Disclaimer: I don’t own any Sonic or Diablo related characters. They belong to Sega/Archie Comics & Blizzard. The only characters here that are mine is my version of the Dark Wanderer, and another guy I won’t be using for another chapter or two. Also, the plot is mine (until later).

Note: This is my first fic EVER, so please be gentle with the reviews…

               TERROR AWAKES

“Now, Lord of Terror, I vanquish thee!” the noble hero proclaimed, as the hulking demon was now upon death, and let loose one final cry as the human plunged his blade into his thick hide. Diablo was now dead, and the Soulstone that contained his essence was about to be destroyed on the Hellforge. The Dark Lord knew that if he didn’t plan something, his soul would be banished for good this time, but is was too late, as the hammer smashed the gem into pieces, and Diablo was eternally banished into the Dark Abyss. Now, the only way out would be if someone were to let him out…

Knuckles had awaked in the middle of the night from a horrible nightmare, one that even he was trembling because of. Julie-su came from the other room (in this fic, their relationship is semi-official) to question the disturbance. “What happened?” she asked, in a still tired voice. Knuckles, who was still sweating from the ordeal, replied, “It was just a nightmare, I guess. But it felt so real.”
“Maybe it was one of those omen dreams, you know, the ones that are supposed to signal an oncoming event,” Julie-su suggested. Knuckles shuddered at the thought.
“I hope not,” he responded, still shaking.
“That bad, huh?” The red echidna nodded, and then tried to regain some sleep, before it was morning. Julie-su watched silently as he went back to sleep, then retreated back to her own, wondering what kind of dream could frighten Knuckles so much.

It was morning, but still dark, as a lone, cloaked creature made his way through the dense forest area of the Floating Island. He finally found a clearing, one that he had made some time ago for this day. When he reached the clearing, he removed his hood to reveal the face of a yellow echidna. His fur was dull, though, as if shrouded in darkness his whole life. His eyes seemed bloodshot, and the tiny pupils made the creature look like he was on the brink of insanity. He then removed from his robe a very old looking book. On the cover, it read, “Librarius Ex Horadrim.” He opened it to a marked page, and began to read in languages not spoken for centuries. The, the ground began to shake…

The Lord of Terror was trapped in the Dark Abyss for many years now. Now, something began to happen. A portal opened, and Diablo took this chance to finally escape his dark prison.

The cloaked echidna struggled to regain his foothold, and continued reading from the book. As he finished the final passage of the spell, he was now facing the spirit of Diablo, himself. The small creature quickly bowed before his new master. “Where is my new body, mortal?” the demon demanded.
“I have yet to attain one, sir. I am to weak to obtain a strong enough one,” the little being trembled.
“Then use my minions to attain one!” the spirit yelled, causing the echidna to fall over. The Dark Lord then raised his hands in the air, and his Oblivian Knights arose from the ground. ‘Strange, they look like the skeletons of 8 foot tall overlanders,’ the echidna thought. And that’s precisely what they were. They were all wearing intimidating armor, and all had both hands glowing of select colors (orange, green, blue, and purple). These were Diablo’s undead mages, and were supposedly his deadliest minions of all. Out of all of them, one in particular stood out. Unlike the others’, this one’s armor and bones were black and blue instead of tan and white. He also had an unusual aura underneath him, one that looked like a shifting vortex of fire. A few seconds after they were raised, all the others got the same aura.
“This is now your army. Lord de Seis will be second in command, you being in first,” Diablo informed the frightened creature. The echidna then said, “Follow me, army!” and as soon as he started walking, the countless skeletons were following. ‘I think that the Guardian would make an excellent vessel for Diablo,’ the corrupt creature thought, ‘but, I think I’ll have a little fun first…’
