Robotnik (I like it better than Eggman) is watching Chaos absorb the power of the chaos emerald shards that he took from the Master Emerald. However, when Chaos stops growing he knows something's wrong. He checks out the shards and finds that some of them are really just a pieces of a cavern he destroyed mixed in. Robotnik sends his E-Series Droids to find more chaos emerald shards and to get some "amphibian DNA" (Big's solo in Sonic #80).

Meanwhile, Knuckles is gliding in the direction he saw Robotnik's ship go in. He notices some ruins beneath him and that someone has been doing some digging lately, who he figures was Robotnik, and decides to look around. The ruins remind him of similar ones on the Floating Island and he wonders if echidnas had lived here and why did they leave. As he starts thinking about how life used to be simple, Knuckles finds two chaos emerald shards and stashes them inside his gloves. He has a feeling that he's being watched and turns his head...(to be continued)

The Cats from the Mysterious Cat Country have decided to take Julie-Su, Vector, Espio, and Mighty prisoner. The Queen wants to know if the "outsiders" (mainly the Floating Island inhabitants) are going to attack them. If they are attacked, the Queen plans on having the prisoners killed.
