Knuckles leads Monk to an underground city (Hydrocity Zone). Once underground, when Knuckles and Monk reach the end of a walkway that overlooks a waterfall, Monk pushes Knuckles over. Knuckles grabs onto a pipe and keeps from going into the water, while Monk dives in. They declare a little truce, as Knuckles leads them through a tunnel. Meanwhile, Hunter is following their footprints topside and finds the trap door, which leads to Hydrocity (Hunter doesn't know that, but he's following nonetheless).
Locke and Archimedes have found Hunter's yacht and are looking around for some sign of whoever is jamming Haven's system. They discover that they triggered an alarm, which sets the yacht to explode. Archimedes gets them out in time though. Locke decides that they definitely have to find Knuckles.
Hunter registers a heat signature and starts to take aim. Monk is carrying a torch, which Knuckles knocks out of Monk's hand since he figures that's how Hunter spotted them. After some banter those two get out of the tunnel and start climbing a ladder. However, they were so loud Hunter heard them. When Hunter gets out the tunnel, he figures that they went for the high ground, but wonders whether they are trying to escape or fight. After a moment of thinking, he figures that they would stay and fight. Not too far away, Knuckles and Monk are trying to set-up a trap for Hunter, but before Knuckles can set it up, Hunter finds them. He shoots at Knuckles, but he misses since Knuckles inadvertently moves out the way (the pain from the collar caused Knuckles to lose his balance and avoid the shot). Hunter is so shocked that he missed, that Monk is able to attack him from behind. Monk demands Hunter take off the collar, but instead Hunter blasts Monk and causes Monk to fall from a great height. Knuckles gets so angry that he taps into his chaos powers, which remove his collar and then blasts Hunter so badly that his armor comes off.
A moment later, Archimedes and Locke arrive at the scene to find an unconscious overlander and Knuckles checking on Monk. Hunter ends up in a prison pod in Haven.

Espio tells Valdez that he'll help him get the chaos emerald. While Espio leads Valdez, the roboticized Liza, and some Shadowbots through the forest, Espio talks to Valdez about seeing Knuckles in Knuckles' home about 4 or 5 years ago, but Valdez isn't interested. Espio leads them to some ruins claiming the chaos emerald is located in the sewer system. Valdez and Liza talk to each other in some robotic language, and Espio worries that his plan could backfire since he didn't count on them being able to communicate through some other language. Valdez tells Espio to continue leading on. Espio leads them into a building and in the darkness, he does his disappearing act. Suddenly, Valdez falls through a trap door and when he hits the ground he finds Espio. Espio tackles Valdez and sends him into the water. Liza and the 'bots can't find a trace of either Espio or Valdez anywhere. Meanwhile in the aircraft that has the chameleons, the 'bot guards are destroyed by laser fire from Espio, who frees all the chameleons. After all the chameleons are evacuated, the craft is blown up and Espio says that they have to warn everyone on the Floating Island that Robo-Robotnik is planning on bringing the Floating Island into the war.
