All the Freedom Fighters on Mobius go to the Floating Island to have fun at an amusement park. Renfield T. Rodent, the manager, convinces Knuckles, Sonic, and the Freedom Fighters to go into the Hall of Mirrors. Inside, a blinding flash traps everyone in the mirrors, except Knuckles. Robotnik reveals himself to be the one responsible for the amusement park trap and that he didn't trap Knuckles because he needs a witness for his triumph. However, he did take away Knuckles' sharp knuckles and his other abilities to keep Knuckles from stopping him.

While Knuckles tries to figure out what he's going to do, he meets Charmy Bee, Espio the Chameleon, Vector Crocodile, Mighty the Armadillo, Heavy, and Bomb. Heavy and Bomb are robots that have consciences and brought power gems to help in the fight to stop Robotnik's latest scheme.

Robotnik and Renfield are gloating when suddenly the alarms go off. Robotnik figures that Knuckles must have gotten help and decides to bring Mecha-Sonic (from Sonic the Hedgehog #25) to take care of Knuckles and his new friends. With some teamwork, it seems Mecha-Sonic has been defeated, but a power gem is added to Mecha-Sonic and Mecha-Sonic becomes a large-sized problem. Heavy gives a power gem to Knuckles, which allows Knuckles to match Mecha-Sonic. Knuckles punches Mecha-Sonic causing Mecha-Sonic to fall on top of the Hall of Mirrors. The mirrors break, the Freedom Fighters are freed, and Knuckles gets back his natural abilities, which he uses to total Mecha-Sonic. Robotnik makes his escape, but Mighty, Espio, and Vector capture Renfield.

Sonic suggests that Knuckles should make Charmy, Vector, Espio, Mighty, Heavy, and Bomb become a super team called the Chaotix. They reject this idea, for the moment.

TAG! YOUR IT!

Note: The bad grammar contained in the title is exactly what was printed as the title. It is not an error on my part.

Charmy flies over to Mighty and says "Tag! You're it!" At first Mighty isn't interested in playing, so Charmy asks him if he has anything better to do. Mighty realizes that he doesn't so he decides to play. Charmy informs us that he figured Mighty would be easy to convince to play, now to work on the "others." Charmy heads over to Vector and tells him to look out for Mighty. Vector asks why, but as Charmy is answering the question, Mighty tags Vector who is now "it." Vector says that it isn't fair without warning but Charmy asks him where does the rules say that you have to be warned. Vector replies "since right now" but misses tagging Charmy & Mighty, who ends up knocking down a tree to keep Vector away from him. However, by avoiding the tree, Vector lands on "talking air"--or a camoflagued Espio. Espio is annoyed to have his sleep interrupted and then finds out that he's now "it." When Espio goes chasing after Vector, he just misses Vector but ends up seeing an ant on the ground instead. The ant mentions that the ant's concentration toward something else caused Espio to actually get a glimpse of him and then disappears. Espio is wondering what that was all about when Charmy flies by to see if Espio is okay. Espio uses that concern to tag Charmy who is now "it" as the game continues.

Vector, Mighty, and Charmy are relaxing when Knuckles tells them to get down because they're under attack by Archimedes. Vector falls down a hole, but before they can get to him, explosive balls knock out Charmy. Espio, who's been around the whole time, comes out of stealth mode since Knuckles revealed that he could see Espio even though he's camouflaged. Knuckles, Mighty, and Espio leave Charmy to wake up on his own. A super-strong robot comes along, and Knuckles and Espio leave Mighty to duke it out with the robot. Then, when Knuckles isn't looking, a robot nabs Espio from behind. Now Knuckles is alone in the ruins of a city, and a voice tells Knuckles "The question before you is which is more important? Your friends? Or the threat to the Floating Island?"
