Can Julie-Su fans and Julie-Su haters get along?

As stated above I often wondered about it. Can
something who hates a character so much get along with
someone who loves the character? Case in point
Julie-Su.
When I got Knuckles #4 I was so excited. I couldn't
get over it. So, I showed my friend the issue. She
started reading it and took a strong dislike to
Julie-Su the moment she saw her. Why? For Julie-Su
sucker punched Vector her favorite Sonic character.

Whenever we roleplayed Sonic and Julie-Su showed up
she would have Vector do mean things to her. I didn't
mind though for everyone is entitled to their
opinions.

A couple of years later I found the
Anti-Julie-Su/Sally page. I wasn't offended..Heck, I
like the picture of Julie-Su and Sally getting fat off
of the chocolate ice cream. (It amused me.) I showed
it to her and she liked it more then me. She still
hated Julie-Su as much as ever but I didn't mind.

Then last month I ran into a problem. I needed one
more artist to work on my Knuckles fan comic. As a
last resort I asked her. She didn't mind at all.
Even after telling her she would have to draw
Julie-Su. So now she's working hard on the comic
drawing a character she hates a lot.

And that is my story.
