was just doing his job. But after awhile, she began to get worried. Steppenwolf didn't come in to check on them like he usually does. I hope he's alright. Thought Kay-Si. Kay-Si then heard the door. She was relieved that Steppenwolf was okay. Even if he did posess the powers of the Emerald and could take care of himself, Kay-Si still got worried. "Sorry I was gone so long. But I have a surprise for you." Said Steppenwolf. "What is it?" Asked Kay-Si looking up from her book. "We're going on vacation." Said Steppenwolf. "Vacation? To where?" Asked Kay-Si, suddenly feeling perky. "We're going on a boat ride. And after that we will be on one of the most beautiful beaches any one could possibly imagine." Said Steppenwolf to Kay-Si. Kay-Si's face lit up. She loved beaches. But she wasn't too sure about the boat part, she had never been on one before. It would be nice for her and Steppenwolf to go on vacation, since they haven't gone on one since Moonwatcher was born. Then it hit her. Moonwatcher! "What about Moonwatcher?" She asked. "He will be fine. All we have to do is find a babysitter for him." Said Steppenwolf. "I know.. what about my sister, Nick-Ol?" Asked Kay-Si. "I dont know.. she dont talk much.." Said Steppenwolf. "Well neither does Moonwatcher, only one word. And Nick-Ol talks more than him, because she will say SOME words. Not enough to make a full sentence, I know, but I know she would be good with him." Said Kay-Si. "Okay, we'll let Nick-Ol babysit. Call her, okay? I'll be in the shower." Said Steppenwolf. Kay-Si grabbed the phone and quickly dialed her younger sister's phone number. Kay-Si heard her sister's breathing over the phone. She knew that her sister had picked up the phone. "We were wondering if you would like to babysit for Moonwatcher. You know, my son? Can you make it?" Asked Kay-Si. "Uh-huh." Said Nick-Ol. "Great! Can ya come over, like, tomorrow morning? Okay, that's wonderful! See ya then!" Said Kay-Si. Kay-Si heard the phone click. She sat it back down. Kay-Si went in her's and Steppenwolf's room and layed on the bed for a moment. Then she got up and went back in the front room. She sat down by Moonwatcher, who was playing with blocks that he got for his first birthday. "Sweety, I know you probably dont understand what I'm saying, since your only a little over one, but tomorrow my sister Nick-Ol will be babysitting for you. I hope your good for her. Okay? Okay." Said Kay-Si. She got up and sat back in her chair. She picked up the book she was reading and continued to read it. Not long after that, Steppenwolf entered the room. "How was it?" He asked his wife. "She agreed to babysit." Said Kay-Si. "Let me guess. With a bunch of "uh-huhs", huh?" Said Steppenwolf. "Yes. With a bunch of "uh-huhs"." Said Kay-Si with a giggle. "I thought so. Well we better start packing... we leave tomorrow." Said Steppenwolf. "Yeah, okay." Said Kay-Si, putting down her book and heading into the bedroom to pack. The two went to bed a little earlier this time, just in case one of them forgot to get up early(which was usually Kay-Si, since Steppenwolf was used to getting up early.), instead of going to bed at 9:00PM, they went to bed at 8:00PM. Steppenwolf got into bed long before Kay-Si. Kay-Si was busy trying to put Moonwatcher to sleep. Finally, at 8:45PM, he was asleep. Kay-Si was relieved, and put him down in his crib. She entered her's and Steppenwolf's room, and climbed into bed. She closed her eyes, and as usual, was soon asleep. She felt someone shake her awake in the morning. It was Steppenwolf. "It's time to get up, darling." He said. Kay-Si rubbed her eyes and got out of bed. She heard a knock at the door. That must be Nick-Ol. She thought. She raced to the door and opened it. Sure enough, there was her younger sister. Nick-Ol waved "hello" to Kay-Si and Steppenwolf. She then went in Moonwatcher's bedroom and saw him. She imidietly fell in love with the little one-year-old. "Now, remember what I told you. Take GOOD care of him." Said Kay-Si. "Uh-huh! Uh-huh!" Said Nick-Ol. "And since I'm going to be away, look after the island too, okay, can I trust you on that?" Asked Steppenwolf. Nick-Ol nodded her head. She was a little shy around Kay-Si's husband. Not long after, Steppenwolf and Kay-Si left the house to go on their vacation. Kay-Si got on a boat;for the first time in her life. "It's a little wobbly." Said Kay-Si. "You'll soon get used to it." Said Steppenwolf. Kay-Si wasn't too sure about the wobbliness of the boat, but she sure did like everything else about it. It was nighttime, about 9:30PM, way past the regular time they go to bed. Kay-Si and Steppenwolf were watching the scenery. Kay-Si thought it looked beautiful. But after awhile, things weren't beautiful;a storm hit. The boat was more wobbly than ever, and Kay-Si wasn't even used to the normal wobbly yet. "We better go back to our room before you fall off the boat." Said Steppenwolf, noticing Kay-Si sliding around the boat. But the storm got so bad, that Kay-Si DID fall off the boat. Steppenwolf didn't notice this yet. But when he turned his head, he noticed she was gone. Then he heard a cry for help in the water. He looked down, and there was Kay-Si! "KAY-SI!" He said. Kay-Si didn't know how to swim very well, and this rough water was going to be even worse for her. She tryed her best to stay at the surface of the water, but she kept going down. She tryed and tryed, but the water's waves were pulling her under. She went deeper and deeper, and tryed to go back up, but the rough waters were just too much for her. She was losing air quickly, and didn't know what to do. Steppenwolf, a much better swimmer than Kay-Si, leapt off the boat and into the water. The power of the Chaos Emerald kept him from drowning. He went under and searched for Kay-Si. But so far, no luck. He went to the very bottom, and he found her, laying lifelessly. He grabbed her, and pulled her up. He soon got her to the surface. He put her body upon the boat, and held on to it himself. He then pulled himself up. He picked up Kay-Si's drowning body, and took her into their room on the boat. "Kay-Si, please speak to me." He said as he looked at her lifeless body on the bunk-bed. Kay-Si's lungs were filled with water. There was only one thing Steppenwolf could do. He had to give Kay-Si CPR. As a guardian, he knew how to do this. Finally, there was a sign of life in what looked like a lifeless body. Kay-Si coughed up water, and her eye's opened, as she got a breath of air. "Are you alright?" Asked Steppenwolf. "Y-yes. I think." Said Kay-Si. "You better get dry before you catch a cold." Said Steppenwolf, noticing Kay-Si's sopping wet body. Kay-Si nodded her head slowly. She felt dizzy, when she tryed to get up she fell back. "I'll get a towel for you. Maybe that'll do until you get your strength back." Said Steppenwolf. Kay-Si moved her head in what was suppose to be a nod, but a very weak one. Kay-Si finally got dry and Steppenwolf put her under the covers of the boat's traditional bunk-bed. He kissed her gingerly and got in his own bunk. When Kay-Si woke up, she took a big breath of fresh air and got up. She was feeling much better than the night before. She looked in her husband's bunk, and since it was empty, she figured he was already awake. He was. He was in one of the boats famous resturants, and he wasn't seated, just leaning on the wall, like he was waiting for something. Kay-Si went in and asked him why he wasn't seated. "I was waiting for you, dear." Answered Steppenwolf. "Waiting for me? Why didn't you wake me up first?" Asked Kay-Si. "I wanted you to wake up on your own. You needed all the rest you could get. I dont mind waiting." Said Steppenwolf. "Oh, your so sweet." Said Kay-Si. "Well, how about we get some breakfast?" Said Steppenwolf. Kay-Si nodded her head. She WAS hungry! While Kay-Si looked at her menu, she began to wonder how her child and sister were doing. I hope they're doing alright. Thought Kay-Si. Kay-Si was hungry, but she didn't want to eat anything too big. She looked at her menu one more time and decided on some oatmeal(the boat's special oatmeal), and some toast. The drink was orange juice. When they were finished with breakfast, they went back to their boat room for a bit. And then, they both went to a dance. They had a great time. Meanwhile, way back at their house, Nick-Ol was busy watching Moonwatcher. He wasn't used to this stranger, and often cryed because of it. Nick-Ol held her finger up to her lip to say "shhh". But what Moonwatcher did like was the meals Nick-Ol prepared for him. She didn't know much about cooking, which delighted Moonwatcher. "For baby! For baby!" Said Moonwatcher, who had recently learned how to say the word "for". Nick-Ol nodded her head in a "yes" and gave Moonwatcher a bowl of her own "special recipe". Moonwatcher looked at his food in disgust. Nick-Ol motioned her hands toward her mouth as if to say, "Eat it.". Moonwatcher picked some up and put it in his mouth. He actually liked Nick-Ol's meal. He begged for more. Nick-Ol nodded her head and prepared her meal, which had unexpected ingredients in it. This was Nick-Ol's recipe: My Secret Recipe Put all this stuff in blender: Orange Juice Two Bananas Three Scoops Ice Cream Barbecue Sauce(Not THAT hot) Mushed Up Beans Fav.Salad Dressing Carrot On Top(My fav.part!) Sounds icky, but it was good to Moonwatcher's taste. He loved it. Nick-Ol smiled as she got more and put it in the blender. It got messy when she made it, but she was willing to clean up. Moonwatcher ate the tasty treat as Nick-Ol cleaned up the mess of orange juice, bananas, ice cream, barbecue sauce, beans, salad dressing, and a carrot. **Meanwhile, back on the boat** They soon arrived at the beach, sooner than they had expected. Kay-Si was happy to get off that wobbly boat. She smiled as she was finally on nice, safe land again. They went to check out the beach and Kay-Si found it to be one of the beautiful beaches ever, as Steppenwolf had told her. At night they got to watch fire works in the sky, and Kay-Si was amazed at how beautiful this beach really was. "It's so beautiful." Said Kay-Si, looking up at the crackling fire works. "I told you." Said Steppenwolf. They were both sitting on the balcony of their hotel room. Steppenwolf and Kay-Si held hands, watching the fire works in the sky. Kay-Si quivered, but it was a good quiver. She quivered whenever her and Steppenwolf started to get close, and she got used to it. She leaned on his shoulder and watched the fire works change color and design right before her very eyes. After awhile, she didn't notice it, but she had fell to sleep right then and there. It seemed the comfort of her husband and the beautiful fire works had lulled her to sleep. When she woke up, she was in bed. She got up and found a table with food on it, on a gold plate. The food obviously hasn't been there very long, because steam was coming up from it. She then saw a note. She picked it up and looked at it. It was from Steppenwolf. This is what was written on it: Dear my beloved Kay-Si, I'm going out for awhile. I will be back soon. So dont worry about me. Here's your breakfast. I hope you like it, I ordered it espicially for you. If I'm not back by the time your finished eating, read this book I borrowed from the beach's library. I know you love reading. I will be back as soon as possible. I'm just out doing some errands. Okay? With Love, Steppenwolf Kay-Si put down the letter and ate her breakfast. She read the book Steppenwolf had borrowed from the library for her, and after awhile, got tired of it and put it down. She looked out the window for a moment and wondered what Steppenwolf was up to. Even though Steppenwolf told her not to, Kay-Si started getting worried. He said he would be back soon, and its been two hours sence she woke up, and he still wasn't back yet. She was about to go outside and look for him when he entered the room. He was carrying a box. Curious what was in it, Kay-Si questioned him about it. "You'll have to see for yourself." Said Steppenwolf, handing the box to Kay-Si. "It's for me?" Kay-Si asked, taking the box. "Yes.." Said Steppenwolf. Kay-Si took off the ribbon and took the lid off of the box. And what she saw was tissue paper. She took the tissue paper off, and what she found laying in the box was one of the most beautiful things she had ever seen. It was a dress, a beautiful dress that came with a matching pair of shoes and a beautiful diamond necklace. "Oh, you shouldn't have." Said Kay-Si. "Well, I wanted to." Said Steppenwolf. Steppenwolf got out a bag. "And in this bag is souvenirs from the beach, to bring home for Moonwatcher, and I even got one for your sister Nick-Ol." Said Steppenwolf. "Oh, thats nice. What'd ya get?" Said Kay-Si. "I got a colorful rattle for Moonwatcher that says Astonished Islands on it, which is the name of the beach. And for Nick-Ol I got a minature-sized radio." Said Steppenwolf, holding up the souvenirs. "Thats REALLY minature-sized!" Said Kay-Si, looking at the tiny radio. "Yes and it really works, too." Said Steppenwolf, turning it on. "Thats cute, I'm sure she'll like that." Said Kay-Si over the music of the radio. "I'm sure she will." Said Steppenwolf, turning it off. "By the way, thanks for the present." Said Kay-Si. "Oh thats no problem. You can wear it tonight to the festival we're going to. It's down on the beach. It's suppose to be really nice." Said Steppenwolf. "Wow, cool. Okay." Said Kay-Si. "Yes, and by the way, we're leaving for home in about a week. Okay?" Said Steppenwolf. "'Kay." Said Kay-Si. **Meanwhile, back at their home** Nick-Ol was trying to get Moonwatcher to go to sleep. But Moonwatcher knew Nick-Ol wasn't his mother, and he refused to go to sleep. She tryed and tryed. Finally she got him to. Now she knew what her sister went through. Except it was easier for Kay-Si to put Moonwatcher to sleep, because, after all, she was his mother. Nick-Ol yawned and decided to get to sleep herself. She put Moonwatcher in his crib and went to sleep on the rug, by the fireplace. When she woke up she had to feed Moonwatcher again. She sighed and fixed him the same thing she did before. **Meanwhile, back on the beach** The next day, er, um, night, as it was now, was the festival. Kay-Si was dressed in her new outfit and she and Steppenwolf were having a great time. The festival had many nice foods, and it had more fireworks, and it had dances, and everything you could think of to have a perfect evening. When the festival was over, everyone went home, except for Kay-Si and Steppenwolf. "Did you have a good time?" Asked Steppenwolf. "A great time." Replied Kay-Si. Without saying another word, they both kissed in the moonlight. After awhile, they both went back to the hotel, because they were exhuasted from the long night. **A week later** "Well, we got to get back on the boat, we're heading home. Better get your stuff." Said Steppenwolf to Kay-Si. Kay-Si nodded and re-packed her stuff. They then both went out and got on the boat, which was wobbly, as usual, and which Kay-Si didn't like. "I feel like I'm going to barf. I hate this wobbliness." Said Kay-Si. "Well we'll be home by tomorrow. The island's not very far away from here. And the wobbliness will soon go away." Said Steppenwolf. Kay-Si spent most of the rest of the boat ride in her bunk-bed. The wobbliness really got to her. When they got home, Kay-Si was realieved. She told Nick-Ol thanks, and Nick-Ol nodded, and then she collapsed on her bed, exhuasted from their vacation. Her husband was exhuasted as well, but he tryed not to show it. They were both glad to see their baby, Moonwatcher, again, and that everything was back to normal, because a vacation takes alot out of ya. They looked at Moonwatcher, and they were a family, once more. THE END ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------
