When Robotnik tool over River City he killed Jaxson's father and as far as Jaxson is concerned, killed his mother as well. But recently Jaxson started wondering if his mother was still alive. He then decided to take his cousin Donavan and look for her. They took a boat up the river past river City and into the ocean. They have been gone for almost three months now. Jaxson has been checking in by sending e-mails to his girlfriend Kathryn back in Cypress Knee where he left Princess Stacie Leo in charge of things. Since he has been away a new freedom fighter named Comix Blade Hedgehog joined the team. Soon after he joined the team his little brother Sonix, and his sister Jami. Another development is the secret relationship between Stacie and Kevin. Well it is time to check up on Jaxson and Donavan. SURVIVORS (part one) For three months Jaxson Jaguar and his 11 year-old cousin Donavan Jaguar have been traveling north by boat to find Jaxson's mother Tonya Jaguar. The two have been stopping here and there trying to pick up leads that may lead to them finding her. But for the past few months what leads they did they have all lead to no where. But the search goes on; Jaxson has no intent on giving up now. The two are in their small motorboat just a mile off the coast. There is a dense fog settled around them. It is so dense the only way the two know where they are is by a global location computer Jaxson brought with them. It's about 7:00 a.m. and you can imagine how hungry the two are. "Jaxson when are we going to dock?" Asked Donavan who was a bit groggy and hungry. "As soon as we come in range of a dock Donny." Said Jaxson as he looked at his map and the global location computer. He then noticed that they were near a small village on the coast. Jaxson then pulled up the anchor and steered the boat into the harbor. Jaxson cruised the boat easily on into the harbor, as he did he passed a sign. Jaxson could barley see the letters but he could make out the name of the place. "Safe Harbor Bay." Read the sign. A few feet pass the sign was what seemed like a floating dock. Jaxson pulled the boat up closer to the dock and as he did he noticed that it was low tide and the air reeked of fish. As he tied the boat to the dock he heard some one walking down the metal plank that connected the regular dock with the floating dock. "Ahoy." Sounded the person. The person sounded like he was an old man with a seasoned voice. "Ahoy who's there?" Said the old man again as he pulled out a flashlight. "Excuse me sir." Answered Jaxson. "I'm I doing something wrong here?" Asked Jaxson as the man came closer. He was wearing a yellow slicker and had the smell of fish all around him. "Oh no as long as you don't intend to cause trouble." Said the old man. "You mind following me to my office and signing your boat in." Jaxson agreed and followed him into a small office at the top of the dock. As the three stepped into the office the old man turned on a light and took off his slicker. He was a medium build sealion wearing a navy blue turtleneck sweater. "So what brings you boys to Safe Harbor Bay?" Asked the old sealion as he sat in a swivel chair and handed Jaxson a clipboard and a pen. "We're here looking for someone and something to eat." Said Jaxson as he sat back in a nearby chair to fill out the form for docking his boat. "Who may I ask are you looking for? Oh may I ask your name please?" Asked the sealion. "Sure, my name is Jaxson Jaguar Mr.?" As Jaxson said his name the old sealion put his hand up to his chin and thought for a sec. "Oh yes my name is Stuart Stilwater." He said as he extended his hand across his desk to shake Jaxson's hand. "May I ask who your looking for? I may be able to help you I know most everybody in town." Said Stuart. "Well me and my cousin here are looking for a female jaguar. She would be in her mid thirties by now and about as tall as me. Her name is Tonya Jaguar." Said Jaxson as he handed Stuart back the form for the boat. "Well I think I know the person your looking for." Replied Stuart. Jaxson's eyes widened and he shot up out of his seat. "You have? Where is she?" Said Jaxson whose heart was going a mile a minute. Yes I have she lives on the other side of the harbor in a house facing the sea." Replied Stuart. "Why are you and your cousin looking for her?" Asked Stuart. "Because she is my mom now please I need directions to her house." Pleaded Jaxson. "Well I can do better then that, I can take you there my self." Said Stuart. "Thank you Mr. Stilwater." Said Jaxson. Stuart took Jaxson and Donavan to his tugboat that was docked right out in front of the office. It was about 7:35 a.m. and the fog had lifted a bit. The three boarded the boat and started out. Stuart cranked up the old boat and headed out of the harbor. The boat went around the rest of the docks and boats in the harbor. Jaxson noticed that most of them were huge fishing trolleys. He also noticed that there were four boats that seemed like warships. This gave Jaxson the idea that there was a freedom fighter group in the area. By about 8:00 a.m. the boat was pulling into a small dock that extended from a house that was half on land and the other half was on the beach being held up by stilts. The boat pulled up to the dock and as it did someone ran out to help the boat dock. The boat docked smoothly ant the three stepped off onto the dock. "Hi John" Said Stuart as he got of the boat with Jaxson and Donavan behind him. "Hey Stu, who are these two?" Asked John. "Hi my name's Jaxson and this is my cousin Donavan" Jaxson answered as he extended his hand. "No way, you're last name wouldn't happen to be Jaguar would it?" Asked John. "Yes it is." Said Jaxson confused. Just then a woman's voice sounded coming from the house. "John, who's there?" The woman asked. "I think you better come out here." Said John. "Okay" Said the woman as she started down the dock. Jaxson then looked at John who was a cat himself and looked about his age. The woman came to the group wearing a brown hood and cape. "What is it John?" Asked the woman. "Look who Stu brought." Said John. The woman turned and looked at Jaxson and Donavan. She pulled the hood off her head and stood there stunned at what she saw. Jaxson and Donavan were also just as stunned. "Oh my gosh." Said Tonya unable to move so she did the next best thing, she fainted into John's arms. Jaxson and John then took her arms and put them over their shoulders and carried her to the house. They put her on a couch and tried to wake her up. Just then someone came down a staircase to where everybody was. "What's going on here?" Asked the adult cat in a slightly deep voice. "John what's going on? Stu, why are you here, and who are they?" He asked. John then spoke up. "Dad, this is Jaxson and Donavan Jaguar." At that time Tonya came to. "What's going on?" She said in a groggy voice. She then looked over at Jaxson and Donavan again but this time she did not faint. "Jaxson is that you?" She asked as she walked toward him. "Mom it's me." Replied Jaxson. Tonya then moved his bangs from his forehead and noticed the pawprint on his forehead. "Jaxson." That was all she could say as she hugged him tight. "Well I best be going." Said Stuart as he went out to his boat and shoved off. A little while later the five sat down in the living room, Jaxson and Donavan sat on a couch, John in a recliner and Tonya and the other guy sat together on a love seat. "So who are you?" Asked Donavan to the guy sitting with Tonya. "Oh, I'm sorry the name's Roger Seacat. I'm John's father." Replied Roger. "So mom this is where you been all this time?" Asked Jaxson. "Pretty much, the refugees I was with traveled north up the river only to end up out at sea. We drifted about for a few days before finally reaching land. We tried to look for civilization because my condition was worsening." She said. "What condition Aunt Tonya?" Asked Donavan. "When Robotnik stabbed me the blade wasn't far from my heart and I needed medical attention because all we had was a few things to keep me from getting infected and we were running out of those. So we set out to sea again stopping here and there along the shore to get supplies or what not." Tonya then flashes back to those times she is explaining. "How are you feeling today Mrs. Jaguar?" Asked a young squire who was in her mid 20's. "I'm fine Betsy, thank you." Replied Tonya who was laying on a cot on a beach. Soon ten refugees showed up for what seemed to be a meeting. A female black and white dog that was the head of the group spoke up. "People I have good news. I was checking my map and noticed that there is a small fishing village not far up the coast from here." She said. "What is this placed called?" Asked someone in the group. "It is called Safe Harbor Bay. If its name is any indication we should be able to find refuge there." She said. Tonya heard all this but here mind was soon elsewhere. She worried about her son who was left to group without any parents. She remembered the last time she saw him which was when he and the other children escaped from Robotnik. "Mrs. Jaguar, Mrs. Jaguar are you alright?" Said the leader of the group who noticed that there was something wrong with Tonya. "Oh I'm fine. I was just thinking." She said. "Mrs. Jaguar this isn't the first time you have done this. I'm sure your son and his friends are okay. I mean my brother was one of the many who went to Cypress Knee and I have faith that he is okay." She said try to offer some comfort to the injured jaguar. "Maybe we should all call it a night, tomorrow we set off for Safe Harbor Bay." With that the crowed dispensed and everyone went to their tents. Tonya had to be carried to her tent on the cot because if she walked it would put to much strain on her weak heart. It wasn't easy for Tonya to sleep that night or another night before it. This night would make it the hardest for she had a bundle of mixed emotions. She was happy about finally reaching a place that they could call home but at the same moment her mind was still in mourning for her fallen husband and her son for even if he was alive he may never see her again. And like many nights that preceded that one she cried herself to sleep. She was still asleep when her and the refugees were back on the water. They dared not go too far out of sight of land just in case there was an emergency. The convoy of about five boats (some three carried people, one carried supplies and the other carried the injured like Tonya), were out on the water for about four hours when Safe Harbor Bay came into view. As they turned into the bay a tugboat piloted by middle aged sealion pulled along side the convoy. "Excuse me, but who are you people and where are you from?" He asked. The leader of the group stood up and answered. "We are refugees from the city of River City. Robotnik has taken over our city and we have no where else to go." Answered the leader of the convoy. "Well the follow me I see to it that you people get safe passage into our village." The convoy followed the tugboat into the harbor; there at one of the docks a crowd was forming to help the refugees. The refugees were helped out of the boats and the injured were taken to a near by hospital. Tonya was glad to be in a normal bed, for she hadn't been in one since before River City was taken over. A doctor stepped into the room where she was to give her some news on her condition. "Well Mrs. Jaguar your lucky antibiotics were put on your wounds or you would have a serious infection by now." Said the Doctor who was a male lizard in a white doctor's coat. "What is that mean for my doctor?" Asked Tonya. "Well it means we can take you into surgery and get you fixed up. You may have to take some pills for a few weeks after the surgery, but after that you should be feeling fine." Replied the doctor. With that Tonya was taken into surgery for to heal some damaged arteries of her heart. One week later Tonya was feeling great, so great that even the doctors were amazed of her progress. She tried to look for a job, but it was hard considering the only job she ever had was that of a solider. She eventually found a job at a restaurant on the docks. She worked at the cashregister and when they needed her she acted as the cook. Both jobs she did well. Not too long after that she found a little house over looking the ocean on the other side of the village. She kept to herself most of the time but she always found time to help people and what not. The one thing she didn't like about Safe Harbor Bay was the fact that there was a Freedom Fighter group there. They would go out and run missions to a far off island occupied by swatbots and then return. Tonya wanted to join them but she was never much of a sailor and she didn't want to risk injuring her heart. One day while she was closing up the restaurant the leader of the S.H.B.F.F. showed up with his son. "I'm sorry but we're closing." She said. "Oh common you sure you don't have time for two more customers." Said the man. He was a brown cat with a white streak that went from his nose all the way to the tip of his tail. His son who was about six was black with the same white streak. "Well I guess two more wouldn't hurt." She said as she led them to a booth. "So what will you and your son be having?" She asked with a smile. "We'll have some fried fish and french fries please." Said the man. "Okay that is two fish and chips coming up." She said joking. "You'll have to excuse the lateness of your order I'm the only one here." She said. "That's alright, we don't mind waiting." Said the mans son. Tonya went into the kitchen to make the order plus a little something for herself. She looked out at the man and his son and it reminded her of her husband and her son who by then would be six. Not too long after she started the meals they were done and she took them out to the customers. She sat down with them and started to eat and strike up a conversation. Aren't you that Roger Seacat leader of these freedom fighters?" She asked. "Yes ma'am I am and this is my son John." He said as his son looked up from his meal and waved. "I've seen you around before but I can't remember your name." Said Roger. "It's Tonya, Tonya Rico Jaguar." She replied. "Well it's a pleasure to meet you Ms...." Tonya then interrupted him. "Mrs. Tonya Jaguar." She said. "Oh I'm sorry I didn't know you were married." Roger said correcting himself. "I'm not married anymore, my husband was killed not to long ago." She said. "Oh I'm sorry, why do you still want to be called Mrs. if you are a widow?" He asked. "I guess it gives me some closure. Besides it reminds me I have a son out there." She explained. "Why isn't you son with you now?" Asked Roger as he took a drink of water. "Well we were separated when my old city was taken over." She answered. "Why didn't you go look for him?" Roger asked. "I couldn't, I was badly injured and so brought with some other refugees here." She said. "So is there a Mrs. Seacat?" Asked Tonya. "Unfortunately no, she died giving birth to John here." He said. "I'm sorry. It seems we have something in common." Said Tonya. "So we do." Replied Roger. The sun is setting over the horizon and the five are still at that dinning room table listening to Tonya's story. "Well after that meeting I started seeing Roger here almost on a daily bases. We dated a few times then a year later on the same day we first met he asked me too merry him. I said yes and we were married two months later." She said smiling. Jaxson on the other hand and on the other side of the table just sat there with a blank look on his face. "Jaxson, you home?" Asked Donavan waving his hand in front of Jaxsons face and snapping his fingers trying to get him to snap out of it. Jaxson was out of it for about two minutes then eventually words came out of his mouth. "You're married, to him." Said Jaxson totally stunned. "Yes Jaxson, uh I don't I fix us something to eat okay." Said Tonya as she left the table and went into the kitchen. Jaxson then looked across the table at Roger. "So you're my step-dad." Said Jaxson looking dead at Roger. "Yes Jaxson I guess so." Replied Roger. "I'm glad to know she isn't alone and that she has someone." Said Jaxson. "Jaxson, I'm glad to hear that and I know you will never totally accept me as your father." Said Roger. "Well Roger I really wont have much time to do so. I have to go back to my Freedom Fighters soon, and at least I'll know that my mom is happy and alive." Said Jaxson with a slight laugh. "I understand." Replied Roger. The five sat down to eat and Jaxson caught his mom up with what was happening in Cypress Knee. He told her about how he trained himself and how became the leader of the C.K.F.F. He told her about what happened to Donavan's parents and why he lives with him. He told her about the hurricane and how it took the life of one of his friends and how it forced others to leave the village. And to top it all off he told her about Kathryn. How he loved her so and how her coming to terms with her mom inspired him to come look for her. "Sounds like you have had an interesting life Jaxson." Said Tonya. "You could say that." Said Jaxson. Jaxson then looked down at his plate and noticed he was finished. He helped his mom clean the table and he volunteered him and Donavan to do dishes. Later Jaxson fell asleep on the couch and Donavan on the loveseat. Up in the master bedroom Tonya and Roger were talking about something important. "You didn't tell him." Said Roger who was laying on the bed. "I know but I don't know how to tell him. Said Tonya who was pacing around the bed in a nightgown. "You're going to have to tell him sometime before he leaves." Said Roger. "I know I'm just worried about how he will take it." Said Tonya who climbed into the bed. "Well he took the news about us good." Commented Roger. "True, but how will he take this?" She wondered. "Worry about it in the morning." Said Roger as he kissed Tonya on the cheek. "Now go to bed you'll need your rest." Said Roger as he reached over to turn off a lamp that was next to the bed. As he did that Tonya slowly drifted off to sleep her self. Early the next morning Jaxson was standing out on the deck feeling the cool seabreeze blowing onto the land bringing in the salty air of the sea. Tonya came looked out of the French doors at Jaxson. She then walked out to join him. "You always were an early riser." She said as she stepped out on the deck in a white robe. "Yeah, I guess that is one thing I never grew out of I guess." Replied Jaxson. "Jaxson I have something important to tell you." Said Tonya. "This trip has been full of surprise." Commented Jaxson. "Hmm, I guess so." Replied Tonya. "So what do you need to tell me?" Asked Jaxson. Tonya turned and looked dead at her 15 year-old son and took a deep breath. "Jaxson, my son, I'm................. TO BE CONTINUED Hi me again, I know it's been a while but hey I'm back. So what is it that Tonya has to tell Jax, well you'll just have to wait and find out in SURVIVORS (part two). Oh in later fanfics I will bring in another character made up by another person, and Rhiannon has a secret of her own. I just love keeping people in suspense. Till whenever C-ya.
