Title: Forgotten Tribe © Author: Guardian Julaya-Lu Quote of the fan-fic: “…I left the tribe not wanting to believe that my life would have no meaning to it and no one would know who I was. And now I’m returning to speak, to my father, the one echidna I never wanted to see again…” Sabre, chapter 2, Part of the tribe Prologue: journey to the past On nights like these, where the warm breeze blew through his window, Sabre spent his nights thinking about Life in the Forgotten tribe…when he was a kid. About his mother about Athair and about how life has changed, from the simpler times, too now when there was no guarantee about life and death… Thunderhawk walked in silently “ Knock knock… can I come in?” “ Sure.” “What’s wrong? You look so depressed.” Thunderhawk said “ I’m going back…I need to know what happened.” “But what if you don’t get the answer you’re looking for?” “ Then I’ll come back and it won’t bother me anymore.” “All right. I can’t stop you! Good luck.” Sabre smiled and nodded and then he started is mission back to the forgotten tribe Chapter one: Times have changed Sabre stood on the edge on Mercia and the Cat country, down below he could see Athair, and the tribe of Arakkis, slowly making there way to the promise land. Albion, Ha, could there really be such a place? He thought before he started to glide to the ground. “ When we get over the ridge we’ll make camp for the night.” Athair said to the huge group behind him Sabre landed not to far behind the rest of the tribe, but caught up quickly and was unnoticed until someone looked back “ Who are you?” She asked “ I’m Sataya and you?” Sabre used is real name this time instead of its translation just to be safe “ Cyrix, Brother Athair said he had a son named Sataya, but he disappeared years ago.” Cyrix said straining to see the front of the group “ Where are you camping tonight?” Sabre asked trying to decide where to find Athair next “ Over that ridge, up there. You look a lot like brother Athair are you sure that you’re not related to him?” “ Yes, I’m sure, I’ve been told that a lot.” Sabre said with a nasty tone in his voice “ Don’t like Brother Athair?” She asked plainly “ We have our differences in opinion, over everything.” Sabre dryly to Cyrix “Oh, that’s too bad.” “ Not really…” Sabre was cut off by Athair calling for Cyrix “Cyrix what are you doing I need you up in the front!” Athair came up right next to sabre and he didn’t see him “ Yes Brother Athair.” She said softly to himSabre telepathically said to the fire ant who came immediately and teleported him out and onto one of the ridges away from the tribe “ Who were you talking to a second ago?” Athair stared to interrogate her “ Sataya.” She turned around “ Hun? He was a second a go.” “ Sabre! HE’S BACK! I KNEW HE’D COME BACK!” Athair was close to a joyous rage as he heard that is son was in the tribe “ Brother Athair? Where are you going?” Yannar asked “ To find my Son.” And Athair left in a rush “ Lead the tribe until I return Yannar, I have full faith in you.” Athair went up the hill and out of Yannar’s range of vision Chapter two: Home is where the Tribe is Sabre sat on the edge of a gorge with his legs hanging off talking to Archimedas about the Tribe “ I don’t get it.” “ What’s not to get. You panicked, and spoke to someone that you shouldn’t have.” Archimedas said sarcastically to Sabre “What’s so wrong with that?” Sabre still looked, somewhat distant as the ant spoke to him “ What if that woman told Athair about you?” Archimedas said with a chuckle “What’s so funny?” “ That you actually thought, somehow, no one would find you.” Athair came up behind Sabre and stood there listening to the conversation intently “ I just want answers! What’s so wrong with that?” Sabre put his hand out and the ant appeared on it “ What answers?” “ I can’t tell you! You wouldn’t understand.” Maybe he wants to come home? Athair thought to himself then took another step forward “ Archy, hold on a second, someone’s behind us.” Sabre whispered to Archimedas as she got ready to turn and shock who was behind him. “ Sabre? Is that you?” Athair asked his son “ Who—WOAH!” Sabre turned around and started to stand up, when he lost his balance and fell off the side of the gorge “SABRE!” Athair grabbed his sons hand “ Athair? Wha- What’s going on?” Sabre looked up at his father who grabbed him by the wrist “ Don’t look down Sabre.” Athair said; trying to fight the sinking feeling he was getting “ What? Oh my god! Archimedas get me outta here!” The ant did as he was told and Sabre landed back on the top of the gorge “ Sabre are you all right?” Athair said, Sabre nodded, still quite shocked over the near death experience “ What are you doing up here, I thought you hated highest.” Athair put his hand on his sons shoulder “ Trying to find you. I need help.” Sabre answered only because he was in shock; usually he would’ve ignored Athair completely. “ Why? It’s dangerous here, come with me I know where it’s safe.” Athair helped Sabre up and they rejoined the rest of the tribe. Chapter three: Part of the tribe “ Everyone, I would like you to meet my son, Sataya.” Athair Said to the tribe, Sabre looked over to his father, who nodded and Sabre went over to Cyrix “ I’m sorry for lying to you. It’s just I needed to keep my cover for as long as possible.” “ It’s okay, I understand.” Cyrix looked over to Yannar, who was coming over to them “ Hi, why’d you leave the tribe Sataya, brother Athair never told us.” Yannar said bluntly “ Creative differences, and opinions.” Sataya said dryly “ Over what?” Cyrix asked “ It doesn’t matter anymore.” “ Sure it does! What was it over?” Yanar said “ Someone was dying and I asked my father to go see her and he said no because he was Mitre, so I got mad and left.” “ That was stupid.” Cyrix said “ I know that now, but the Floating island needed me to be the guardian.” He said to them both as another came over “ What’s the island like?” “ Well, it’s like a rain forest, a desert, an Ice cap, a city, and field all in one with mountains and water. That’s it. It’s hard to describe.” Later that night Sataya was sitting alone with Archimedas in front of the fire, when Yannar came up from behind him “ Mind if I join you?” he asked “ No.” “ I have a question for you.” Yannar sat down on a rock “ What?” “ Why did you decide to come back.” “ I needed to talk to my father about the choice I made.” “ What choice?” “ The choice of never coming back.” Sataya was blunt “ Why?” “Well, I never thought I’d feel at home here, I left the tribe not wanting to believe that my life would have no meaning to it and no one would know who I was. And now I’m returning to speak, to my father, the one echidna I never wanted to see again about how I should’ve stayed and, and let my life go the same path as everyone else.” “ You ran away from your problems?” Yannar said “ Exactly, I…I didn’t want to accept that I couldn’t make my father go see my grandmother before she died and that I had to just act like I was okay with it. What I said didn’t matter and no matter what I did my life would be pointless and I would never be known because… No one even remembers that this tribe exists!” Sataya said staring into the fire blankly “Then to go somewhere that still doesn’t care about what you say because they don’t understand your language and you have to be followed by a translator everywhere! Just like before, still no choice in the matter!” “ I thought that guardians were respected?” Yannar said softly “ They are, but I wasn’t.” Sataya picked up a stick and tossed it into the fire “ Wow, that sounds horrible!” Yannar said softly “ Yeah,” Sataya sighed “ I’m going to talk to Athair.” Sataya got up and went over to his fathers tent as Cyrix came over and sat next to him “ Watta life! Never taken seriously just because of a language!” She sighed and looked over to where Sabre was standing. Athair was talking but somehow…what he was saying looked depressing. Athair kept speaking for another moment before Sabre lowered his head and nodded. He left a second later to Athair calling after him. “ What happened?” Cyrix called over but there was no reply. A puff white smoke could be seen on the horizon Epilogue: Return to the Island Archimedas and Sabre appeared on Lands End. The islands constant orbit meant there would be no more of this for another year or more. The ant looked up at his friend and sighed “ It’s not that he didn’t help me if that’s what you’re thinking.” Sabre replied dryly as he sat down on the edge “ Then what did happen?” “ He said that I didn’t belong down there… and I would never be a nobody if being a guardian was nothing then my family wouldn’t be trusted with the lives of everything on the island. And that if I didn’t run away so long ago then there wouldn’t be anymore guardians and the island wouldn’t be what it is today.” “ So why did you leave it things were so right?” Archimedas asked softly “ Because he said that if I stayed that I wouldn’t be accepted into the tribe and there would be a lot of hostility because of who I am.” Sabre sighed “ I’m gonna go back to Haven. Alone….” Archimedas jumped off his shoulder and to the ground “ All right.” and Archimedas stood and watched as Saber slowly walked back to the Forbidden Zone. The end
