EVIL INTENTIONS
Part 2: Sky High

The Chaotix looked at the new enemies again. They were definitly serious and definitely dangerous. They had an evil, forboding look to them, especially the dark vulture in the back. And if they were working with the DL, they would be very challenging to defeat. Suddenly, Desmond fired a large burst of energy from his claw. The Chaotix dodged, and saw it destroy a car. Kandas followed with a similar shot from the gauntlet on her arm, this blast hitting Mighty's shell, knocking him down. Then, DJ, quick as lightning, ran down and bounded around, before stomping at Espio, who quickly went invisible and got out of the way.

"Let's take this guy!" Mighy said, runing at DJ along with Espio. DJ's metallic feet kicked them both for a loop, and backwards. But Mighy was barely dazed and ran at DJ again, his arms spinning. There was a small flash from DJ's eyes and suddenly, he made himself much bigger, and tossed Mighty into a trash can. Espio suddenly appeared from nowhere and began punching DJ wildly. They were connecting, but definitely not affecting. Espio was suddenly grabbed by DJ's tail, and tossed out of the way. DJ returned to normal size and lept back to the cruiser. Knuckles, Ray, and Charmy nodded, and went into flight. Vortex went into flight, too, and swiftly flew at the three, and knocked them out of the sky with a flurry of punches, and very good punches, too. Some sort of martial art, he thought. He flew back to the ship. Suddenly, everyone noticed Des' girlfriend had gone. Suddenly, Knuckles saw her out the corner of his eye, and pushed the Chaotix out of the way just in time before she sent a flurry of bullets from a pair of uzis she had gone off to get.

"Darn, out of bullets." she sighed, blowing out the smoke from her weapons.

"This is really fun, Sargeant Pepper, but I'd rather just get this over with." Knuckles joked.

"Har-har." Des said with extreme sarcasm "I guess we'll finish this since you're so bored."

Des and his team backed away, and Des lifted his claw, and there was a humming noise.

"Everyone, jump!" Knux yelled.

Everyone did just that, and jumped away just in time before a giant laser beam came from the front of the ship, destroying anything in its path.

"Now that was a big mistake, buddy!" Knuckles yelled "Chaotix, attack!"

They all ran onto the ship, and onto the giant deck. Des, Kandas, and Tiarana fired a few shots, the Chaotix dodging in their own ways.

"You want firepower?!" Julie-su cried out "Here!"

Julie sent a few blasts their way, but Kandas blocked the shots with her arm gauntlet and sent some blasts back. Julie-su lept out of the way, still firing, but Kandas was expertly blocking the blasts. Des' claw began to glow brightly, and he unleashed a huge yellow spark, which knocked the Chaotix over. Knuckles suddenly lept into the air, and flew straight at Desmond, but Vortex knocked him from the sky. Ray took flight along with Charmy towards the flying vulture. Vortex flew off, and they chased behind.

"And that's our cue to leave." Des said, and he, Kandas, and Tiarana ran off, DJ growing again and blocking the path. Mighty lept into the air and tackled the dino, and the others ran off towards the others. Espio went invisible and after Tiarana, so she wouldn't be able to see him and shoot him. Julie went after Kandas, cause she felt the challenge to battle someone with such a great weapon. Suddenly, Vector was grabbed by DJ and got tossed into Mighty. As for Knux, it was time to teach this bad relative some manners. Des jumped onto an elevator, which took him inside, and it closed before Knux could jump in, too. Knuckles pounded on the door. Suddenly, there was a roaring sound, and the ship took flight. Knuckles sighed.

"There's gotta be another way into the base." he said "Maybe not on the deck, but somwhere else on the ship?"

With that, Knuckles took flight and explored the ship, looking everywhere until he came to the very back of the ship by the rocket boosters. There was a small matanence shaft. Knuckles flew in. It was a very small shaft, so he had to crawl through it. Finally, he came to a grating. He pulled it out and dropped onto the floor. He was in a long hallway.

"I guess going forward would be the best action." Knux said "Seems like an easy task."

Knuckles began to run down the hallway, being cautious just in case of traps. He finally came to another doorway. He tried pushing and pulling. Nothing. He tried pounding the door. No effect.

"How am I supposed to get this door open?" he said, and suddenly saw a button. He pressed it. There was a click, and suddenly, the floor opened up from under him. It was a trap! Knuckles fell, and the floor closed back up before he could glide back up. Knuckles grabbed onto the wall. He looked down, and saw he had made a wise choice. There was a large bed of spikes under him. He went forward until he was clear of the spikes and dropped down onto the floor. The hallway he was in now was filled with obstacles.

"So much for that being the easy way." he sighed.

Meanwhile...
Ray and Charmy were beginning to catch up to Vortex, who landed on the obnservation deck. They landed there, too.

"Kids, I really don't think it would be wise to fight me." Vortex said.

"W-we gotta." Ray said "W-we are s-supposed to p-protect Echidnaopolis, a-and y-you puh-put a lot of i-innocent muh-mobians in d-duh-danger."

"YEAH!" Charmy yelled, flying at Vortex, stinger out and ready. Ray followed suit, and they attacked. Vortex swatted Charmy out of the air, and jump-kicked Ray, and turned a full circle, and kicked Charmy as he attacked again. He then dove and knocked them over. He landed again.

"Now, see what happened?" Vortex said "You fought and got hurt. You kids should be more careful."

Meanwhile...
Vector got tossed again into Mighty by the now very large DJ. Then, they got swatted by his tail. He lept straight into the air, ready to crush them. Mighty lept up, and kicked DJ with both of his feet. DJ flew up, and quickly flipped and landed on his feet. Vector lept at DJ, punching as hard and quickly as he could, to no avail. Vector had to use another weapon... flattery.

"That's a nice set of headphones you got there." Vector said "They look even cooler than mine."

"You really think so?" DJ said.

"Yeah, I really think.... NOT!!!" Vector cried out, distracting DJ, and allowing Mighty to tackle him. Mighty sent DJ reeling. But DJ quickly planted his feet on an incline, and came at them, elbow ready. DJ yelled as he flew towards them.

"We're screwed." Vector said.

Meanwhile...
Julie-su and Kandas ran across the deck, Kandas blocking Julie's shots, and Julie dodging Kandas'. Finally, they came to the end of the deck. Kandas' gauntlet was beginning to glow. Suddenly, she swished her arm, tossing a huge, purple ball of energy. Julie lept straight over it, and fired her now powered-up blaster. A large pink flame flew straight at the arm gauntlet, and when it struck, Kandas was thrown back. Kandas got up, and raised her arm again. The gauntlet broke apart.

"My beautiful weapon!!!" Kandas squawked "You'll pay!"

Kandas pulled a knife from her belt and ran at Julie, and threw her arm down. Julie grabbed Kandas' arm, the tip of the knife almost to her eye. They began to struggle, and then...
Julie kneed Kandas in the stomach. She then whacked the knife from Kandas' hand, and then kicked Kandas in the face, knocking her backwards. Kandas got up, and felt her mouth. She spat out a tooth.

"My toof!" Kandas yelled "You knocked out my toof! You'll PAY!!! DIIIEEEE!!!!"

Kandas ran at Julie, fists flying. Julie dodged and blocked, and then kicked Kandas in the chest, knocking her down.

"You tough chicks just don't learn." Julie laughed "Not that I'm not tough or anything."

Suddenly, Kandas tripped Julie, and ran to the middle of the deck's end, and lept into a pit. There was a creaking and rumbling, and suddenly, the deck began to open. Kandas lept from the hole, but not by herself, but inside a huge mobile suit. It landed with a crash. Its long arms almost reached the ground. It had almost no legs, but had huge feet. There was a click as a cannon appeared over its right shoulder. It powered up, and sent a giant burst of energy. Julie jumped, and fired several shots. They bounced off, and then Kandas rocketed at Julie, and gave her a good punch. Julie was sent flying.

"Now then." Kandas smirked "Let's see how you can try and top this."

Kandas powered up the cannon.

Meanwhile...
Tiarana believed she was in the clear, not knowing that an invisible Espio was following her, but that was about to change. Espio knocked over something.

"Oops." he whispered.

Tiarana began firing wildly. Holes were punctured in the walls and floor. Espio was invisible, and stuck high enough not to be hit. Tiarana turned around and continued on her way. Espio followed, but...

The chameleon! Tiarana said to herself He's tailing me! He'll follow me back to Dessie's unless....

She got a wicked smirk on her face, and walked to a door, and into it, too. Espio followed. The room was dark, but when Espio, still invisible, walked about a few paces, the lights came on very quickly.

"I think you should quit being invisible, friend." Tiarana said "This place is filled with heat and sound sensors. Even the lightest and quietest tiptoe can be heard by 'em. Can't see, but sure can hear you and feel your heat. Ta-ta-hahahahahahaha!"

"Just great." Espio sighed.

Meanwhile...
Knuckles ran and jumped and flew past, over, and away from the various traps down the corridor. Finally, he made it to the end of the battery, and to an elevator door. He went in, and up. The doors opened to a grand hall, red carpeting on the floor, pictures of various types, but mostly paintings of vultures. Almost all of them looked like royal portraits. There was a small photograph in a frame. Knuckles picked it up, and he saw 2 mobians. One was a young vulture, dressed in black, with a very calm and happy smile. And the second Mobian... a young, probably only ten or so echidna. he seemed as happy as the vulture in the picture, his eyes hidden in coke-bottle glasses. Knuckles looked at the back, and it said "Vortex and Desmond, ages 13 and 10." Knuckles couldn't believe it. The same madman who was commanding the ship was so happy in this picture, but it wasn't Des he was thinking of. It was Vortex. Knuckles could tell he kept to himself, gloomy expression and dark clothes. Something horrible must've happened to him. He sighed, and then entered the door. It slammed shut behind him. Knuckles was in a 60 by 60 foot room. A figure was at the end, and it turned around.... Desmond!

"You ARE as good as they say." Des chuckled "Such spunk! I never thought you'd be able to make it, but you did. But now the time has come for you to surrender the island to The Great Dimitri!"

"I'm willing to die for the island, pal." Knuckles said "But I don't die without a FIGHT!"

"You want to fight?!" Des said "Then we FIGHT!"
