The Days of Their Lives By:SnowPuppy One morning, Kay-Si woke up in bed, and looked out the window. She couldn't see anything;it was foggy. She stretched and got out of bed, and walked into the kitchen for breakfast. But before she even made it to the kitchen, she heard Dylan, he was waking up. She walked in her son's room and picked up the crying baby. She walked in the kitchen and knew that Dylan would be eating his breakfast before she would be eating her's. She fed Dylan his milk, and he loved it;just as Moonwatcher had when he was a baby. Soon, Dylan had drank all of the milk. He burped, and went back to sleep. Kay-Si knew babies needed lots of sleep, so she put Dylan back in his crib. Finally, she got to eat breakfast herself. Then she heard the door. Steppenwolf and Moonwatcher were back in from their guard duty. She sighed, as she knew what was coming, so she put out a bowl of oranges, she knew Moonwatcher would be taking some. And she was right;he did. As always. Kay-Si sighed at him. "Why dont you eat a different snack, rather than oranges all the time?" Said Kay-Si. "Because, I like oranges." Said Moonwatcher. "Yeah, well, I'm going to start putting out a different fruit for you to take." Said Kay-Si. "But---!" Moonwatcher started. "Sweety, you can still have oranges, just not all the time." Said Kay-Si. "Okay... I'll be back later, then." Said Moonwatcher. "Where are you going? Your still on your break." Said Kay-Si. "Yeah... but I want to go out for awhile. Molly-Ca's birthday party." Said Moonwatcher. "Okay." Said Kay-Si, shrugging. So Moonwatcher went back out. It was awfully foggy, so it was hard for him to see where he was going clearly. He was trying to find his way to Molly-Ca's, because Molly-Ca's mother, Jessie-Ca, had called Moonwatcher, and it was Molly-Ca's surprise birthday party and Jessie-Ca wanted Moonwatcher there. He hoped that he was going the right way. It was hard to see anything in the fog. Then, he felt nothing. He looked below him, and noticed his mistake. He had walked right off of the edge of the island! The fog was so thick, that he hadn't even noticed where he was going. But what was he going to do now? He was falling very quickly, and would soon hit the water below. And he did. He fell deep into the water. He tried his very best to reach the surface of the water. Finally, he did, but he looked up. The island was very far away. How was he going to get back up there? And, he couldn't stay at the surface forever, soon he would get tired, and drown. But minutes after minutes passed by, and soon it was time for Moonwatcher and Steppenwolf to go back on guard duty. But Moonwatcher couldn't;for he was still swimming for dear life in the water below. Kay-Si was concerned, so she called up Jessie-Ca. Jessie-Ca told Kay-Si that Moonwatcher had not made it to the birthday party, and that worried Kay-Si even more. Kay-Si told her husband Steppenwolf about this. They both figured out that Moonwatcher probably got lost somehow, because of the thick fog. But where was he, was the question. Kay-Si and Steppenwolf waited until the fog cleared up, and then they went to go look for their son. But they had no idea that Moonwatcher was drowning in the water below the island. Moonwatcher was trying his very best to stay above the surface of the water. But he was already getting tired. He didn't know what to do! It looked so hopeless for him. Soon, he was getting very sore, because he wanted so badly to rest. But if he stopped, he would fall underneath the water's surface, and drown. Finally, he decided that he wasn't getting anywhere by just staying in one spot. He had to find land. So he swam and swam, hoping to find some. His parents looked for him everywhere on the island, but he was no where to be seen. They both had the thought that Moonwatcher could've fallen off the island, because it was so foggy then and it was hard to see where you were going. Kay-Si was very frightened. Kay-Si walked over to the edge of the island. "What are you doing?!" Steppenwolf asked her. "If Moonwatcher is down there... I've got to go and get him." Replied Kay-Si. "No, Kay-Si! You cannot do that! I dont want to lose you, too!" Said Steppenwolf. "But what else is there to do? I've got to find him!" Said Kay-Si. "But he might not even be down there!" Said Steppenwolf. "Well, he's sure not on the island! I've got to find him, Steppenwolf! I have to!" Said Kay-Si. "Well, if your going down there, I'm going with you." Said Steppenwolf. "But---!" Kay-Si started. "No buts, Kay-Si. He's my son, too." Said Steppenwolf. "But what about Dylan?" Kay-Si asked. "The Bils family is looking after him." Replied Steppenwolf. Kay-Si knew she had to, so she went ahead and done it anyway. She had leapt from the island and hit the water below. She had to find her son;she just had to! She looked all over for him, hoping to find him... alive. And Steppenwolf followed his wife. He jumped in after her. And Moonwatcher, was still in the water. He was about a mile away from his parents. He sighed, as it looked hopeless for him ever to find land. I'm going to die out here... I just know it! Thought Moonwatcher. He had no idea whatsoever what to do. He was getting tired, and pretty soon he wouldn't be able to hold himself up. He wished that there was some way he could get back on to the island, some way... but as of now, everything seemed hopeless. Kay-Si, who barely knew how to swim(only a little), was sinking under the water's surface. Luckily, her husband was there to pull her back up. Steppenwolf held on to Kay-Si with one arm and swam with the other. They both, were very concerned about their son(as you might've guessed.). Moonwatcher decided to turn back, for some reason. He didn't know why, but he felt as if he had a better chance of surviving if he only turned back. So he did. He swam and swam, and hoped that he wouldn't fall under and drown while he was trying to find his way back. But now, there was a glimmer of hope. For Steppenwolf and Moonwatcher were swimming in the same direction, and would soon meet up with each other, as long as one of them didn't get tired and fall under, that is. But Moonwatcher was the one getting tired. And the sun was shining on him, so it was making him sleepy. He wanted more than anything to stop and rest, but if he did... oh, you know what would happen. But he couldn't help it. He started to fall asleep, and fall under. Moonwatcher was drowning, but will his parents show up in time to save him? Well, they were getting closer to where Moonwatcher was. But would they find him, that was the question. Because Moonwatcher had just fallen asleep, and was falling deep beneath the water's surface. He was running out of air, and would soon drown if they didn't get there in time to rescue him. Moonwatcher was falling deeper and deeper. Soon, he would hit the bottom. It looked pretty hopeless for Moonwatcher... but do you think he'll be saved? Well, read on! Steppenwolf had gotten to the exact place Moonwatcher was. And he was still holding his frightened wife, Kay-Si, in his other arm. "Oh, who knows where he is! It doesn't look like we'll be finding him anytime soon..." Said Kay-Si frightfully. "Oh, dont say that, Kay-Si! Dont give up now! We've got to find him." Said Steppenwolf to his wife. Kay-Si nodded her head in agreement. She wanted more than anything to find their lost son. "But... but what if he went underneath the water? How will we ever find him?" Kay-Si said, frightened. "Well I'm going to go underneath there and see if I can see him." Said Steppenwolf. "But.. what will I do?" Asked Kay-Si, knowing that if Steppenwolf went under she'd be going along with him, for he was still holding on to her. "Just hold your breath, Kay-Si." Said Steppenwolf. And so she did. They went under and Steppenwolf looked all around for Moonwatcher. Finally, when he thought he never would, he spotted him, laying lifelessly. Steppenwolf looked at Kay-Si. He noticed that by the expression on her face she couldn't hold her breath much longer. So Steppenwolf swam back up to the surface, for air. Steppenwolf told Kay-Si that once she got enough air, she was going to have to hold her breath one more time, because they had to go back under to get Moonwatcher. So she took a big breath of air, and held her breath. They went back under, and Steppenwolf swam closer and closer to Moonwatcher. Finally, when they got to him, Steppenwolf noticed his mistake. He only had two arms, and they weren't free, because one was wrapped around Kay-Si, to keep her from drowning, and the other he was using to swim. Kay-Si got the message, so she reached out and grabbed Moonwatcher herself. Steppenwolf exhaustingly pulled them all back up to the surface of the water. "Okay.. so we, found Moonwatcher. But how are we going to get back up to the island?" Kay-Si asked, out of breath. Steppenwolf noticed a log floating in the water. He told Kay-Si to hold on to it until he figured out what to do. Kay-Si did as she was told, and got a firm grip on the log. Finally, the three were in luck. Jessie-Ca and Loren, Molly-Ca and Zoey-Ca's parents, were just happening to be looking for Moonwatcher on the island when they peered over the edge and saw the three echidnas in the water below. "Oh my goodness! Dont worry, we will help you!" Jessie-Ca shouted out to them. Jessie-Ca got a rope and lowered it down for them to grab on to. Steppenwolf got his wife and they both held on to the rope. Kay-Si was tightly holding on to her son, trying to make sure that he wouldn't fall. Jessie-Ca and Loren then both pulled the rope up and they all climbed back onto the island. But Kay-Si started to worry. "What about Moonwatcher? Will he be alright?" Said Kay-Si, in tears. "Oh, we better get you three inside before you all catch a cold!" Said Jessie-Ca. So they went inside, and dryed off. And after that, Steppenwolf slowly gave Moonwatcher CPR. He coughed up water and everyone, espicially Kay-Si and Steppenwolf, were relieved that he was okay. "What happened?" Asked Moonwatcher with a cough. "You fell underneath the water's surface and were drowning." Replied Steppenwolf. "Oh, I remember, now." Said Moonwatcher weakly. "Well, we will be going home now, if you like." Said Kay-Si. "Okay." Said Moonwatcher. "Bye, see you later." Said Jessie-Ca, waving to them. "Bye, Jessie-Ca! And thanks!" Said Kay-Si. And so they all headed home, and hoped that the rest of the day would be good. When they were home, Kay-Si noticed Moonwatcher coughing and sneezing a lot. She looked at him concerningly. "It looks like your coming down with a cold, honey." Said Kay-Si. "It sure seems that way." Said Moonwatcher. "Yeah well, it's probably because you were in that water too long. And your coughing too much. You should take some cough medicine." Said Kay-Si worriedly. "Awwww... do I hafta?" Said Moonwatcher with a cough. "If you want to get better, yes. You dont want to keep coughing like that the rest of the day, do you?" Said Kay-Si. "Oh, okay!" Said Moonwatcher. Kay-Si got the cough medicine and Moonwatcher took some. "It's certainly got an awful taste!" Said Moonwatcher, making a face. "Yes, well, it's better off this way that way you wont get worse and that way other people wont catch it from you." Said Kay-Si. And the next day, when Moonwatcher woke up, he found out that his cold had gotten worse. He now had a sore throat and he felt dizzy. He wished that he had never fallen off of the island. Kay-Si came into the room and looked at him. "Sweetheart, you look worse than you did before. Get back in bed and rest. You dont want that cold of yours to turn into a fever. I'll bring some juice and a muffin for you." Said Kay-Si. "Okay... thanks, mom." Said Moonwatcher with a sigh. He got back in bed so he could rest. Walking around wasn't going to do him any good, because he was feeling dizzy, and he needed all the rest he could get if he ever was going to get better. But soon, later on, he noticed that he was getting even worse. He started to itch all over. And soon, he noticed that he was getting sores all over his body. Kay-Si looked at him. "Now I know what you have." Said Kay-Si. "What I have?" Asked Moonwatcher. "You have the chicken pox. You'll have those itchy sores on you for a few days, and yes, they will itch more. But, dont worry about it. You'll be over your sickness probably in about four or five days." Said Kay-Si. "Four or five days? But---!" Began Moonwatcher. "Sweetheart, I'm sorry. But thats what you have, the chicken pox. And it's very contagious, so you'll have to stay here... no going to Molly-Ca's or anything." Said Kay-Si firmly. Moonwatcher's parents both had already had the chicken pox, so it was okay for them to check on their son every once in awhile. But Dylan hasn't had the chicken pox, so Moonwatcher couldn't be near his brother in his time of sickness. Moonwatcher wished that his chicken pox would hurry up and go away. But everytime he woke up, the itchy spots were still there. He began to think that his chicken pox would never go away. But one morning, he woke up, his spots were still there but they weren't itching anymore! Infact, it looked like they were drying up. He went to go ask his mother about it. "Yes, your spots are definatly drying up. You are no longer contagious, and you may see your friends again." Said Kay-Si. "Yippee!" Said Moonwatcher happily. Soon, Moonwatcher's spots disappeared. He was glad that he was no longer sick anymore. He hates being sick, and he was glad, VERY glad, that he was well again. THE END
