The Birth of Lynz-Si By:SnowPuppy Kay-Si was in the living room, sitting on the couch reading a book. But her focus really wasn't on the book. She kept thinking about her pregnancy;and that same question raced through her mind: would she live through this, would both her, and her baby, survive? She just couldn't get it off of her mind. Moonwatcher then came in the room and noticed the expression on his mother's face. "Mom...?" He asked. "What?" Asked Kay-Si. "Are you alright?" Moonwatcher asked his mother. "Yes... I'm fine." Kay-Si replied. And, without saying more, Moonwatcher walked out of the room. Kay-Si put down her book, and went into her's and Steppenwolf's bedroom to rest. She collapsed on the bed and fell asleep. But she had a dream. A very terrifying dream. She dreamt that she died before she even got to meet her new baby. This dream sent her awake in a flash. She then noticed that she was in the covers, which she hadn't been before. She looked to her side and found the answer of why she was in the covers now when she wasn't before. Her husband, Steppenwolf, was sound asleep next to her. She looked at the clock;12:00AM! She had been asleep for a long time, she noticed, because she went to sleep at 6:00PM, because she was really tired. That same question kept haunting her... would she die or live? She couldn't help it. That question had been haunting her ever since she found out she was pregnant. But she didn't want to go to sleep, for number 1, she was afraid she'd have another terrifying dream. And for number 2, she wasn't tired anymore. She decided to take a walk outside, even if it was dark, for maybe it would calm her down a bit. She slowly got out of bed, careful not to wake Steppenwolf, whom was still sound asleep. She made her way out of the house and out into the night. She took a walk, and when she got tired, she sat down under a tree. She sighed, and looked up into the sky, where the many stars shined down on the island. After staring into the sky for so long, she fell asleep. But a noise woke her. She looked all around, and saw what looked like the figure of an echidna coming towards her. Her eyes widened as she saw who it was. It was, Lyssa-Ra?! My eyes must be deceiving me, she thought, that can't be Lyssa-Ra;Lyssa-Ra is dead! "Kay-Si" Spoke Lyssa-Ra. "Lyssa-Ra? Is that... you?" Kay-Si asked, frightened. "Yes, it's me." Lyssa-Ra answered. "But... how can that be?" Kay-Si asked in confusement. "It just is, Kay-Si. Someday you will understand." Lyssa-Ra said to Kay-Si. "Well, if that IS you," began Kay-Si, "what are you doing here?" "I know you are very upset because you are afraid of death, Kay-Si," began Lyssa-Ra. "But there's no reason to be." "Not just death," said Kay-Si, "I'm also afraid that I'll lose my baby, and I'll live. Or vise versa. I'm so afraid... it's been haunting me ever since I found out I was pregnant." "Well just keep calm, Kay-Si," Lyssa-Ra told Kay-Si. "You AND your baby have a better chance of living if you dont worry about it so much. So please, dont worry so much about it. I dont want you to die and join me, Kay-Si. You have so much to live for." "Thanks. I will try not to worry so much." Kay-Si said. But then, everything disappeared. All Kay-Si saw now was nothing, and she felt someone shake her and tell her to wake up, which she soon recognized as Steppenwolf. Kay-Si slowly opened her eyes and saw her husband looking down at her. She then noticed that it was now daytime. Was I just dreaming? She wondered, was all that just a dream? "Kay-Si, I have been looking for you everywhere!" Steppenwolf told her. Steppenwolf's voice snapped her back to reality. "Sorry." She managed to say. "That's okay... but... what are you doing out here anyway?" Steppenwolf asked her. "Well I didn't feel all that great, and I thought coming out here would make me feel better." Replied Kay-Si. "Is your pregnancy still on your mind?" Steppenwolf asked her. "Yes, it has been. All night." Replied Kay-Si. "Please try to relax, Kay-Si," Steppenwolf told her. "I know your worried about whats going to happen, I am too. I dont want to lose you, or our baby. But you must relax, Kay-Si. Or this is going to haunt you until the time comes for you to give birth." "Yes, I know," Kay-Si said, "Lyssa-Ra told me." "Lyssa-Ra...?" Steppenwolf asked in confusement. "Yes, she told me not to worry about it so much... but it was only a dream." Kay-Si told Steppenwolf. "Well dream or no dream, she was right. You dont need to worry about it so much." Steppenwolf told his wife. "But what if something does happen?" Kay-Si said, frightened. "If something does happen, then we will worry about it when it does. But there's no reason to worry about it now. Your just going to give yourself a hard time." Steppenwolf said. "Maybe your right." Kay-Si admitted. "Why dont you come inside now? You look cold." Steppenwolf asked, changing the subject. "Yeah, I am." Kay-Si said. "Come on." Said Steppenwolf, pulling his wife on to her feet. They then went inside, and Moonwatcher was glad to see that his mother was alright. "Mother! Where have you been?" Moonwatcher asked her. "Outside." Kay-Si replied. "Yeah, I can see that. But what were you doing out there?" Moonwatcher asked. "Well, something was bothering me, and I decided to go out for awhile. I thought it would make me feel better." Replied Kay-Si. "And that "something" was her pregnancy. It was on her mind again." Steppenwolf said. "Oh, I get it." Moonwatcher said. "Yeah. She's had a rough night." Said Steppenwolf. "I have." Kay-Si said. "We've all had a rough night." Moonwatcher admitted. "How?" Kay-Si asked. "Because we were worried about you, thats why!" Moonwatcher told his mother. "Yeah, when I got up at 4:00AM I noticed you were gone." Steppenwolf said to his wife. "Sorry about that," Kay-Si said, "it's just that a lot was on my mind." "Yeah, well, it's not too hard to figure that out." Steppenwolf said. "Yeah, you haven't been yourself lately, not saying much and all. Something was definatly on your mind." Moonwatcher said to his mother. "Yeah, I guess that was obvious." Kay-Si said. "More than obvious." Moonwatcher said with a smile. "Yeah, and now that I know my wife is okay, I'm going to go take a shower." Said Steppenwolf, kissing Kay-Si on the cheek. Kay-Si sighed and went to go make breakfast, she was VERY hungry. She hadn't eaten since yesterday, and she knew that a pregnant mother needed more food than someone normally would. Right when she was about to make breakfast, she heard a knock at the door. She sighed and went to go get it. It was her cousin;Susan-Na! "Susan! I haven't seen you in awhile! Please come in." Said Kay-Si. "Thanks, Kay-Si." Said Susan, coming in. "Susan!" Shouted Moonwatcher, jumping up from the couch. "Hi Moonwatcher." Susan said. "I was just making breakfast, you want some?" Kay-Si asked her cousin. "Thanks, I haven't ate anything today," Susan said. "Hey, is it just me, or have you gained weight?" "Yes, I have," Kay-Si told her cousin, "I'm pregnant." "Pregnant?" Asked Susan, going back in shock. "Yes, I was just as shocked as you when I found out, or more." Kay-Si replied. "Your pregnant? That's great, Kay-Si, but I'm worried. I mean, you could easily lose your life, or your baby, you know." Said Susan worriedly. "She knows that," Moonwatcher said, "and I dont think you should remind her. It's been on her mind all night." "Sorry, Kay-Si." Apologized Susan. "That's okay, come on. Lets go get some breakfast. I'm starving!" Said Kay-Si. "Sounds like a good idea to me." Agreed Susan. So the two cousins had breakfast and Moonwatcher ate with them, even if he already had breakfast, he wanted it again. When Steppenwolf was out of the shower and he came in the kitchen, the first thing he noticed was Susan. "I didn't know you were here." He said. "Yeah, she came over while you was in the shower." Kay-Si said. "How's everything going, Mr.Echidna?" Susan asked Steppenwolf. "Not so well. I woke up this morning to find out my wife had decided to take a walk in the middle of the night." Replied Steppenwolf. "Yeah, she told me about that. That she's pregnant and everything." Susan said. "Yeah, and we were looking for her everywhere. It was like she just disappeared or something. Until I spotted her under that tree, sound asleep." Steppenwolf told Susan. "Yeah, well, I'm sorry about all of that. I didn't know it would worry you that much." Kay-Si apologized. "What do you mean, Kay-Si? I love you, and I wouldn't rest until I found you." Steppenwolf told Kay-Si. "Well, you found me." Kay-Si said. "Yes, and that I'm very thankful for." Steppenwolf said to his wife. "You know what I'm thankful for?" Kay-Si asked. "What?" Steppenwolf asked her. "Having a husband like you." Kay-Si replied. "Aw, Kay-Si, that means so much." Said Steppenwolf, then they gave each other a kiss. Susan smiled at them. "It's amazing." "What is?" Kay-Si asked her. "Well, Kay-Si, you have had a crush on Steppenwolf for a very long time, even before you met him. And now that your married to him, and have been for a very long time, I find that very amazing." Replied Susan. "You've had a crush on me that long?" Steppenwolf asked his wife. "Yeah, I have," Kay-Si replied, "and my dream was to marry you." "Well, it looks like your dream has come true." Said Steppenwolf. "Yeah, it has." Said Kay-Si happily. "Well, enough mushy stuff," Said Susan, "Lets all go outside, and you can fill me in on whats all been going on." "Okay." Kay-Si agreed. So they all went outside, including Moonwatcher. "So, what is it you want to talk about?" Kay-Si asked her cousin. "Well, I've noticed that your son, Moonwatcher, over there, hasn't been acting like I remember. Is anything wrong, anything you haven't told me yet?" Susan asked. "Well, yeah, but I dont think talking about it is such a good idea." Kay-Si said. "No, really, mother, I can tell her." Said Moonwatcher. "Are you sure, honey?" Kay-Si asked her son. "Yeah, I'm sure. I can tell her." Said Moonwatcher. "Okay, what is it?" Susan asked Moonwatcher. "Well, almost a year ago, I lost... I lost my wife." Moonwatcher said in a shaky, teary voice. "Oh, I'm so sorry." Susan said, trying to make Moonwatcher feel better. "Thats... okay." Moonwatcher managed to say. "Speaking of Lyssa-Ra, I had a dream about her." Kay-Si suddenly brought up. "You did?" Asked Moonwatcher, his spirit suddenly brightened and a smirk star ting to grow on his face. "Yeah, she came to me in a dream, and said I shouldn't worry so much about my pregnancy. It was weird. It seemed so real." Said Kay-Si. "Wow. I wish I had a dream about her. I never got to say goodbye. I wish... so much, for me to see her one more time." Said Moonwatcher. "Maybe you will." Said Kay-Si. "What do you mean?" Asked Moonwatcher. "Well, it is possible, isn't it?" Replied Kay-Si. "I guess so." Said Moonwatcher. "Well, I dont really know, but maybe you will get your wish." Said Kay-Si. "I sure hope so." Moonwatcher said. "Well, I'm very sorry about your loss, Moonwatcher. That must have been hard on you." Susan said to Moonwatcher. "You dont know the half of it." Said Kay-Si. "Yeah, and now Harlan will never know his mother. And because of my mother's pregnancy, I'm afraid he'll never know his grandmother either." Moonwatcher said, in tears. "You mustn't talk like that, Moonwatcher. I'm sure your mother will be just fine. And even though Lyssa-Ra is dead, you can still share the memories of her with your son." Susan said calmly to Moonwatcher. "Yeah, I guess your right." Moonwatcher agreed. "But I'm not too sure about what you said, Susan. Moonwatcher's right. I might easily die." Kay-Si admitted. "Yeah, but you shouldn't worry about that right now, Kay-Si. The time hasn't come yet for you to give birth. And when it does come, you can be prepared f or it then." Susan said to her cousin. "Yeah.. I guess." Kay-Si agreed. That night, when Kay-Si and Steppenwolf were sound asleep, Kay-Si woke up uncomfortably. "S-Steppenwolf!" Kay-Si said, shaking her husband awake. "Kay-Si? What is it?" Steppenwolf asked his wife tiredly. "I'm ready to... I'm ready to..." Kay-Si began. Steppenwolf's eyes flew wide open. "I get the picture, Kay-Si." He told her. Steppenwolf had to rush his wife to the hospital... in the middle of the night. She was ready to give birth. This is it, she thought, I'll soon know if I'll die or live. Kay-Si was still very frightened. But the time has come... she had to do this. And when it was over with, she would find out if she would live... or die. Steppenwolf looked at her while she was in the emergency room. "If I lose you, Kay-Si, I want one last kiss from you." He said, and he gently kissed her. Tears poured from Kay-Si's eyes. She sure hoped, more than anything, that she would survive... she didn't want to die;not now. Her eyes swelled with tears as more tears threatened. But she knew she'd have to get this over with. It was the biggest nightmare of her life... but it would soon all be over. There was a 50% chance she would live, and a 50% chance she would die. So even the doctors didn't know weather she'd die during this, or miraculously survive. And she was happy to know that she successfully gave birth. But she was still very weak, and she still might die. But she hoped she wouldn't. She lay there on the hospital bed, breathing very hardly, and trying to get some rest that her body now needed. Steppenwolf stayed by her side the whole time. If she did die, he wanted to be there to say goodbye to her, as much as he hated to. But Kay-Si kept telling her husband, "No, I wont die. I wont leave you, I wont leave my family." Steppenwolf knew that Kay-Si was fighting for her life, but if she did die there was no way for her to stop it. But Steppenwolf hoped with all his heart, that his wife would survive. Kay-Si then shut her eyes to get her rest. Before she fell asleep, these questions crossed her mind;would she wake up from this sleep? Or would this be her last moment in life? Before she fell asleep, this is what she told Steppenwolf: "If I do die, I want you to know that I will always love you." "Me too, Kay-Si." Steppenwolf slowly told her. She closed her eyes and fell asleep. Her husband still sat by her, he didn't want to take his eyes off of her, not even for a minute, because he was afraid that he would lose her. But, miraculously, Kay-Si woke up from her slumber. Steppenwolf was overjoyed that his wife was still alright. "I thought I was going to lose you." Steppenwolf told her. "No, I refuse to die, Steppenwolf. I want to live, and be there for my family. I love you all, so very much." Said Kay-Si weakly. And thats when their baby hatched from it's egg. Kay-Si was delighted that her baby was alive and alright. Tears poured from her eyes, but this time they were happy tears, not sad tears. And the baby was a girl. They named her Lynz-Si. Lynz-Si then got a firm grip on her mother's finger, and Kay-Si smiled at her new daughter. Kay-Si cradled her newborn in her arms with such grace, and her and Steppenwolf looked down at their baby with happiness on their faces, where tears once were. Kay-Si now thought this; What a happy family they would now be. THE END Dont miss my next fanfic, "Forever and Ever"!
