Note: the Oblivian Knights have many powers at their disposal. They can shoot fire, cold, poison, and magic energy balls. They can also cast Bone Spirit, which is a guided spectre that does massive damage. Their most dangerous attribute is their ability to cast curses. The following curses can be casted, and I think they’re self explanatory; Amplify Damage, Weaken, Iron Maiden, Life Tap, Decrepify, and Lower Resist.


               DEATH SPREADS


           The lone echidna, who now had control of Diablo’s army, decided to take them for a test drive before retrieving the Guardian. He then found his first “playground”: Echidnaopolis. “Those little creatures down there have no idea what terror is about to be released upon them,” the corrupted one laughed, and then he gave the order to attack.

          The Chaotix were enjoying a relatively peaceful day, when they felt the ground shake beneath them. Mighty, turned to where some rumbling noises were coming from, but couldn’t see anything.
“I’ll take a look,” said Charmy, as he flew up to get a better view. ‘Kind of looks like a flood,’ he thought, but then was able to see it more clearly. “We’re under attack!” he yelled to the others, coming down to the ground.
“How many of them?” asked an annoyed Vector.
“Too many…”

          The horde of skeletons now reached the populated area of Echidnaopolis, and with that, the deaths began. Inhabitants were dying by the second, as the Oblivian Knights destroyed and killed everything that moved. Those who could manage to fight back did little to prevent their fate. Then, some began using weapons on the creatures, but only managed to take out a few before they, too, were killed. Strange, how the ones that fended them off with sticks and pieces of wood lasted longer than those who just shot at them.

          The yellow echidna watched in delight as the terror and panic spread, but then felt a hand on his shoulder.
“Remember me, Sazabi?” The echidna, who’s name is now revealed to be Sazabi, turned around to face a certain blue hedgehog.
“Sonic! What are you doing here!?” Sazabi demanded. Sonic showed no sign of his usual amusement.
“I remembered what you said all those years ago. How you’d raise some ancient tyrant, or something. Looks like you succeeded before I got here.” Sazabi’s look of worry then turned to a smirk, as he pulled out a club from his cloak and hit Sonic right on the head.
“Forget the Guardian. This body will do just fine,” he said as he dragged the unconscious body of Sonic back towards the clearing.

          The Chaotix were now caught against the battle taking place. It didn’t take long for Charmy and Vector to be out of the picture (not dead, yet…), and Mighty and Espio having to fend off the countless skeletons. However, reinforcements soon arrived, as EST vehicles landed in front of the horde, and out came Knuckles, Julie-su, and the others members of the EST. Then the real fighting began…

          Sonic woke up, and found himself chained to the ground, unable to move. He looked around, but there was no sign of Sazabi. The trees around him began to rustle. ‘Now what?’ he thought. Then, he nearly jumped out of his quills when a glowing face appeared before him. Without a word, it dove into Sonic’s chest, and pain was all he knew. He struggled and screamed, but the pain wouldn’t go away. It felt like something was eating away at his mind. Then, it stopped. The chains unlocked themselves, and he was free. He then thought, ‘The battle!’

          Knuckles and the group were holding against the horde, but they just kept coming. Then, a familiar blue blur sped through the mass of undead minions, knocking them flat. “Sonic! What are you doing here?” Knuckles demanded.
“What, not glad to see me?” he said with a smirk.
“Well, I guess we could use the help,” the red echidna admitted. “You have any idea what these things are?”
“Trouble,” was all he said before spinning into the horde, smashing and cutting into the skeletons. Then, he stopped, as the pain returned. He held his head, and was brought to his knees by the pain. He began to glow an eerie red, and what remained of the Oblivian Knights collapsed, all but Lord de Seis. Knuckles took this opportunity of Seis’s confusion to attack, head on. However, he was faster than the echidna, and could dodge most of his attacks. But, one huge blow slowed the mage, and Knuckles beat him relentlessly until the finally collapsed in an explosion of fire. The Guardian stood up to survey the damage. ‘So many lives lost…’ he thought, then remembered. “Get as many medical units in here as we can!” he yelled, and Remington went to do so.

          The death toll was catastrophic. 327 dead or missing, and 256 injured. Charmy and Vector were among those injured, but they were just barely saved from death. Knuckles felt that he had failed the citizens of Echidnaopolis that day. He knew that he should be thanking Sonic for showing up when he did, but he was too depressed to do that right now. Meanwhile, Mighty and Espio were congratulating Sonic for his victory against the horde. The pain had once again subsided, and Sonic couldn’t explain what it was. When Espio asked Sonic what he was doing when his eyes turned read, he merely replied, “Huh?”
“You mean you don’t remember?” Espio asked.
“No, I just remember spinning into those skeleton things, and then they’re all down. That’s all I can remember,” Sonic said, neglecting to mention the ordeal with Sazabi. Sonic’s thoughts were interrupted by a very loud noise.
“SONIC!” a feminine voice screamed.
‘Oh no,’ he thought, as he knew who that high pitched, annoying voice was…
