"So you want to fight me?" Knuckles said "Well, don't say I didn't warn you when I kick your butt into next week for trying to take over the Floating Island!"

"I'm already going to take over this island for my grandfather." Des cackled "My team is about to take these "Chaotix" out of commission... PERMENANTLY! Take a look."

4 monitors came on, each showing a different part of the ship. Mighty and Vector in DJ's hands, about to be crushed, Espio not being able to do anything because of the invisibility-proof traps, Julie-su in the hands of Kandas' mobile suit, and Ray and Charmy lying unconcious beside Vortex. Knuckles took one look at Julie-su and what was happening to her, and he rushed Desmond.

"No one, and I mean NO ONE hurts Julie-su OR my friends!" he yelled, fist outwards.

Desmond dodged the blow, and then hit Knuckles in the back with his claw. Knuckles just turned around and swung. Des caught Knux's hand, and flipped him over on his back. Knux tried to trip Des, who lept over the kick, and grabbed Knuckles with his claw, and threw him right into the ceiling. Knuckles used his glide to land safely. He didn't even seem to be affected by Desmond's attacks. He was ready, and unleashed his Heat Seeker Knuckle Attack on Des. But he lept over Knux and grabbed him with his claw, and sent a wave of energy into Knuckles' body. Knuckles yelled out in pain, and then Des tossed him into the wall. Des then sent a blast, and it hit Knuckles. He was knocked over. Des fired again, sending him backfirst into the wall. Then, Des picked Knuckles up by the neck.

"Pathetic." Des smiled "This is supposed to be the guardian of the Floating Island? Well then, he's not much of a guardian if he can't beat me. Now, you die, my friend. Hahahaha!

Meanwhile...
Espio looked at the traps again. There seemed no way to get past them. There had to be some way. Suddenly, he remembered he had a shiny pebble he had found at Lake Nessie. He took it from his glove, and gave it a good toss. It fell about almost the whole way down the corridor. It landed with a plunk, and all the traps went off at once all the way to the pebble. Espio watched carefully, looking for spaces in between each trap, and then took off, stuck onto the wall, and went in between the traps, each activating anyway, because he was making slight sounds and wasn't invisible. Finally, he got to the place the pebble had fallen. Just as he was about to pick up the pieces, a sweeperbot swept the dust away, and then went through a small matinence door. Espio smiled, and then dropped some dirt from his glove onto the floor. The robot came again, and Espio rushed through the door it had come from. He didn't even need to be invisible. So, he began to crawl through.

Meanwhile...
DJ began to squeeze Mighty and Vector harder, both struggling but to no avail.

"I guess this is it, bud." Vector sighed "It was nice knowing you, Mighty."

"Yeah, Vector." Mighty said "It's goodbye for us, buddy. It was nice knowing you, too, Vector."

"No more music for you." DJ said "I'm the commander of cool now. After you die, croc, I'm taking your headset if it doesn't get destroyed. And you, my shelled pal, just goes to show ya that there's always someone stronger and faster than you. You may say goodnight now. Hahaha!"

Suddenly, there was a small beep. Then, a louder beep. Then the beeping got faster. Vector and Mighy looked at DJ, who seemed to have a worried look on his face. Suddenly, the pressure on them both began to decrease, as did DJ's hands.

"No!" DJ cried out "Not now! Not when I was about to accomplish my mission! This.... ssssuuuuuckssss!"

With that, DJ returned to normal Mobian size. Vector amd Mighy were free of the dino's grip.

"I can still destroy you in my normal size!" DJ laughed, and began to kick Mighy and Vector furiously with his metal feet. He then did a backflip, and swatted Vector with his tail. The tail went straight for Mighty, who blocked the blow with his shell. Mighty then turned around and swung.

"Uh-oh." DJ said, before getting the wind knocked out of him and across the deck about 6 feet or so. Mighy picked Vector up and tossed him at DJ. As soon as Vector was very close, he unleashed a fast flurry of punches all over DJ, and then kicked him in the gut, then swatted him with his own tail. DJ was beginning to wobble. But he ran at them again, only to get uppercutted by a wating Mighty, the force of the blow throwing him 20 feet backwards into the incline he had used to elbow Mighty and Vector when he was big. He let out a big groan, and then fell unconcious. Mighy and Vector high-fived.

"So much for being commander of cool, fellow reptile." Vector said.

"And I was stronger than him in one point." Mighty said "Personal strength! Boo-yah!"

They came too the door Des had used, and Mighty promptly tore the doors apart. They lept inside.

Meanwhile...
Vortex looked at Charmy and Ray. Although Desmond had ordered him to finish them off, killing them while they were unconcious just wasn't right, as was killing them at all for that matter. Vortex sighed and began to think.

What has that eggman done to you, brother? he thought You were so kind and gentle when we were kids. And this family of his makes it even worse. He had a grreat family. It was destiny that my father stole you from that Legion cartel, but destiny can change, and I guess Eggman was the change. Now, he's back with his real family and they seem just as bad as the one who took our family... the same one Desmond calls "Lord and Master Robotnik". I should've told Desmond it was Eggman who destroyed the Vile Vultures Biker Club and its members when I had the chance. But Desmond will have to figure it out for himself. But I will not destroy any lives, not even the "enemy".

Suddenly, there was a whooshing sound as both Charmy and Ray took flight again, and straight at Vortex. They were ready to attack. Vortex lept over them. They rushed again, and Vortex just dodged again. Suddenly, Charmy went to real size and grabbed ahold of Vortex.

"Get off!" Vortex yelled, trying to shake Charmy off.

"Yeah, right!" Ray said, and rushed Vortex. Suddenly, Charmy came off as Vortex took flight. Ray wasn't quick enough and hit Charmy instead, who fell off the deck and into the air.

"NOOOOOO!" both Ray and Vortex yelled.

Suddenly, Vortex dove right off the ship and down at Charmy, who he promptly grabbed and flew back to the deck and put Charmy down.

"Mi-mister, you saved him!" Ray said "B-but why?"

"Because if I didn't he would've plunged to his death!" Vortex said, as Charmy came to.

"He saved me?" Charmy said "Wow."

"H-h-he s-sh-sure diiiiid." Ray said, and suddenly... He began to speak again "What? Is it possible?" he said "Am I not stuttering? I'm not! I can speak normally! After all this time! Hooray!"

"Mister, why didn't you just let me die?" Charmy asked.

"I just couldn't take either of your lives, even commanded to." Vortex replied "It's part of the Vile Vulture code. Once, Desmond was one of us, too, but Eggman changed him."

"Eggman?!" both Charmy and Ray said.

"Yes." Vortex replied "He is responsible for this ship, those robots, my dark attire, and this entire mess. If he had never gotten us, we would've never come here! But my brother and Robotnik and the Legion are responsible for the viciousness of this attack, for Robotnik darkened him, and the Dark Legion made him attack the island. All we were here for was a relaxing vacation, until the Legion came into it. Come with me, I'll help you find your leader before my brother destroys him. This way."

Charmy and Ray looked at each other, and then nodded and followed.

Meanwhile...
"Now is your time to DIE!" Kandas laughed, tightening the mech's grip on Julie-su.

"Says... you..." Julie sighed, but she knew she would be crushed if she didn't think of something fast and then, she thought of something she had never thought of before. What was the purpose of that metallic dreadlock she had? Neither Kragok nor Kommissar had told her, of course that was to be expected. And she had forgotten to ask Simon or Floren-ca what it was for. She doubted ANYONE knew, even that one hedgehog legionnaire, who had been her friend when she was younger. She concentrated, forgetting about the hand crushing her. Suddenly, her metal dread flashed brightly, and extended and punctured the arm of the mech, making it release her. She knew her blasts had no effect, so she tried using her dreadlock again, and it flew at the mech, stabbing holes in the hinges and other things that kept it together. Kandas snarled, and fired the cannon, the force of the blast making the mech fall apart. Julie-su dodged the blast and fired her blaster. The force of the hit sent the cockpit rolling. It hit an incline, and Kandas was knocked out.

"Yeah!" Julie cheered.

Suddenly, there was a humming as the door the mech had come from opened again. Out emerged Mighty and Vector. Then, a vent cover fell, and out popped Espio. And then in flew Ray, Charmy, and Vortex.

"What's HE doing here?!" Vector snarled.

"Relax, Vector!" Charmy said "He's actually willing to help us! He was just being that way to please his brother. And, besides he knows where Knux is!"

"Yes." Vortex said "Come with me, and I'll take you to a secret entrance. You're on your own from there, though. I cannot let Desmond know I helped you. And Mr. Armadillo, I did the same for your friend, Sonic, just ask him."

"If you're cool with Sonic, you're cool with me." Mighty said "I trust him. Let's go."

And so, the Chaotix followed Vortex.

Meanwhile...
Desmond dropped Knuckles on the floor once he was unconcious.

"Grandfather Dimitri wants him alive!" he said "I would rather just kill him, but from what grandfather said, his battle is personal, as mine is business. But, he said to do with the Chaotoix as I wished, so I think I'll destroy them! My team has probably already done the job, so no work on my part! Hahahaha!"

Knuckles groaned, and clenched his fists tightly. He wasn't out yet. He remembered what his father had told him: If he concentrated hard enough, he might be able to use a small amount of his dormant chaos energy for a tough time. NOW was that time. he began to go deep inside his mind, trying to get to that inner emerald. Suddenly, there was a small twinkle of green in blackness. It glowed brighter as he got closer, until he could see its source... a chaos emerald! He grasped it, and his whole mind was flooded with green. Desmond turned around to see what was going on, and he was blinded by a green flash of light. Once it was gone, Knuckles had a dim green aura around him, and was about an inch off the floor. His bruises and burns were healed within a matter of seconds. Then, He was straight up, but floating a few inches above the floor, so he wasn't standing up really. Then, the aura disappeared and Knux landed.

"What's this?!" Des said "Haven't had enough punishment? Well, I'll give you more!"

Desmond fired, but Knuckles dodged it, and quickly answered with a punch. Des wasn't fast enough, and got hit. He answerd by slashing his claw at Knux and missed by inches. Another punch from Knux, but Des grabbed this one. He was ready to toss Knuckles, but got tossed himself. Des tried his ultimate attack. He shot the claw off like a rocket, and grabbed Knuckles and brought him back, and then powered up, and sent a shock. Knuckles concentrated and sent the energy right back to the claw. There was an explosion, knocking both combatants backwards. Knuckles was dazed, and Desmond just got back up. He prepared to fire another shot, but when he raised his arm, he shrieked.

"My claw!" he yelled "Look what you've done to my beautiful claw!"

The energy Knuckles had sent back had made Des' claw explode, and the explosion is what threw them back. It was torn to shreds, wires showing and sparking. He ran at Knuckles, elbow ready. Knuckles uppercutted him, so hard in fact, that it knocked Des' glasses off. They fell to the floor and shattered. Des' vision was blurred, and didn't see that last knockout punch coming. It slammed him onto the foor. Suddenly, there was a loud banging on the door. it suddenly smashed open, and it revealed Mighty, with the other Chaotix behind him.

"Let's get out of here, Knux!" Vector yelled.

"What about commander clod?" Knuckles said.

"Leave him!" Vector said "We beat him, or should I say YOU beat him."

Suddenly, Des got back up.

"Go on, get outta here." he said "You beat me fair and square. Go on. We'll meet again soon, and I hope you and your friends are just as much of a challenge next time. Get!"

"Alright, til next time, Desmond." Knuckles said "Come on guys, let's get outta here!"

Knuckles went through the door and he and the Chaotix went outside from the secret doorway. Knuckles flew down with Julie-su holding onto him. Ray picked up Mighty. Charmy went off by himself. Vector and Espio wonderd how they would get off of the ship. Suddenly, Vortex flew past, and picked them up. Once they were all on the ground, Vortex flew back to the ship.

"Good riddance to bad rubbish." Knuckles said.

"We'll be seeing them again for sure." Julie-su said "And the next time we see them, it'll be too soon, and they'll have something worse in store for us, that nephew of mine."

"Well, until that time..." Knuckles said "Let's go help the EST fix the place up."

The Chaotix followed and that was that... for the time being.

Meanwhile...
"WHAT?!" Dimitri yelled over the comlink "What do you mean, defeated?! Failure! Can no one beat that brat of a nephew of mine?! Failure, failure, failure! None of my decendants are competent enough to do the job! It's time to get someone with NONE of my blood. Anyway, you tried your best, boy. This was only your first failure, and I can forgive that. Besides, it wasn't all a failure. Thanks to the legion, I freed the rest of our troops and now are back to a full roster. Good try, m'boy!"

Next, Kommissar came onscreen.

"You tried your best, son." she said "I'm glad that I got to see you after so long. So, are you returning to base, son?"

"Not at the moment, mother." Des answered "I have to go back to Robotropolis and Master Robotnik. I will see you again, mother. Love ya. Desmond out."

"Love ya, too." she said, and then cut off the link.

And so, Desmond and Team Punkstar and their ship went back to Robotropolis. The end of the Punkstar Story has come, but the Punkstar saga had only reached a small turn. Desmond would be back to Angel Island one day soon.
