JW brings about revelations to change Knuckles' life.

Part 3: Revelation Revolution

Knuckles shut his eyes. This was the end of him, he thought. He'd be headless within a second.
JW held the scythe, ready to swing and sever. But suddenly, something flashed through his mind. A female echidna walking down a corridor, happily smiling. Then, the equipment... falling on top of her. JW began to shake a bit. His content face was now one of nervousness.
"Leave us." he commanded "Go back to base... i don't want you all to see this.... just his mother. Go. I'll be along soon. Now, go on, get out of here."
The legionnaires gave confused looks at him, and then shrugged and a corridor opened. They walked out. Once they were all gone, the doors slammed back together.
JW swung the scythe. It landed just inches from Knuckles' head.
"Get up." JW commanded.
Knuckles did not understand. This legionnaire could've just chopped off his head and have been done with it. But there was something in the boy's voice... something fearful.
"Why didn't you just kill me?" Knuckles scoffed.
"Because.... I couldn't." JW sighed, pulling his scythe from the floor and back into its holdster. "I have important stuff to say....."
JW quickly turned around and a chair popped up in the middle of the room. He walked to it, and sat down. Then, he pressed a button on the chair, making 2 more chairs pop up.
"Now, SIT DOWN." JW said.
Knuckles stood up, and went to a chair. His mother in the other one. JW pressed another button, releasing Lara's handcuffs.
"Now then." JW said "I was going to kill you, but I just couldnt. Something sparked in the back of my mind as I was about to swing. I shoulda just decapped you, but I just couldnt.... stomach it. I've never killed anyone. Orders are orders, but I just couldn't obey this one. I don't know why i just disobeyed, but I have."
Knuckles gave JW a strange look. This was a ruthless Legion general. But he seemed.... different.
"Look...." Knux said "Can we just get on with this? Why did you bring me here? Why did you kidnap my mother?"
"I kidnapped your mother because it was a plan never even brought up to trap you." JW said "It was my idea. But, i had no plans on letting YOU live. It just happened. I was just supposed to kill you and bring your head to Dimitri on a platter. Just like he wants all his generals to do, but they've failed. So, it was my turn. But, i never expected to become a general. It just.... happened."
"There must be a reason for you not killing me." Knuckles said "What sparked in the back of your head? You said something sparked. What was it?"
"It was......" JW sighed "......the death of Mari-su. When i was very little, I witnessed it happen. And it was no accident......"
"Julie's mother?!" Knuckles said "Julie told me what Simon told her at the old Legion base. What do you know about her death? And what was that about no accident?"
"I looked up when the equipment fell." JW said "There was this dim red glow.... most likely from someone's eye. This person must have had a grudge with Mari, because she was married to some guy or other..... forget his name, just know he was a grandmaster. Whoever it was must've disapproved.... but I was young then. I have no idea who could've done it."
Knuckles could only say one word..... "KRAGOK." Knuckles clenched his fist. Kragok was the only one heartless and cold enough to do something like that.... and he and his sister hated Mari and Julie. And the red glow...... his robot eye.
"Kragok?!" JW said "He did this?! It figures, I never liked the guy. A real @$$hole, i must say. He wasn't qualified to do the job, I knew myself. And thar must mean... Kragok got rid of the other grandmaster and took his place. But, what was this grudge?"
"He had a wife before Mari." Knuckles explained "She died when their children were very young. those children..... were Kragok and Kommissar. He remarried to Mari-su. The twins didn't like that. And when Julie was born.... it just made them even more jealous. So, they killed off Mari to get her out of their lives, and then..... their father for being stupid enough to 'betray' them. That father..... was Grandmaster of the time..... Grandmaster Luger."
"Pure cold-blooded patricide." JW snarled "I think I'll hurl. That is just so sick."
"Yeah, well, Kragok's gone now." Knuckles said "Good riddance...... so now what, general?" Knuckles said.
"It is time for you to get out of here." JW said "I'll make it look like you beat me. And..... I'll put this fortress under self-destruct to make it more believable. I'll say you destroyed it."
Just as knuckles and Lara were about to leave....
"Will we cross paths again?" Knuckles asked.
"Definitely." JW said, and then his statement changed to a far more serious one, and his voice a more serious tone..... "But next time, guardian, I will show no mercy to you. Next time we meet, I'm going to kill you for real. Now leave before I change my mind and kill you both....."
Knuckles then said...... "Yeah, well, next time, we'll see." With that, Knuckles and his mother exited the escape door. JW then pressed another button..... and then teleported out of the fortress.

Knuckles and his mother began to run faster when a loud explosion occured, and the fortress began to cave in. He lept through the door just as it was falling in. He and his mother ran as fast as they could as the sound of explosions were behind them. When they were finally about 500 feet away, they turnd around and watched as a huge explosion blew a hole in the side of the volcano, and as smaller explosions caved in the volcano. When the dust cleared, there was quite a bit of smoke. But the explosions ceased. Suddenly, there was a small commotion as the Chaotix appeared.
"Whoa, Knux, did you see THAT?!" Vector yelled.
"Nice way to demolish a base, Knux." Espio smiled.
"You must've kicked some serious @$$ in there!" Mighty said.
"Actually, Mighty...." Knuckles said "The guy behind this was the one. He almost got rid of me. But, he coulda just chopped off my head..... But he didn't. But when we left, he warned me that next time, I won't be so lucky...... And Julie.... he said something about your mother.... Kragok made that accident happen. He killed your dad as well.... He witnessed your mom's demise."
Julie sighed. "I shoulda known it was Kragok. So, who was this echidna?"
"He wasn't an echidna, Jules." Knux said "He was a hedgehog....."
"Jason?!" she said "Since when was he a general?! Last time I checked, he was just another lowly trooper. Everyone doubted he would amount to anything. Guess they were wrong. This makes another general to face.... and JW, well, he's WORSE than Xenin. You were lucky he didn't tear you to shreds with his bare hands. He's taught in the same martial arts as Xenin... but since he's a hedgehog, he's a lot more agile than an echidna. And tropers can only use normal combat.... the generals can use all of their teachings to their fullest....."
"Yeah, I noticed." Knux said, suddenly wincing in pain. He took his hand off his side. He was bleeding... profusely. Julie felt his sides.
"Looks like a few cracked ribs." Julie said "Let's get you to a doctor. Knucles suddenly fell due to his blood loss. Suddenly, an ambulance came... the Chaotix had called it in advance. When it left, suddenly a figure appeared. It was JW. "Hmm......" he said "I may have killed him anyway. Dimitri will be very pleased. Even if he lives, I'll have been the first to seriosly injure the guardian. Just wish it didn't have to go that way.... I hope he's going to be alright....." With that, he teleported back to base.

At the hospital
"He's going to be fine." the nurse said "You brought him just in time. He'll take about a week or so to heal because of his unique powers. Trust me, if he was normal, he'd be dead.... or comatose. And it would take him several months to heal......"
"Thank you doctor." Lara sighed.

Dark Legion Base
"I failed you Great Dimitri." JW said, kneeling before Dimitri "I have failed you....."
Xenin got a smug smile on his face. He's goona get it for sure! he thought.
"You may have failed your mission, but I am still very pleased with you." Dimitri smirked "You badly damaged the guardian. He did not die, unfortunately. Inside sources say he's going to be bedridden for a week. And I know next time, you'll get rid of him.... FOR GOOD. You may go now."
With that, JW walked away to his new general's quarters.
Xenin snarled. "Stupid little geek. You'll pay for my humiliation. I promise."
"What was that?" Dimitri asked.
"Nothing, just thinking." Xenin said "What next?"
"Sources may have stumbled onto an old ledgend that will help us get rid of the guardian once and for all." Dimitri said "Something to do with... 'Nature Emeralds'. I just need to study and translate the ledgends some more before doing anything. But, if it all goes smoothly, we should be able to start around the annual anniversiary parade next month." With that, Dimitri turned back to his quarters.

-Notes from the author-
After about a week, Knuckles is back to his old, normal self. I made the comment about the Nature Emeralds to fit this into the current story in the AI RPG, so basically, JW's saga continues there.
